Think WHistler will open early again this year?

nope they wont. both mountains are opening on the 22nd because of construction for that stupid fucking gondola. we're not even getting the 4 days of peace before american thanksgiving. fucking blows.

They COULD renegotiate that if they thought it'd pay off for them in $$$ terms. It'd be a hassle, so they probably won't, but they could.

wel if you read my post...fucking stupid gondola. all it is is a disney attraction. extra $100 or whatever on top of the pass. going to ruin the view. fucking waste of money and time.

and JD, yeha lets hope thats the case, but with the warm front we're rocking right now, they may need the extra time. hopefully not.

did anyone see the shots of Douglas up there on the 5th? retarded

i'm pretty sure when they set out and exact date they are pretty certain about it. they need to build up their base. they don't need people scraping away snow that early in the season. they need to groom and compact the groomer runs so it's ready to go, and if they don't have enough snow to do that early, i say it probably won't happen.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the gondola. Like, people who come for a week a year may think it's awesome and spend the extra money on top. Problem is, Intrawest is all about money (like any other big corporation) and realize that there are more tourists who are willing to spend money than locals who don't (or people who are smart enough). Normally, you would just pick a mountain to ski for a day anyway... it's not like you're gonna finish all the terrain on Whistler from 9-12 and then ski Blackcomb from 12.30 to 3.30.

And yeah, I forgot about that new Peak to Peak gondola. Chances are, they won't open early I guess. And this early snow will probably slow down construction.

As you guys probably know, construction in Vancouver is unbelivably slow. Like, seriously, it's a joke.

I doubt it will open early because of construction and the fact most of their recruitment is done at the job fair which isnt until the end of November. Unless the mountains get pounded for weeks on end, then I guess they'll have to open some terrain

yeah exactly, it is all for the tourists, which yknow, whatever, this town was built on tourism but i dont know. its really not what i like about whistler.

word on the street is black tusk is opening a ski resort and giving free sled rides...my buddy was up there last week and got 4 sled shuttles.

OMGWTFBBQ!!! Black tusk ski resort!!!!

haha dude i grew up here, i know whats going on with the town. theres way more to this place than tourism and there have been a lot of really good decisions made with local interests in mind. this not being one of them.

but like i said, i realize that the whole point is tourists. i just dont think that it will attract as many people as they think it will. but who knows next year i could be eating my words. we'll just have to wait and see.

peak to peak shit is retarded, its quite possibly the most unnecessary use of 50 million dollars ever. hey guys while were at it lets clearcut the mountains across the valley and cover them with giant billboards you can read from blackcomb!

yeah the gondola is stupid as fuck. they are only doing it fore the olympics though which i really dont know how i feel about the decision....yeah its cool but is it that much money cool? no whatever though cant control it

its pretty cold up there in the valley, however the freezing level is all over the place on the mountain. i think it will open on the 22nd.
