Thinking about getting a dually truck

I personally have this attitude of "that dumbass will never need that big of a truck what a douchebag". But if you actually do need that big of a truck or are a mega-BAMF then go for it of course.
 
make sure you REALLY need a dually truck. otherwise its not worth it, they are not as capable off road/in the snow (most are 2wd), they generally get worse mileage and they really dont handle very well. plus buying new tires is gonna be even more expensive than just normal truck tires, because you need two more. its also more wear and tear on your brakes, and they will eat tires a little faster than a regular truck as well.

i personally do not see the need, i have a sierra 1500hd that i have towed a 7000lb 5th wheel trailer with no problem, and thats still pretty far away from its max. 5th wheel towing capacity. (on the ball hitch ive towed even heavier hay trailers, but for way shorter distances) unless you are going to be towing massive 5th wheel trailers, weighing more than 5-9,00lbs every day of the week, you dont need a dually truck.

i mean, if you just have money to blow or really think you need one, fucking go for it. then put stacks on it. i think they look cool as fuck with stacks all shined up and chromed out.
 
if its got a bed, you can't go wrong. trucks are so fucking useful its retarded. buy a sled to put in the back of it.
 
What the hell are you going to actually be towing?

If you're not towing anything big, then theres no point other than to look like you have a fat back end that nobody can see around.
 
I didnt read any replies, but I doubt you really need a dually. Unless your pulling with a fifth wheel or towing some serious shit then you dont. Its worse in the snow\off road conditions, they get terrible gas milage, tires are more expensive, ect..
 
duallys are a pain man, i had an 09 king ranch dually for a few months. it was nice but i got sick of driving that massive thing.
 
sorry i didnt go into the reasons of why i want this truck you might think its dumb but here goes. currently i drive my moms old car a 00 lincoln ls and dad drove a 03 ford excursion diesel and in the past year has been in two serious car accidents more recently he was t boned at 40 mph by a chevy truck, she left on a strecher and my dad walked away from both accidents not a scratch so i let him use my car and he wants to get another but he wont let be get anything small for safety. So the dually would be stable from a side hit, diesel which he likes and as do it and he doesnt mind paying gas. Also good for delieveries with helping his business and would be boss truck i think.
 
Just buy a regular truck. The dually will not be much safer than a normal truck, if at all. In fact I'd say it will be even worse because it will be more sluggish, so your ability to AVOID an accident is not as good, which in my opinion is more important than it being good in the case of an accident. Dually's are useless unless you're doing some serious towing, which it doesn't sound like you'll actually be doing. Plus all misc costs associated with said truck would suck like: more tires, brakes wearing out faster, gas, etc etc...
 
If you're going to be towing 6 horse gooseneck then you are all set. If you are just cruizing around... I applaud you. Big trucks are fun. I wish I had one in CO.
 
if you're a skier and plan on using it in the winter you'll hate yourself when you constantly float on the snow with the wide back base and get stuck, thats all i can remember from the dually our family had
 
dont do it. I owned a drw last year and it was fucking hell. especially the old chevs id rather drive a school bus dont get a chevy diesel pre duramax cause the old marine diesels are boat anchors.... im a diesel head btw
 
There's nothing wrong with them, 6.5s and 6.2s are great engines. Theyre super reliable and get great gas mileage. For a diesel though they have the torque and power of a 305 Chevy. A Detroit Diesel in a truck that big would just be slow as hell. Hell a freaking pre vortec 350 chevy will spin circles around the Detroits.
 
Just get a 2500 or F250. You don't need a 3500 or F350 size truck with dually tires unless you are towing AT LEAST a 2 axle trailer.

Also, fuck Chevy. Get a Dodge or a 96 era Ford.
 
11.6 seconds to 60...... that whats wrong with them and non-turbo. If ur willing to do some serious mods to it u can make decent power. Beside that the engines bulletproof

Alright.

Personally, I hate that type of front end on trucks unless they are Trophy Trucks that are racing every weekend. But that's just me.

If I were to get 1 million dollars tomorrow to go buy a truck I would probably end up looking at a crew cab short bed of any of these trucks:

1. The new Tundra

2. F250 with diesel and swap out the Powerstroke for a Cummings (there is a place in BC that you can either by the instructions for it or take your truck there to get it done)

3. Dodge 2500
 
If you really think you want to own a truck like that, go rent one somewhere for the weekend. Take it to the mall, the grocery store, downtown, the drivethu, everywhere you might go.

I had a 2500 Duramax for a few years. I refused to go anywhere near a mall or movie theater with it. Even when you think you've got a great parking spot, some fuckstick with park too close to you and you'll have to sit there until somebody beside you leaves.

But I fucking loved that truck. But it sucked to drive in the city.
 
My dad has an F350 Crew Cab Dually and drives the damn thing through downtown Seattle on a weekly basis. How he does it... I have no idea.
 
get a 3/4 ton dodge witha cummins if you want diesel.

gm diesels are very very gutless

I wouldn't mind a Raptor but to be frank I do need a full size truck cause I do haul stuff around and would need to drag stuff over the Cascade mountains around 3 or 4 times every year. While the short bed isn't huge and probably around the same size as the Raptor's bed with the crew cab I still have space in the cab plus, I at this stage in life do not need a sport type truck or car.

this, even my truck isnt exactly the easiest thing to park, my dads dodge is even worse.

but driving isnt hard at all.
 
I know driving a regular dually isn't hard (I used to drive a F450 boom truck):

But you add the dually to the fact that it is a crew cab with a standard bed and that thing turns like a fucking boat.
 
purpose built vehicles should be driven with a purpose.
