Think you arent racist?

we've done this in school before and it doesnt test how racist you are. if measures how much of a difference you notice in different skin colors and the fact is that theyre different so we shouldnt be good at it. it would be the same thing if we used food and drink for races.
 
Yeah I took this in a class of mine and my friend and i argued with the teacher about how its wrong and it just tricks your mind, doesnt test your true feelings about it. Im sure she almost cried and she just kept saying how its a bunch of scientists who took 7 years to perfect it... I think its bullshit.
 
It shows racial bias. You have pre-set ways of thinking and associating words or feelings with people. Most people begin to cross these at some point, and we get specific people associated with specific meanings or feelings. And if you dont believe me, look at some of the crazy figures about how much time an average black dude will serve for a given offense versus the time a white dude will. It plays into our everyday lives and we dont notice it.

Its a cool test. Definitely eye-opening.

Oh yes, and if this psych stuff is cool to any of you, read "Blink" by Malcolm Cladwell.
 
i was very hesitant when it asked for my email, not because i dont trust it but because im lazy. so i mustered up the strength to type my email in, then it has a whole freakin application to fill out. thats when i exited out.

but i deffinetly am a little, i felt so sketchy while doing the E and I thing, like they were trying to get me to slip up. waste of my time to see that i "am not racist"
 
I agree, completely. Its interesting to think tho, about something you brought up. What happens if we automatically start associating negative or positive attitudes just based on ones unchangable characteristics? What if hearing an accent starts pissing us off for no reason (or just because we're sick as fuck of Larry the Cable guy), or if one starts associating good behavior with members of the same race? Wont that inherently start creating a pretext for tension and bias based on these factors?
 
this test is just like the test where they have all the different color names that are a different color. they tell you to read the word first then after they do that a few times they ask you say what the color of the word is.

It was dumb, I felt like I noticed a pattern and then followed it until it was different. Then I'd get it wrong.
 
yeah, i had a class on media literacy and now when i watch ads i see more of what they are TRYING to send to me rather than just taking it in at face value. kinda cool to notice subconcious stuff in ads. look at a magazine,so many girls in underwear/bathing suits have their crotch and tits lit up by completely unatural lighting. just weird stuff like that.
 
No automatic preference for african or European races. Thats cool. Definitely doesn't make you racist if you prefer a different race over another. Just means you associate certain feelings with a certain group of people. Whether or not you act based on those feelings makes you racist.
 
According to the test i'm neutral, and i guess thats right. But i wonder how the results would havw turned out if they had the pictures of black people compared to bad words first? i felt like i got used to the clicking after the first round of both words and pictures, and that might aqffect someones results.

Its kind of common knowledge that the same type of people hang together. Whether it be people who listen to the same kind of music, like the same kind of art, or share any similar taste or just share religion and ethnicity. Its comfortable, you can relate. It doesn't mean you hate the other type, you are just used to hanging out with people like yourself. Its kind of irresponsible for an institution like Harvard to put out a test to measure something like this when all it is going to cause is outrage and accusations of racism.
 
The test was clearly designed to gear people toward testing positive for racism. If they put Black with good first, everyone would apearently hate white people.
 
Very interesting test Rowen...I found it subconsciously easier and faster answering the Good/white part compared to when Good/African American were together...it just came to me quicker.
 
our data suggest little to no automatic preference between African American and European American. but apparantly I am abit handicaptist(haha).
 
im proud to be racist!...not that i hate other races but its hilarious to amke fun of them and there stereotypes...plus my whole schools is racist cuase we have lieteraly i think its 23 non white people which is also pretty fucken funny
 
haha i guess i moderately prefer europeans. hahahaa. i only made the good black vs bad european mistake like 3 or 4 times. its pretty hard lol
 
we have maybe 2 light black people, a couple asian exchange students and the rest are white, needless to say where I live is incredibly intolerant.
 
color-blindness is racism. Treat everyone equal, dont give black people a hand in life just because they are black, give them the same chance that white people get, nothing more, nothing less.
 
haha yeah, i think that was the point of the test. if it has good things under the same button as afro-americans, and you get it wrong a lot, they think it means you's a rascist.

the reason that test is completly bullshit imo is because it just judges you discrimination. which, if you look at any statistics of crime education ect. blacks commit more crimes and are on average less educated. so in reality anyone that doesnt have these initial and i say initial discriminations is just missing the facts. that said i wouldnt condone discrimination and im not but i feel like its stupid to just ignore the facts.

I would say this is completely false if I didn't get beat up and mugged

by 5 black dudes recently very soon after coming out of shoulder

surgery. I was completely racist for about a week after that. But some

of my best friends are dark skinned and I have absolutely no

problems/biases against people with dark skin and I know it's not true.

2) i can list 10 million black people that are smarter, more successful, and better at life than you. what's your excuse?
 
slight preference towards associating black people with weapons. obviously i have my inner prejudices but i am not at all a racist person nor do i feel uncomfortable around black people
