yeah i know long video

sparknotes: guy climbs 1600ft tower. no cables or safety gear. just freeclimbs with a 30 pound bag of tools.

thats nuts.

but he is only actually climbing 160 feet. not 1600. haha. but its crazy its not harnessed.

They explain it in the vid, it takes too long/is too tiring to reattach your safety gear onto a new anchor point every few feet

they are wearing harnesses, just don't use them all the time only when they need a break. and how hard is it to figure to just use a sliding anchor point on a pre installed cable that could run the full length of the tower?

That made me fidget in my chair. Going up is probably the easy part, atleast you can see. Going down your view of the next steps isn't as clear.

i hope u watched the video dude

he has safety going up the tower. then when he gets to the top he has a saftly device when he wasnts to take a break

It's probably just not very cost effective, or the climbers don't give enough of a fuck to want one... I mean, if OSHA allows it, it can't be that bad lol. And, have fun engineering a sliding anchor point that freely moves in 2 directions for 160 feet unless its pulled on at x speed/force level, and then pitching it for every sattelite tower construction company in the US.. I dont think anybody wants to be the guy who bids jobs costing 10% more for a safety precaution that isn't necessary. If you don't feel okay climbing it, get another job. It seems like these guys have no issues with it

sorry i was inactive for like 7 months and i tried the searchbar and looked at the first 2 or 3 pages
