please dont hate on this thread, if you are annoyed of this just press backspace and your problems are solved. you dont have to thank me at all, that tip was free
Well, last season it was my second season as a full time newschooler(thinking of the skiing term, not newschoolers.com). Basically meant that i was kinda new to the whole thing.SOOO, i had both of the switchups and both 270 off. Nothing unnatural or switch. I was pretty unstoked seing my shredmates getting so much at the rails.
So from early january and the rest of the season i considered to get way better than them at jumps. Worked out fine. And i got some good jumps in during the season, and i think i had the most hits at the biggest jump at our resort. Ended the season with a late cork 9 mute/nosemute.
Then i started to shred rails again, and i was all hyped up by my mates. 270 on, didnt really work out that good. Failed pretty hard, ended up repturing an muscel attachment to the tigh( have no idea what the real word is, im norwegian ) and cracking my hip.Got into a wheelchair and that was it for the season.
Summerskiing, i was scared as hell of rails. Only shredding around, getting back the feel of skiing again.
Then today, my second day of skiing this season i got the 270 on. Even making it look steezy and i even put i a afterbang.
just thought i would share my story

Damn straight!

Props man...coming back from an injury is a big mental game and it sounds like you already over it which is huge. keep kicking ass :P

Congratz dude. Sounds like your stoked and you should be. Coming back from an injury is a mental game just as much as physical.

i dont know why anyone would hat on you for this thread.... it shows that you love to ski and not afraid to push your self and try new things.... CONGRATS ON THE 270!!!!!!!!

thanks everyone, getting back from the injury was hard both mental and physical.and yeah, i really love skiing and want to push my self more and more.
so stoked on this season!!

I think it's also pretty impressive that you could do a cork 9 on your second season of skiing.

This is my second season ever on skis and I just got a 720. I gotta do a bit of catching up.

Congrats though.

congrats on the 270s. i had no clue you could press backspace and it worked as a back button. awesome.

well, i have been skiing since i was six years old. doing both recreational and alpine skiing.started doing newschool when i was about thirteen-fourteen, and now im 16.

so sick dude! i was trying to learn 270 on yesterday and bruised the shit outta some bones in my hand....but you give me hope that when i try it again it will happen!

I'm kinda the opposite. I tried some jumps when I was younger (I'm 18 now), but when I jumped once I got caught in the backseat and flew through the air and basically landed on my back :( So I'm a lot more comfortable on boxes and rails as opposed to jumps, and to be honest I'm still kind of scared when it comes to jumping. I mean, I'll do smaller jumps but any good size booters make me nervous. Any tips?

^Same. Rails/boxes really don't scare me at all but throwing big tricks off of park jumps still paralyzes me. Any tips would be appreciated, but basically it's just going to come down to the same shit I did to get over rails... telling myself to stop being such a vagina and doing it. Congrats to the original poster though, that's an absurd amount of progression for a half a season.

i dont really know, this all just came back to me today. well, you should probably start off light, straightairs, 3's and so on. then you'd get more confident and have alot more control i the air.

Thats me too, i'm a ninja on rails, but i can only do like up to a 720 on not to big of a ramp, and i just got my first pair of twin tips this season, i really want to get better this season and can't wait to start the progression.

270 onto a rail is pretty damn easy compared to a cork 9 nose mute. a cork 9 w/grab ir=s really out of reach for me, whereas the 270 on is a piece of cake. well congrats, i'm just slightly surprised at that. keep it up!

everyone here giving props, thank you so much. reading your comments gets me even more stoked on what i just did

Well you're sure a hell of a lot better than me.

2nd year of park for me, I can only fs 2 out of rails, and bs 2 if I'm lucky.

Jumps-180s and backflips.

fuck my life

You said its your 2nd full/serious year as a newschool skier, if you can do all that and it is your second year than you progress really fast. Im going on my 3rd or 4th year and just got 270's off and can get 5's with grabs off decent to big jumps.

But props to you for nailin the 270 on; that is a huge goal for me this season as well.

not that i know wether of not you ski often, but if you dont you should def try to.
at some point i just stopped being scared of jumps, but if that was my ego getting so blowed up so bad that i thought nothing could ever go wrong with me im uncertain of. but hell, it worked ait?

i dont care for going through my content, but what i meant is that last season was my 2nd full and serious year as a newschool skier. this is my 3rd.
and yeah, im supprised that everything went so fast at the jumps. but i have to say, that i had probably 100 hits on the biggest jump at our resort every day i got there.

WOW well props to you man, I guess repitition really does work, ill have to try that this season. Plus I plan on just getting out a lot more this year which will help too.

exactly. hurting yourself like that on a rail will lead to some level of fear when you return. some get over it quick, others it takes longer, but it seems like you are doing well. and damn, corked 9 nose/mute after your 2nd season. keep it up.

fuck man im the opposite, metal scares the shit out of me while snow = not face getting smashed in by a thin bar. just learned 270 ons and 270 offs last year. still can't do them on rails, just boxes. can't even do a down rail.

I dunno...I don't have a park at my home mtn so we have to deal with it by hitting big natural shit or building booters in the bc. so when I go to a park jump it's just way smoooooooth and easy to land switch comparatively. I just started skiing park last year on a regular basis but jumps just came super easy since I had already learned 7s with grabs and stuff on booters. the only bad thing about a park is that the landings can be hard...not fun.

to be fairly honest i have no idea, i think its all about priorities and stuff like that. especially priorities by the resorts, i believe that many european resorts untill now have seen the economical value by having man jumps ruling out rails because the price that they have if you buy them of a constructor.
and agian, thanks for the props!!

Good work man. i hope i can do the same thing im coming back from a broken jaw and as soon as i can do sport im going skiing but im not worries but i wonder if i will be scared when i get their to hit the jumpsgiven me hope man thanks

It's probably because I haven't really hurt myself on rails/boxes yet, a good nut or face smash could change that haha. I think I need to get in some time on a good BC booter to overcome my jump fears.

SIck dude, that's the spirit getting back on the ol' horse. Dude, you're progression is sick too.Have a sick season!

Great stuff man, sounds like you are really dedicated.

Hope this season brings some solid progression to you

wow cork 9 already for ya??!??! thats sick dude! Ive only been into newschool skiing for like half a season but ive been training hella hard this last summer soooooo hopefully things work out!

props man!
