THE WRITERS STRIKE IS OVER!!!

before i run my mouth about how much bullshit that stike was, what exactly did they strike over?? i assumed money..?

Money... And the internet. The writers get a certain amount of money from every time a show that they worked on gets aired. That means reruns too. The studios (NBC, FOX, etc...) get money from advertising. Thats how its been since before TV was more than 2 channels.

But, the studios have been putting episodes of shows on the internet, paid for by advertisers (you have to sit through an ad before watching the show).

The problem was, was that writers were not getting any payment for the shows that were put online. The shows were airing, making money, and the writers weren't getting a cent.

Hence the strike. They were also trying to hammer out guidelines for the future.

I might be off on some of this stuff... but thats generally what it was about.

yay even though it never really effetced MY show, im glad that the conflict is over

They don't really get paid that much. I think you're confusing them with actors?

The strike was also about extra stuff they had to make for the internet that they weren't being paid anything for.

they shouldnt care its free publicity..and i know the directors dont make as much as actors but they still get paid enough to not be able to bitch about stuff..

I've interned at Warner Bros since September, and really, you have no idea what it's like to listen to dozens and dozens of picketing writers all day every day. My boss was ready to kill somebody by the third week of the strike. It was ridiculous. I'll admit though, their chants were very well written...
