Theta xi? (cu boulder)

so this is the self proclaimed "outdoor sports" fraternity at cu boulder, i checked out their rush video, has alot of things i like to do (freestyle skiing etc) and i was wondering if anyone on NS knows anything about it. It looks really cool but i'm afraid its gonna end up being a bunch of overly pumped up "bros" with too much testosterone..

anyone who goes to cu/knows anything about this frat, answers would be very much appreciated.

dude my brothers a sigma pi at boulder and he loves it just join CUFST if you wanna do hella ski shit
 
I don't know anything about them at CU but if any fraternity you're going to find the meat head type guys. You'll also find guys who are into the same things as you and have people to ski with and do that sort of thing. I'd also recommend looking at more than just one fraternity because you never know who you'll like and who you won't like. Whatever you do, make sure to go in with an open mind.
 
if you are thinking about joining a fraternity look at as many as you can. sure some will be a bunch of bros but you might find one that you really like. i didnt think i would join one but after finding one with some really cool people in it im glad i joined.
 
what everyone is saying, just look around. Some houses will "hotbox" you: put you in a room and pressure you to sign...don't. find one where the vibe is the best. every house will have dbags and chill bros. you just gottat find the house where there are more chill guys than dbags.

WHatever anyone says, greek life is the best way to meet the opposite sex on campus, because you have sooo many structured and unstructured events with sororities. You will meet alot of people and have a great time.

Spark notes: look around, find what you want, join, if you hate it you can always drop the house(just do it before completeing your pledge period, if you are a full member other houses won't accept you). but seriously you will make life lon g friends
 
its great if you want to meet a bunch of fuckin dirty skanks in sororities. By the second year, every girl has been fucked by everyone and it gets gross.
 
i go to CU but not in a frat. I only really know 2 frats, sigma nu and sigma pi. there pretty chill and have chill people in it, skiers snowboarders and the like. But to me what it comes down to is status. depending on how much people you know and what popular people you are connected to all affects your status, which, i think, is the biggest priority when it come to fraternity's. this is my opinion though on CU frats. i dont know anything on any other frats or for the matter most of Cu's frats, because there are like 14 or something here.
My advice to you is join a club that is into outdoor stuff because thats where you find the true, real people who are into that. personally i dont think any frat in america is truly into outdoors shit. Plus, if you go to school with your friends, or by yourself and make your own friends, get your own house with your close homies, thats where you will find true close friendship.
 
I don't. I had a great time in my fraturnity when I lived there. Sure there was a girl or two who "did the rounds" but just don't fuck them. It's that simple. It's fucking college, it's not like it's hard to find other girls than the one's your buddy's are fucking.

Don't let the frat stereotype get in the way of checking them out. Some frats do however fit very well into the stereotype, others, like the one I was in, is just a bunch of laid back fun loving guys, most of which were huuge skiers/snowboarders/even bigger stoners.
 
I may have exaggerated slightly. I mean i had a great time, but i seem to sometimes think it would have been better not.
 
As much as I hate frats, im guessing 90% of all men in college live with all guys...

also on frats, 2 of my roomates are in frats(not in CU) adn they are thebiggest bros ever, huge assholes who are full of them selves. just kinda reinforced the stereotype of frats in my mind haha.
 
I know a couple homies in frats, they are definitely kinda "bro" but they are pretty chill and ski pow all winter. I've also met a couple other guys in frats that were pretty chill, kinda douchy but not that bad, but that's 2-3 out of like the 100+ ive seen haha. I'll give it to them, most frats/frat dudes i've seen love to get fucked up and usually hang out with a large population of decently to good looking women, its just unfortunate frats are just so fucking stupid, the couple homies i know in frats say the think its all pretty stupid and rarely go to their frat anymore. There are definitely a lot of douchers in frats, too bad women find douchery/broness/brotherhood/free booze attractive.
 
word its a lot different for me im at school in florida, so theres no one to shred pow with, and no pow to shred haha. they can be chill, but are generally obnoxious,a dn yell lots while walking around our appartment naked, no homo. it gets old for sure.
 
this thread is pretty outdated...i already decided i didnt like theta xi, and i already joined the cufst and its so much fun
