They sank in Lake Washington when we used them as paddles. So much for foam core.

In all seriousness, they probably weren’t bad skis at the time (I haven’t skied many skis from this era) but the way they broke down so quickly in stiffness was noticeable and sad.

Haha, rode the atomic automatic 102s 2015 in a 180 for a couple seasons…yes seasons! When people say technique gets better, these mostly backtracked it as I was never confident on them. Think about a skiff ski…they usually have great edges and edge control….not these. I was never confident on em and I think I suffered from that. They fucking sucked! Worst skis ever. Now I’m on the k2 mindbender and k2 reckoner 122. Just wish I forward mounted the mindbenders by like 2 cm. I really like the reckoners very stable being the 191s and me being 5’11 ?. I think the atomic automatic series are crappy skis imo, but the bentchetler 120s when I demoed we’re great. Anyways. That’s my story. Oh and they had demo bindings and the heel piece on one of em was slightly loose. We’re ok when doing airs(honestly kinda better than the mindbenders) but no edge control which is very important. Ok rant over…

Interesting. Personally, I think the mindbender 108s that is know how to rock crud and hard snow but don’t seem to be well off in the air(probably from the weight distribution) but I find em as a great carver and bump ski(I like wide skis for a wide guy like me).

That's interesting. Are they different between models? I tried those retro looking ones for 3 days and they were literally the opposite of what you described. If anything they weren't damp enough. Very lightweight feeling on my feet too and plenty of pop. Also only ski I've ever been bucked forward down a hill midcarve- probably more to do with the edge hold being superb that day but still totally surprised me.

I was thinking and couldn't come up with a truly shitty ski I've ridden, but this definitely is it. Any classic full camber rental ski. How can we make learning skiing more difficult? Give them a full camber ski to make it harder to turn, that also has a speed limit...and boots that are garbage.

It was night and day the first time I rode my own skis. The lack of chatter in the tips was the first thing I noticed. Then how much faster they rode.

Also someone made a comment earlier about afterbangs. I have the 2013 model in my basement just collecting dust; to think I used to use these as an all mountain ski after I gave up on being a park rat ????. And no you can't have them. They will be shotskis one day.

Haha no fr the speed limit is real!! You literally can’t get them up to speed whatsoever. I always tell my homies if they’re gonna rent, spring for the better set up they sometimes offer.

That’s not even an opinion you’re just straight up wrong. Had the same skis, lasted the whole season with like >50 days of skiing 90% park. They weren’t heavy AT ALL, more so light and buttery. smh

Rossignol Sky 7. It was the 98 underfoot Soul 7, there was a lot wrong with it tbh. It was a lot stiffer underfoot so it felt like you could build up some speed but the second you did the ultra-tapered lightweight tips started to death rattle. Not a fun ski.

i just checked and they weigh under 1800g at 178cm. That’s light.

I dont hate the skis and still think theyre fun but Faction Candide 3.0s have absolute dogshit float for a 112mm wide ski. my Rustler 9s probably ski powder better than them.

worst ski... straight skis!!!! all thoose damn straight skis! nothing like leather boots mixed with skis 10-20cm taller than me when I was a kid.

and you probably had them mounted 6cm more forward?

CT 3.0s rule! for float in pow you need a more reardward mount, or moaaaarrr ski.

i had them mounted -2cm on the all mountain line which is like somewhere around -6 from center. I have the 184s which is probably why they are nothing special in powder. my other pow skis are 188cm and 191cm

I’d have to agree. If you get older and air is not your thing anymore, then damn they’re sick, but for sending, I decided to get the reckoner 122s for that. The mindbenders are good in the moguls though imo.

Curious what year your CT 3.0 are as I haven’t seen an all mountain line for awhile on their skis. Just the CT mark and you move back from there if you want.

Definitely would float better on the 190cm version of course as you mentioned.

blue ones from last year. the all mountain line is just -2cm from the ct mark. its not marked on the ski just a sticker on the topsheet giving some info on mounting position

Have 2 pairs of the 21 CT 3.0 and just wondered if the 2020 still had another line marked.

On the 2021 CT models, -1.5cm is the “progressive” mark and -3cm is the traditional/all mountain mark. Run all my CT skis -1.25cm to -2cm but would run -3cm if you wanted the best float, especially on a shorter ski.

A 190cm CT 2.0 at -2cm to -3cm and you’d have decent float I bet.

I also rode the sky 7's for a few seasons and they felt like they punished you for doing anything fun on them. When they snapped I was almost relieved since it was an excuse to get a new pair of skis.
 
4frnt click i think it was. felt really lifeless and had a way too long turning radius. felt like hard clunky planks.
 
Worst ski I ever skied on were those elan's from 2004 with under foot edge for grinding. So fucking dead and stiff. And then floppy on either end .

Worst ski I owned looking back. 2003 Salomon 1080 space frame 171. They were too short but I wanted 1080s. But at that time I had scratch BCs188. And they (and still) rock. The 1080s foam core was shit and I ended up bending them a bunch and they just skied in different directions and chatter for days
