Theft of many K2 Skis

It would be funny if the moron who stole the ski's, read this "Thread" and took some of the advice we have to offer, like not selling them on ebay....

In all honesty if they aren't idiots it wouldn't be as hard as you think. Sell them to individuals on a small scale, getting rid of a few at a time. If they are smart enough to steal 62 pairs of skis, I'm willing to bet that they are smart enough to sell 62 pairs of stolen skis without getting caught (atleast until they sell about half of 'em and accidentally try and sell a pair back to a K2 rep heh).

The 09 stuff is more than likely in production right now. The 08 stuff is in distribution warehouses ready to be shipped to retail locations.

The only 09 skis would have had to be the first runs for pro-teams only and they would be on them by early-mid season.

I wonder what the person who has them plans on doing with all those skis.

There is no way they could sell them any time soon because that would basically lead the police right to his doorstep.

Look, no one steals over 60 pairs of mounted skis (with heavy as fuck Marker demo bindings) by "just stumbling across" them. You have to know where they are, and then figure out a rough plan on how to get them. 60 pairs of mounted skis requires a shit ton of space and a vehicle that fit them all. Your average car/small SUV doesn't have the room.

Then there's the 08/09 thing. I very, very highly doubt that any 08/09s have been produced to "ski-ready" form, and I can pretty much guarantee that NO 08/09s with production ready graphics have been produced. At "best", there are a few pairs of white-topsheet or 07/08 graphic top-sheeted 08/09s floating around on the glaciers and at Vashon. Maybe. Highly unlikely, but maybe. It's a longshot at best, but maybe. It's about as long a shot as me hooking up with Lindsay Lohan. It's possible, but it's a damn long shot. Do I work for K2? Nope. No way. But anyone with a basic idea of production cycles can tell you that graphics for 08/09 aren't fully done yet, along with the skis, and besides, Schmies himself said so up a few posts, at least on the graphics. And if Maher doesn't have his yet.........

over 60 pairs of 08/09 skis, in some sort of warehouse/equipment shed, in Utah, at a rep's place? Stolen? Even if they were 07/08 (if they are, someone REALLY needs to correct that), 60 pairs would be doubtful, but 08/09s? No.

NS has deleted more credible threads than this one. Why is this still around? If these skis really did get stolen, you're doing the community a disservice by not deleting this and telling the original poster to get it together and post a better thread with legitimate information.

Threads that joke about double-double flips are funny. Threads that joke about large scale equipment theft, not so much.

I thought I would do a service and let people aware of information I was told about. If Schmies wants to expound on the information to clear the air he can. I posted what I was told. Fuck off. Next time a rep gets equipment stolen, I'll just laugh and move on if you guys don't give a shit. and I was told by someone that's in the industry and knows the rep. so again, fuck off.

thats karma, when a company branded "all american" moves to chine because it has "no choice" they are bound to have some losses of their new found wealth and surplus

you do realize that youre talking to the guy who designs all the graphics for k2 right? and im pretty sure thats a typo, theyre not gunna have skis for 09 already made, especially in those quantities

09?

shit

ski companys are still designing 09 skis, i talked to charles bernard and he is still making graphics for 4frnt 09

did you guys get to the point in this arguing where someone said at least half the pairs were found, two guys arrested?

sorry if you did, but hers a refresher course if you missed it...

Police tonight have solved the case of the missing skis. They've been investigating for months, and they found what they were looking for tonight, in a Murray storage unit.

On one of the hottest days of the year, it's a little odd to see so many skis, but it's exactly what detectives wanted to see.

Jared Eskelsen

Det. Corbett Ford, with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, said, "Nothing better than to open a door and see a ton of property there instead of an empty unit. So you know, it was great."

Earlier this month, two guys broke into the storage unit and found all the skis, poles and boots. They belonged to a ski distributor in Cottonwood Heights, and they aren't cheap.

Noah Person

"These are high end skis. I mean, each one of these retails for close to $1,000, $800 to $1,000," Det. Ford said.

The street crimes unit of Salt Lake County Sheriff's office in Cottonwood Heights' police department began working on the case. Through some tips, they found one thief in St. George last night. That led them to a second suspect today, and to the storage unit in Murray.

"This is definitely a good thing, it's exciting when you can recover someone's personal property," Det. Ford says.

The two men arrested are 35-year-old Noah Person and 25-year-old, Jared Eskelsen.

The equipment will be returned to the distributor. We're told 46 skis were found, which is only about half of the missing equipment, but half is certainly better than none.

I think k2 set this up. That is the most footage of twin tip skis i have seen on prime time television. Did you see the blatantly obvious product shots. zooming in on k2 symbols over and over, even a mini add for the spatula right in the middle. such a good hoax for advertising. people see the red white and blue colours, hear that k2 was victimized, gain emotional feelings for k2, and boom, record sales.

jk, please dont send lawsuit threatening pm's. nevermind, k2 can take a joke

back to the video. what is up with the guy from the ski shop? please learn to talk. if anyone can tell me the first thing he said i will give them an e-hug

hahaha you are an idiot. I deleted one of your dumbass posts. You are supposed to be banned anyway.

The rep had a trailer in the storage unit. The theives broke in... loaded the trailer with the ski's hooked the trailer to their truck and drove away.

Also the thieves have been caught and are being prosecuted.

end of story.

look in the Utah regional forum for links to the news video about the story.

The skis that were stolen are not the 08-09 skis. They have not even made them yet. Seth does not even have the skis yet. Come on people, use your head. I bet they were the Fall 07-08 skis. Seth himself even says that there more than likely not the 09 skis. Said they havnt even started the graffics yet. LOL...
