There has never been a better time to get into dirt jumping / slopestyle.

This summer is the first year there has been an official women's slopestyle tour. https://www.tetongravity.com/story/...-qa9bnSQ9VGy0y-UTPPYdyFFT7guK2HgWthga1Hg_qqRQ This is a new and growing sport. Imagine being able to go back in time to when park skiing was just revving up. That's the state of women's dirt jumping right now. It is pretty awesome.

Dirt jumping is nice because you get to focus on skills and tricks and amplitude instead of speed and chasing strava times (an app that tracks your speed on a given trail that mountain bikers use). You can go to the dirt jumps at any time, you aren't reliant on lift service and you don't have to pay for a season pass, but you should help out on dig days. It's easy to make friends and feel a part of the community since you are sharing a relatively small space, although plenty of times I have had the jumps to myself. Best of all dirt jumping takes a lot of coordination and bikes aren't as cheap as razor scooters so you don't have to worry about hoards of small children blocking the landings, which is the primary reason I don't go to the skatepark. I highly recommend getting into dirt jumping as your off season sport, it's the closest thing I've found to the feeling I get park skiing.

Ahh thanks. I forgot all about looking into this. Ive been riding my bike to work( i just got new road tires on it) skateboarding, and did a trampoline session.

I really enjoyed skateboarding it has such a zen feeling, and is really good at "quieting the mind". I live only 3 blocks from a really nice skatepark but it's impossible to skate there. It is just a shoulder to shoulder sea of children on razor scooters, doesn't seem to matter what time of day. The small kids especially have no situational awareness so it's impossible to skate near them safely. I wish there was an adults only skate day.

The few times I see younger kids at the dirt jumps they usually do a lap or two of the easy line before they crash hard and leave, or they are smart enough to stay at the pump track and leave the jumps alone. It is funny to watch the mountain bikers (there are trails nearby) that see the jumps and think "hey that looks easy," and then they quickly find out how hard it is. My technique is still terrible, I'm mostly using speed instead of pumping and boosting the ramps properly, but I'm making some small progress every day and I'm pretty good at riding out a bad case or tail/nose heavy landing without crashing, which is half the battle and I think one of those things that having park skiing experience really helps with.

I live a mile away from a skatepark and no one is ever there at 6am! Ive seen alot of nice sunrises there.

From researching it looks like there are several mountain bike trails around of varying difficult
