A lot of my friends doubt me on this, but still hockey ain't going to be around. My reasons are that the current TV contract expires after this year. The league recieves $600 million from this. The new contract would give half that. This will cause enourmous paycuts within the teams. The agents will refuse to let their clients pay for less obviously. Besides players could go to Europe and get considerable amounts as well. The owners will just not let give in to the agents and there will be no hockey. If anyone supports this and has more reasons tell, if ya disagree, why?

when you say canucks are fucks i hope youre talking about the team and even then bertuzzi or else im afind your ass then kick it. oh yeah, this would nt be the first time a lockout happened (1994-5) and itll probably get resolved halfway through the season and the play will be improved for all those who went to europe cause theyll be faster skaters and be good, like mogilny, and nolan

The league has been expanding in recent years and it is actually rated higher by the public than the NBA the contract will be picked up elsewhere and the NHL will still ne around lockout or not! Samething as baseballs lockout or n e other sport

I could care less if basketball and baseball were taken off the air. Dont get me wrong I played baseball for 10 years, and I love to play it, but it is just so damn boring to watch. On the other hand hockey is at least fast paced, and entertaining. I dont think that the will do away with the NHL, but I could very well see a lockout.

I have a theory that all retards have one long tendon that goes from wrist to wrist, so therefore that is why they always are screwin around with one wrist up, and the other one down.

 
The players are too stupid to see the problems with the game. I heard this tonight:

The Detroit/Dallas game got LOWER ratings in the states than the US CURLING championship and way lower than the March Maddness Draw where they see who plays who

there will be no hockey not because of a fucking TV contract but because of the collective barganing agreement that expires at the end of the season. the league will place much lower salary caps on teams but those still with a contract at the end of the season will still be paid. why do you think anyone picked up this year or last year was signed to a contract that would expire at the end of this year.

Exactly pipe monkey its all about the collective barganing, there will be a lockout, but hockey will not be gone forever, i can see the season starting late at the worst, if the season is cancelled i would be utterly shocked!

The NHL will take a year long break, maybe more. The WHA will take over during that time.

Whoever said that baseball will probably go, is just plain stupid. Baseball is the most highly watched sport on average in America cumulatively. This does not count the Super Bowl (because it is only one game), and Auto Racing.

Either way, if the NHL goes for a time being, hopefully it will not, Womens Curling should fill the spot. The sport's viewer-rates have been rising exponentially in the past few years.

like it or not baseball is 'america's sport' and more people watched the yankees/redsox division series than watched the super bowl... baseball is actually comeing back in popularity... not to mention highschool ball starts next week!!!!!!
