Thicc Boi

I am in the market for new boots. As I have had mine since 10th grade and I am now a 5th year in college. That have a flex of 90. I am a stout 225Lbs. So that’s not a viable option anymore as last year I tried to use them and it felt like I was wearing work boots rather than ski boots. Any other thicc boys on here know about what flex I should go with?

Yeah that was the main plan, but I live in the middle of NY where the highest vertical slope is 700ft within a 4 hour drive. So the ski shops around me aren’t the most reliable source of information. I prefer to ask the degens of the best page on the interweb

I'm 6ft and between 220-230lbs depending on my self control with the drive thru at any given time. I personally ride Atomic Hawx magna 100's only because they are the only boot that relatively fits my feet. I have you beat on the vertical. I grew up in MN with 150 feet of vertical and we luckily have a very dope local shop that I can trust but I realize that's not always the case. Anything 100+ you're probably fine. IMO it's way more important to pick the boot that fits you the best, even if the flex was 100 and you wanted 110 or something. Also I would buy an extra set of outsoles right away as they're annoying to buy later in life and arn't always available(Don't ask me how I know :(... ). Most likely your local bootfitter isn't a complete dumbass. They'll be able to help you get the CORRECT size boot, as if you did it yourself you would definitely pick like 7 sizes too big. Lastly on this boot rant (I've had a lot of boot pain/issues...), Superfeet are worth their weight in gold and will help your boot feel better and prevent heel lift, foot fatigue and toe bang.

There are lots of great shops around New York. The fact you think a bunch of kids 0n the internet will give you more useful info than a boot fitter without knowing you or what your foot anatomy looks like is interesting to put it one way. If you are around lab area there a bunch of decent shops I can plug you with and that would only be around an hour drive or less. Just do not go to The Ski Company’s monopolizing asses they are the not good people to support.

Yeah honestly Ski Company is the only shop I know about around the area and I don’t think I’ve ever had a good experience with them. Haha. What are your suggestions for shops?

That’s more understandable, they ask you your shoe size then bring a bunch different models on for you to try and just leave you to figure out what one you like best is lol. Some good options are Snowflake in buffalo, colden in colden, city garage and mud seat and gears in ellicotville, FULLSEND in Canandaigua, Bergers is sick I’m not positive on what town it’s in but closer to lab for sure, steiners up by adks seems good I’ve never bought stuff there but they have a good inventory every time I’ve been.

Do you guys really ski 100 flex boots and weigh upwards of 180lbs? I only weigh 150 but I consistently run a 120 flex or above boot. With anything softer I feel like I'm bottoming out when I really put pressure on the boot and carve hard. I went up to a 130 this year and I already have noticed that it allows me to put more energy into my skis. If I was in your position I would recommend a 120. But I also am not a bootfitter and have never seen you ski, visit your local and get a good opinion

They do, because they don't know how to pressure the front of their boot or bend a ski.
