The Yellowstone Club

I was just curious if anybody knew anything about this place? All I know is that its private and you have to be super rich to obtain membership. I have a buddy that is going to get to ski there. Has anybody here skied there before?

one of my friends has skied there, he got a contractor pass from his race coach because his coach built some houses there

i have seen it from a distance (big sky) and it looks like some good skiing and some shitty skiing. It is so crazy, only one person has to ski for them to fire up all the lifts. They are building the US's largest house there as well, it is going to have a lift starting in the middle of the living room

$300,000 membership, $20,00 in annual dues, you must purchase property on the mountain, and over $3,000,000 in liquid assets. Then you need to be accepted to the club by the owners.

I did a little work up there, and have worked with people who "live" in the Club. To put it nicely, I want that place wiped off the planet holocaust style. The vast majority of the people there do absolutely nothing for anyone around them, and really detract from the surrounding area--Bozeman moreso than Big Sky. Sure, there's a couple people like Leno, Tiger Woods, and Warren Miller who are pretty cool, but for the most part it's just people with too much money who want a status symbol to solidify their place above the rest of us. That huge house that's being constructed will actually consume enough energy to impact how much everyone in Bozeman is paying (something like 300,000 gallons of propane a year to heat their driveway).

Anyways, I'm going to cut myself off here before I get worked up and start plotting.

My friend's dad is the CEO of waffle house and his grandfather co-founded it, so they have a place out there. He invited me to take a private plane from atl up there and go skiing one weekend. unfortunately, i couldn't go. But he said the went there, and the conditions weren't good enough so after they skied, they flew to vail, to ski there on sunday and stay in their place there. Would have been pretty sick to go with them.

yeah i read a bit about that place in this ski location book. I remember it saying something like you have to agree to buy a plot of land on the property to become a member or some weird shit.

yeah ive seen it on some warren miller movies, i really, really would love to own a house there.

read a cool article in ski magazine, that supposedly its not to hard to poach there....

First you have to pay however many thousand dollars a year to join

then, you have to Buy a lot.... lots of money

then you HAVE to develop it.... several more million dollars must be spent.

that's part of the contract when you join the club.

after that you get to ski free with a bunch of snobs. The cool thing is that evidently they groom right before storms, then leave the groomers ungroomed after, and there's so few peopel that it doesn't get tracked.

yellowstone club, an exculsive ski club/community/ski hill near Big Sky, Montana.

oh ok thanks, ive been to YNP but never been toBigSky, i shouldve booked t my senior year, btu im goin to oregon instead.

I live at big sky and I have skied at YC a few times. It's really not that special, but if they get a bunch of snow, you can ski powder all day (and then some) because not many people ski there. The lodge is amazing though.

I've skied there a couple times. The place is sick. Terrain and rocks are a ton different than Big Sky. I worked construction there all last summer to and I wanted to kill myself. The atmosphere of the place sucks.

The skiing may be ok, but there is absolutely no excuse for that kind of energy consumption that doesn't do anything for anyone. Blixeth seriously doesn't seem to give a fuck about anyone or anything, and with that kind of money/power, its dangerous. So much money and energy is wasted every year on that place it makes me sick, but there's very little that can be done about it.

i remember when i was out at big sky looking out on the yellowstone club and jesus those houses are fucking huge. look like just a ski lodge. I know a kid out here in WA that is a member there

Yea I know a kid whose a member out there. Its pretty much an intermediate mountain, but most of the time theres hardly anyone there

i have a photographer take all my pictures so ill post em up when i see him again

i went there once we were invited by people my parents met it was way fun! i was only like 10 but when we went in for lunch they have slippers for you and they have plastic bubbles over there chirlifts i dont know if they still do but they did when i went

this place is HIGH class. as in oil -rich saudi princes and shit. exclusive. everything i've heard about blixseth, the dude who started the club, is that he is a huge douche. this being said. i got to ski there last winter and it was SWEET. first of all. there was noone there, just noone, so thre are no lift lines, you have all the runs to yourself. there wasnt much fresh when i was there. we pretty much just bombed all the groomers, which were, of course, perfect. fun fast cruisy groomers. and we got into some real nice powder/ tree sking off the back of the mountain. they actually have some fun terrain. also, their base lodge, the "warren miller lodge" is out of control. its like a fucking castle. it was pretty cool getting to ski there.

its my favorite place that I have ever skied.... there was just so much snow.. one of my best friends is a member and we went out there for spring break, it was super dope!

Skid (Sp?) there today, it was actually pretty sick. My friends dad hooked us up with free guest passes somehow. The ridge up top has some sick chute skiing, and the pow is ALWAYS fresh. The people aren't really as snotty as youd think... And the lodge is sick!
