The worst gimmick in a ski

I think the light definitely wins hands down. Who the hell is so dumb that they need to look down at a friggen light on their skis to know if they're chattering or not?

what about that piston in the binding. I think marker made it? Does it do any thing. I have never used them. There has been so much crap out there just so you buy there stuff. I remember the Salomon verse has that thing on the front of them it looks like a piolit systme but it looks like it does nothing.

The Line bindings - good idea but poorly executed. Those bindings are the heaviest bindings ever and the brakes stick up your arse when you land.

Oh and snowblades. That K2 light thing was stupid, but it could have other uses...imagine putting those lights all the way down the sidewalls of you ski so that the ski lit up when you went fast. Good for night skiing.

you can tell how good an innovation is by the rate it is picked up by other manufacturers - the first carving ski for example - now found on all skis to some extent. The K2 lighting system - now found on no skis to no extent

In my eyes the head madtrix system is the most useless piece of shit ever known.

Supossedly the head skis have a special directional carbon fibre in them, that gets stiffer when charged with electricity. so the chip collects static electricity or some shit like that when the skis are flexing(like the energy k2 used to light up the little light bulb they had) but instead of lighting a light bulb, the electricity is used to stiffen the directional fibres, making the ski torsianaly stiffer.

I have no Idea whether it works or not.

that doesnt seem very possible to me for some reason.

the plastic tips on the old 1080s did kinda help. if u ran into something it wouldnt delam. i think it worked fine. but the candides grip stuff was really dumb, same with the mad trix bindings. i heard those weighed a ton

the thing about the head intellegence ski was that was the electricity was created by vibrations in the ski and then the electricity was used to make the ski stiffer like you said, so the vibrations stop. which sounds really good, but I'm not sure if it makes a really noticable difference.

Regarding the K2's,

I forgot what it's called that creates the electricity, but it works like a crystal Microphone. Now I ask, how much electricity can this micro-sized chunck of rock create when tweaked inside the ski, and how much electricity does it take to actually make a worthwhile difference? I'm guessing that you'd have to hual enough of this speacial mineral around to actually 'power' your skis that you'd need a backpack and then it wouldn't work anyway. Either that or a long extension cord! LOL

Anyway, all the gimmiky crap that's on skis is dumb. Most has roots in good ideas, but I've seen World Cup versions of some of this stuff and it's nothing like the spacy-looking crap you pay rediculous amounts for in your local sport shop.

Speaking of costs, why is it you can get a pair of skis on pro-form for like $175 and they're over $775 in the store? WTF?

..

the reason the proforms are so cheap is cause if someone's in your shop buying skis and you're like 'i ride these' and talk good about them it gives the skis a little credibility or something so it's basically advertising for the companies.

yeah it's a peizo electric chip. the old morrison pro models from a few years back had them (the blue ones)
