This is a new forum which is dedicated to all of those people to create content and post it on Newschoolers.

Since our open platform is a core part of the future of this site, we wanted to open the discussions around content creation to everyone who is interested. We've had a number of private cults dedicated to people who want to share this - but since we've gotten all of our best talent out of the random pool out there, we figured an open place for people to discuss it would be a fantastic idea.

So basically whether you're already adding content to the site, or just interested in asking a few questions... this forum is for you.
 
Stoked to see the changes, even though I've posted less on here recently I still love to keep an eye on what's going on!

I'm trying to get my butt in gear to post more on here. (honestly if POTD still went on Insta I'd be more motivated, but I'm gonna start writing and shooting and putting art up here more regardless...)

Not sure about SIA, it's looking like I'm gonna bail on it this year. Too much going on with a lady and freelance work unfortunately. I'm sure we'll cross paths soon though!

Some POTDs do still go on instagram, I'm not entirely sure what the rule is there but I know we stopped it being an automatic thing over the summer, since some screenshots and other random things ended up being POTD and being posted. That being said, if you get a dope pic as POTD and it doesn't go on insta, message me and I'll look in to why (or just post it myself).

Yeah more than anything we decided to stop posting them if they weren't good. We've never been able to fully master the algorithm to the point which it can tell a "Good" photo from a "Rad" photo - with Rad meaning that it could be funny or a great screen grab that as a photo is utter shit.

Yeah, that totally makes sense, and I still feel a little dirty trying to steal POTD with my doodles haha!

I mean I think your doodles are an exception to that - they're pretty on point and entertaining.

That is the hardest part of this and why we've utterly failed at solving this problem. At the end of the day it basically takes a human to figure out what type of photo should make it there. The splash page remains automated from a workload perspective, but Instagram we just made the decision to have the human decide if it should or shouldn't go there.

Just think of a news article like a really well thought out OP in a thread. Same concept, where you get an idea to say something - but you just research it for a bit longer and blow it out.

That or try reviewing a piece of product. We're going to be retiring the review system in favor of news-style reviews... so if you can do that... big things can happen.
