seether. nickelback. staind. system of a down. three days grace. linkin park.

DOES ANYONE LISTEN TO THIS SHIT? I understand it was popular for a time, hell I liked linkin park's first CD back in 6th grade. but how come my local rock station plays this shit continuously? every rock station I hear continues to play this overly aggressive shit-tastic music that sucked 8 years ago and just won't go away. I'd much rather they play cookie-cutter screamo bands than this shit.

I dunno I just really hate this genre of angry music. any music fad is better in my opinion. the lyrics have absolutely zero relevance to the lead singer's life. they sound like a jedi giving a monologue to their former master who betrayed them or something, its just ludicrous. here I can write a linkin park song in two seconds

(lame rapping)

you've betrayed me for the last time

it won't go on anymore

you thought I would always give in

now take a look as I walk out the door

(lame screaming)

I suck so much dick!

penis in my mouth!

god get this shit off the radio please someone.

AHAHAHAHA have you heard this song? fuck it by seether

its like la la la FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK IT FUCK IT lala FUCK IT IT FUCK IT

eh i dont think system of a down belongs in that list, they have super good instrumentals and the lyrics are funny/good, i dont like any of the other bands but soad is pretty good imo

guess I'd just have to agree to disagree on that one. I remember turning on the radio and toxicity came on, and I was listening to it and kinda enjoying it. I used to like that song.

and then my dad said "is this music a joke? its terrible." and I listened harder...

"eating seeds as a past time activity, the toxicity of our city. YOU WHAT DO U OWN THE WORLD HOW DO U OWN DISORDER!!!!!"

fucking terrible. pure shit.

you are analyzing system of a down's lyrics and classifying them as pure shit when youre quoting lil wayne in your sig

come on..im the first to say wayne is sick..but intellectual? nay.

And yes people still do listen to linkin park, in my gym class whenever i'd bad mouth them (whenever i had the chance) this kid would act all upset. He also listens to all sorts of shitty screamo that all sounds the same.

well you should listen to a better soad song, and not base your judgement on a band over one of their crappier (imo) songs, and albums.

Pretty much all mainstream music sucks big bigfoot dick except classic rock... but ye system doesnt belong on that list.. there bearable.

So? Popular doesn't equal good music. In fact just the opposite seems to be true, how else do you explain soulja boy, a lot of hip hop, and avril lavigne?

everybody has their own thoughts and taste in music. who are you to call out these bands with obvious talent that was just used in the wrong way?

all of those bands had their shining moments, i know i have full albums from all of those bands in my collection, sure, i may not listen to them very often if at all, but they used to be what people listened to. system especially doesnt belong in that list, their lyrics are pretty funny and their instrumental skills are really good... maybe you dont play guitar or try to play any of their songs, but its really technical shit.

i've always hated nickelback, but i def. was into system of a down for a while. Richard Cheese covered one of their songs. its rather comical.

i like a few songs from every bad you listed. those bands do have good songs that is why they're successful. If you are old enough to remember nirvana releasing songs....those things played all day long. Nirvana is still good, but I can't listen to their albums at all due to the radio stations. you're just listening to the radio too much. buy an ipod. but S.O.A.D. bad??? no way.

Solid attempt at being the lone voice of maturity, tolerance, and open mindedness. Unfortunately, your utterly and completely wrong.

I think SOAD is a shitty band. However that merely qualifies as an opinion, as I recognize that the lead singer is classically trained, their songs are unique in structure, and that there is clearly some technical ability amongst the musicians.

To claim that those other bands have "obvious talent" with "shining moments" is clownerific. They are still parading the same four power chords drenched in distortion that were made popular in 1991. Not only are bands like Nickelback derivative of other shitty derivative bands (STP anyone?), but in addition to their lack of originality, there is nothing "technical" or otherwise impressive. Face it, you're being bludgeoned with effective marketing and advertising. These bands are not on the radio and selling millions of albums due to their talent. These bands are on the radio because SONY, Universal, etc., pay radio conglomerates like clear channel millions of dollars ("payola") to play their music. Other times, they refuse to play every fucking rink a dink festival that clear channel puts on in local markets unless they are guaranteed 2000 spins/week. Are you familiar with the "familiarity effect" which essentially means that the more contact you have with some person or thing, the more you like it (obvious exceptions)? If you think a Nickelback song or hook is catchy...that's fine. After all, half a dozen engineers and producers have slaved over that bridge or hook and used autotune to fix minor vocal imperfections for hours on end. I apologize for the rant, but to defend these bands from that "hey, it's all art, to each his own" angle, is just bullshit. It's not "just art" or a matter of taste, it's a matter of commerce and dollars.

the worlds shittiest music is what is on my sister's ipod
it's basically pop country so it's like country sound but like moaning women, it makes me want to rip my hair out and then light myself on fire and jump out of a 20 story window
also nickelback sucks, i hate them

I can comfortably agree with the rest of this thread in saying that all of those bands except for soad are some of the worst in music. I do not know how someone our age can tolerate that shit....I couldn't even guess what age/social group that music is supposed to be aimed towards. If I see someone seriously wearing a linkin park or nickelback shirt over the age of 12, they receive one of my most severe first impressions, there is just no excuse.

That is your opinion. To be honest when I saw this thread I thought it would include talentless, lame groups and artists such as nickleback, theory of a deadman, hedley, fall out boy, lil wayne, akon, t-pain, and many more who only get played because they have a catchy chorus that catches the ears of young kids. Again that is my opinion and if you question my accusation then look at the fanbase of each group or artist. How many of you have yoiur parents telling you now that what you are listening to is shit and you will be a huge fan of that band your whole life because they are awesome? Well wait 5 years and then look back and you'l probably laugh at yourself. Many people on here can probably say they've already reached that point. Hell at one point I told my parents Id always be a big fan of limp bizkit and blink 182. I was 12 then and at 21 i dont listen to them anymore aside from faith haaha. So just remember its all opinion above, where I now like music that offers more than a catchphrase.

Now about your list. 3 bands I personally would take off there. 1. System of a Down. I wont even get into that one because enough people are stickin up for them. Which shows you that people listen to them. 2. Three Days Grace. They came to my university for a frosh week concert and they were probably the best band id ever seen live compared to what goes on the radio. They are one of the few bands that actually sound better live. They explained a ton of their songs that they personally wrote and the shit they were dealing with, without going all emo on the place and their songs are written deeper than a catchphrase. 3. Linkin Park. They have evolved as a band so much between their albums. Talentless bands can't do that. If you listen to their songs they speak out against many social issues. People talk about conscious rappers well they are a conscious band. Also they combine a little rap with rock. Making them more unique, how many other bands can do this? Not many.

Sometimes you dont have to play the most technical stuff to make a good song. Sometimes the simplest of beats or tunes can produce the best songs.

i love beastie boys! theyre so energetic and i always crack up when i listen to their lyrics.

but back on topic, i absolutely hate seether/nickleback/linkin park shit. i always did and it pissed me off so much in like 7th grade when people would listen to them, and now people are finally starting to see how much they suck. i can understand some people liking system of a down, but i dont like the lead singers voice at all, just not my style.

I really do dislike all of that music. I would include Insane Clown Possee in that group. I fuckin hate them so much. The worst band ever.

actually, SOAD is for the most part a political band and like most bands, are trying to make a statement. In this case its world awareness. A good deal of their songs have to do with the Armenian genocide and other political things. Just because you got tired of it doesnt mean its still not good

If you think this is bad, then move to honduras. A little odd, yes, but when you live in some bodunk village and all you have is hondureñen radio, your appreciation for how bad music can be really increases
