The worst class you've ever taken

Post your worst so we can all avoid.

I'm trying to do an assignment for Eng 320 right now (The History of the English Language) and I think I'd rather cut off my writing hand than finish 10 questions like this (the blanks are special archaic characters that NS does not support):

1. (3 points) For each set, identify all the grammatical forms and then discuss the

morphological changes from Old English to Middle English. Be sure to note the dialect

distribution of the forms, where relevant.

a. OE hī wrītað

ME thai wrītes, thai wrīte(n), hī wrīteth

b. OE hēo wrīteð

ME schō wrītes, schē wrīteth/writes, he wrīteth

c. OE bōc/bēc, nama/naman, land/land, cealf/cealfru

ME book/bookes, name/names, namen, land/landes, calf/calvren, calvres

d. OE se hǣþena mann, sēo hǣþene hlæfdige, þæt hǣþene bearn

ME the hethen man, the hethen lady, the hethen bairn

I find languages fascinating. I find what you're doing fascinating.. Its so fucking anglo-saxon its awesome. Script like this is what the original Beowulf would have been written in. Its awesome to think that this is english in its purest form, before the introduction of Norman and the influence it had.

Physics this year. The teacher has no idea what the fuck he is doing and does problems that are in the examples for the books. I currently have a 47...WOO!

for sure man... when I started this class (4 months ago) I was stunned by how much our language had changed and was stoked when I realized i could speak bits and pieces of old english but when you start conjugating verbs in old english and analyzing phonetic changes (involving translations into the phonetic alphabet) based one historical circumstance you kinda want to die

purest form? it is so close to Old High German and Proto-Indo European that it is tricky to say what Old English is precisely. Then you have the Danes around the 900s and later the Normans as you identified, so our language is such an amalgamation it is oxymoronic to call it pure.

avoid:1. Physics2. Chem3. Art History
take:1. Ethics2. Sociology (if at uvm, Deviance and Identity with Eleanor Miller)3. Creative Writing

amen. i also have an economics class thats taught by my fucking athletic director. its such a fucking joke and he doesnt know the first thing about ANYTHING. pisses me off so much

Yeah thats certainly a good point. English is so unique in that its truly such a melting pot of ancient and medievial dialects with a few hundred years evolution and standardization. Most others are so traceable to German, Latin, Slavic or Roma/ Muslim languages that a speaker of one language within a family usually has little problem picking up another in the same vein.

Not so much for good old Engrish.

Although i can also see where aspects of memorization and conjugation in Old English could make you wanna swallow your tongue.

OBHR 2P91. Straight up worst class, but it wasn't because of the content as much as the prof. Profs make or break the class.

Women studies! awful! I had a choice between that or macro economics so it seemed like an obvious choice.

It was like being at a slumber party and they would start hating on their boyfriends and ask my opinion (19 girls and me)...the topper was when the prof demonstrated how to put a condom on....using her cell phone and then licked it to see if it really tasted like oranges.

wow, I wish I'd have taken THAT women studies--

the class i took was just full of book reading with titles like "the red tent" and yes, that is a reference to menstrual cycles.

i took a sociology of sexuality class. I thought it would be all easy and lame and shit. Well, the reading was the MOST BORING DRIBBLE SHIT and the tests were so hard for the level of class that I just got super pissed and hated it.

I enjoyed calculus more.

Either than that, the classes I have taken in high school and college have been pretty good to just fan-fuckin-tastic. Except one weird personality class for high school requirement that was... odd. Not nearly as bad as sociology of bullshit.

Here's the classes I took in college that sucked ballz:
History of Black Theology (I'm white and had to go to a bunch of black churches. Talk about awkward.)
Tai Chi
Information Literacy - basically a how to use the library class that was required for every student to graduate. What a waste of time.
Spanish 101
Managerial Economics 675 - teacher was suuuuuper smart...probably one of the smartest people I've ever met so he expected a lot from everyone.
Health Studies - another required class that was a waste of time.
I think that should cover all of the BS classes.

careers is the biggest waste of time:(

i just sit there and play games on my ipod or sleep. my teacher is a 4 foot tall liver spotted lesbain,

frshman health. everything is so self explanitory. like everything comes back to exercising, drug free, and eating healthy. its a waste of time and i dont see why i have to take it

Noted, although the chances of me taking any kind of sociology to being with were pretty fucking low heh~

Spanish Fucking blows if only those damn border hoppers would stay on their own side i wouldnt have to worry and this Spanish Shit. Make everyone learn English

Organic chemistry Bio chem and microbilology. Worst classes of all time. I thought that my brain was melting while I was in class. It was awful.

If you didnt like whichever class came first then why the fuck did you take the others lol?~ Med school I take it? Have fun rofl~

I took a three hour class that combined math and english

What a horrible combination to be stuck in for three hours at 9am

uhh spanish, i couldnt pay attention it was rotting my brain out, just dropped out last semester to switch to wood tech!Ya bitches!

a class isnt boring, its the teacher. i find that teachers who are willing to admit their mistakes, have a sence of humour and speak good can make the most boring class fun

precalc if i miss one problem on the home work i get half credit, the worst part is that my teacher skis but she sucks it boggels my mind

Spanish. My teacher is a dumbshit. From Mexico and I can't understand her high pitched voice. Fucking hate it so much.

It always depends on your teacher, not essentially the subject!

One bad teacher can ruin a persons educational experience in a great subject.

Avoid!

P-chem

english composition, worst teacher i have EVER had, and it was in my first year of college.

she had no fucking idea what she was doing, she made us write the most assanine shit. one week i had to write a 5 page paper on the dangers of peanut butter or buying an island, then the next week a 5 pager on on some tarot card bullshit. dumbest shit i have ever seen.

i stopped going.
