Theres no way pc's gonna close..

Yeah.. here's how I look at it.

After spring breaks are over (April 7 or so) the only people that go to PC are locals, and they're probably like 1% of the money that PC makes. So essentially they're just keeping the mountain open, paying employees, etc. just for a select few people. They'd be losing money to stay open longer.

And I don't know if PC is like Alta or the others but the fact that it's National Forest land rather than privately owned and they lease it makes them close early. I think Snowbird is the only one that stays open late because they own that shit or something.

PC has to pay the national forest or whatever to stay open. as long as they keep paying they can stay open, doesnt have anything to do with snow

Meh its so warm now that hitting jumps gets sketchy because the lips are so slushy. PC could ice the lips etc but they don't seem to do that, ever. So its not that big of a deal, ski season is over eh.

Hate to break your bubble, but Park City isn't on forest service land. It's private land. And why keep making threads when there's already one floating around.

really i thought it was on national forest like most ski resorts. you are parkcity, you know a lot more then me i guess haha

park city is sooo fucking gay. worst and most dangerous park there is. their park crew is straight up mentally retarted.

lol...im here right now and theres notin wrong with the parks...i actuall y skied em all day today, and they were great...

I don't think so... sorry nate.

and to whatsyerbucket... my park staff isn't mentally retarded. You sir are an ass. You can disagree with people places and businesses but that's just fucking ignorant. But thanks for your opinion.

ok so, heres my way, park city is going to remain open for next week and they will close a week from tomorrow. thats the way pcs gonna close.

I see lots of mountain like that

Kicking Horse for example, we're staying open an extra weekend next week, tommorow was supposed to be our last day, but instead;we're closing for the week and having the weekend only.

not even record snow, but thats not the problem. KH can be open till the end of april probally, but KH has other plans on thier agenda.

Since KH is a resort(like others) it has to prepare for the summer, We already have the area and road around the bear refuge scraped so it melts quicker and is ready. The gondolas need to be maitenenced and reorganized for the hikers and bikers.

Plus half our staff has already made plans and flights to go back to Austrailia.

Next weekend, there will be no ski school probally no food services or rentals as well.

Do you understand folks?

The resorts and ski hills have other plans.

snow only determines early opening and early closing date.

'Nuff said

You're right, there is. I just hope you have deep enough pockets to make it financially possible for them to stay open. The same thing happens at every mountain--as the season draws to a close the mountain just loses money by staying open. With how the base is at Bridger Bowl right now we could stay open another month at least, especially if this weather keeps up.

But hey, that's just another reason I have AT gear.

Once it gets sunny out, people stop coming up to the ski hill.

DUH!

It's spring!

Without people, ski hill's don't really make too much money I'd imagine?

theres another few months of skiing out there. little and big cottonwood will have backcountry for a while longer and the bird is gonna be open till sometime in july.

For those that havent seen the other threads im pretty sure another major reason is the fact that they have to prepare for summer operations and shovel some stuff out and such.
Correct me if im wrong there.

You're right...

From the blog...

"The great news is that you have an extra week to enjoy the tubing at Gorgoza Park as they are now scheduled to close after April 6, 2008.

Although Gorgoza Park has extended their season by a week, it does not look likely like we (PCMR) will extend past our scheduled closing date of April 13, 2008. The reason for this is that we have a ton of work to do to get ready for our summer operations which are scheduled to open on May 23, 2008! There will be a lot of shoveling needed to unbury our Alpine Slide, we'll need to do some maintenance on Payday Lift and we will also be needing to move a lot of snow to get started on a major project that we'll be posting about soon (hint, hint, wink, wink)."
