i was just scrolling through thinking of this and was going to post it when i saw daph's post. glad i'm not the only one to experience this struggle as a young'un. other than that i can't think of anything because i'm clever as fuck.
 
when i was younger i used to think that if you broke a bone that the skin broke too, and that part fell off. like if you broke your wrist, everything below the break on your arm fell off.
 
I grew up in Allentown, PA and thought the song that goes "peace up A-Town down" was about my town and it took far too long for me to find out it was about Atlanta.

I know there are more I just can't think of them now.

IDk. Maybe because I'm from NY I wrongly assume everyone knows NE. I guess it's not really on maps or just the states not regions.

Idk. Not trying to be a dick either, there's definitely some dumb things I had wrong but if you're from the states this really surprises me.
 
I used to pronounce "dakine" like "bikini" until someone corrected me a few years back. I was soo embarrassed

but definitely when you learned the concept of money and realized that Pringles and some junk food is just not that expensive and your mom lied to you as a kid when you asked to get them and she replied, "no, they're too expensive."

As a kid I thought "Sweet Home Alabama" was "Sweet Home by my Grandma".

Also, heard this one yesterday- a friend of mine dated a guy with two pee holes. And his whole life he thought that was how it was for guys and he mentioned it in passing and she had to sit him down at the age of 21 and gently enlighten him to the fact that, no, boys don't have two holes. Just him.

youre gonna be disappointed by the answer. bourbon is basically whiskey made in the US, and scotch is whiskey made in scotland

the ingredients are a little different (corn vs barley? idk) but that's pretty much it

actually no, scotch and any other type is whisky not whiskey. irish is whiskey. that's being pedantic though.

bourbon's ingredients are very different but yeah it's the same idea. also they don't taste even remotely similar (bourbon and scotch/ whiskey) but that's a no brainer

haha, as i wrote that i thought to myself how someone who actually knows and cares about whiskey is going to correct me. thanks for conceding that it is a bit pedantic to distinguish the difference though-- isn't it fair to say you can consider it all under the same umbrella of whisk(e)y, but from different regions' versions follow different spellings, make ups, and tastes?

yeah i mean i often do it to just annoy people because i like being pedantic, but honestly yeah it's all whisky. as long as you don't say something idiotic like "it all tastes the same" no one would really care

both are colloquial names for BMW. ive heard both used interchangably but ive also heard that one refers to BMW motorcycles and the other refers to cars specifically

when i was younger i thought it was ducK tape. at some point i realized it was actually duct tape. was really blown away when i learned that there is a brand of duct tape called Duck Tape. so much wtf.
 
I used to think that 'Way to go' was 'Wait a go'. Also I thought 'Chuck E Cheese' was 'Chucky Cheese'. I also thought that my mom was holding me in a baby picture but it turns out it was my sister... It took 15 years for somebody to correct me. I have so many others but I can't think of any.

I grew up thinking a woodchuck was a bird. Then in school I had to write a story and used the words "...he saw a woodchuck a-fluttering away..."

needless to say my dad had a pretty good laugh when I brought that paper home

I grew up near a small town called "Morrisville", all my childhood I would call it "Moresville", until recently I realized I was a degenerate.
