What up NSers so I'm from Boise Idaho and I'm looking into a few colleges in Australia right now mainly university of Perth and university of Sunshine coast but what other good colleges are out there? where could i possible ski

one of those is the furthest place west of snow in australia, while on the other hand, the latter is the furthest place north of snow in australia.

snow is between sydney and melbourne. and about an hour and a bit south from australias capital, canberra.

university of sydney

university of new south wales

university of macquarie

are all very good uni's in sydney, have friends that go to all 3

anu is the top uni in canberra (possibly the only one) and is an extremely good university, and closest to the snow

but canberra is a shit hole and there is nothing to do there at all. so dont go there.

not too much info on melbourne except that its a lot colder than sydney and doesnt have any good beaches.

monash is good in melbourne.

dates youre looking at going aswell will probably help and a little more info in general.

it goes

1)sydney

2)melbourne

3)canberra

sydney is sydney.. fucking awesome, great beaches and amazing girls.

melbourne is the more hipster version of sydney, good bars and boutique shopping etc but thats about it.

thought id just chuck in my 2 bob here as well...

canberra isn't as bad as pow made out, there's not heaps going on but it's still a great place to live in terms of infrastructure and quality of living. i should also note that it's very close to the snow (for australia).

I live in the city and manage to get up to perisher (awesome parks) every weekend. it's about a 3 hour trip. you're looking at about 5 hours from sydney and approx 4 hours to the closest hill if you decide on melbourne.

ANU is the best uni in australia, as above.

TL;DR, best uni in the country is in canberra and its the closest place to the snow.

hope this helps mate!

The best university in Australia is the University of Melbourne.

To dispel some rumours in this thread Melbourne does have beaches and hot girls. In fact one of our biggest tourist attractions are our beaches.

Canberra has ANU which is a great university, it has somethings to do but if you're not going to be in Australia for at least a year than it would be better to go to a bigger more vibrant city such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane.

Perth is a really pretty town but there isn't much to do over that side of Australia. Although you can see the Great Barrier reef and some cool animals. If you want a party lifestyle, city living, urban experience than Sydney or Melbourne would be best. Because they're big cities there are a lot to do and they have a lot of things angled towards tourists that are easily accessible.

The best public transport in Australia are in Queensland and Victoria (Brisbane and Melbourne), Sydney's public transport system is atrocious. So if you're not going to get a car one of those cities would be best.

Melbourne is also a lot cheaper to live in than Sydney if that weighs into your decision. Both cities have their individual merits. Melbourne is more laid back, Sydney has an intense vibe to it everywhere you go. The night life is also a lot better in Melbourne than Sydney.

As someone noted the snow is closest to Canberra then Melbourne (2 hours and 2hours respectively). You can get buses to both of the closest mountains from these cities.

Personally I wouldn't go to Canberra, it is too cold and there isn't enough for me to do. But it does have good academics and I've heard they have some great parties.

I've made this decision myself and decided to go to school in Melbourne even after getting higher scholarships to Usyd and ANU.

If you have any specific questions feel free to hit me up.

didnt know they had a reef out at perth haha.

but yeah i agree with pretty much everything said, except sydney has considerably better beaches and its a lot warmer here than melbourne. public transport isnt that bad in sydney. unless your staying heaps far away from the city its pretty good.
