Things that have been said to you on hill that stick out

Carving turns down to the base at keystone after some night park laps I stopped to take a breather and had an older woman ski up to me and say, “you are a beautiful skier” in a thick Midwest accent. Compliments just make you feel good…to this day I try to compliment younger kids to get them stoked. I complimented a kid in a lift line and he looked straight to his dad and his dad just goes,” say thanks bud”. The kid was beaming…so sick.

Complimenting the younger ones and /or the ones who may not necessarily be “as good” as you is the best fucking thing ever and is the real reason why I love skiing so much

A kid in the park asked who I was sponsored by and was incredulous when I said I doubted I would ever be sponsored.

One of the kids I had taught lessons to became an instructor at the same hill probably 5 years later, came up to me and was like 'omg you were my instructor!'

- made me feel good about my ski teaching that she had wanted to be an instructor herself.

One of the young guns at my home mountain started calling me 'Father Freestyle' based on the trick tips I was giving out.

That might one of the most rad nicknames to have tbh.

nicknames are dope. about 8-10 years ago, there was a guy at my local mountain known by the resort staff as 'the phantom' cause of his all black gear and facemask.

that guy was me =)

Pretty bad style but it was the only one I could find. This trick was a go-to for a year or two but I haven’t done one in ages.

Oh yeah one time I heard a bunch of older ladies on a chair (presumably Deer Valley skiers/Homeowners) who were talking mad shit about minorities. I'm like woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Ease off the gas there, Mildred.

How’d you know my grandmothers name was Mildred? (Fun fact, her twin brother was named Milfred)
