Its true.. I talked to my coach the other day and he told me that Deer Valley is hosting Junior Worlds in a few years and that halfpipe will be an event. I think they plan to have it built in 1 or 2 seasons, i can't remember the exact date my coach said... I do know that Deer Valley doesn't half ass stuff like this though, just look at their mogul courses and ariel jumps that they've built in the past several years for World Cup events... if i find out more i'll post it on this thread, but i thought it was pretty cool.

No snowboarders! Yes, no weak snowboard punks here. I went to Deer Valley on 03-23-03 and back for more this week. Perfectly groomed, packed-powder Deer Valley resort is a powder skier's resort.

Those who aren't ready to get into the wallet for more money stay away!

Deer Valley is willing to bring out the snow cats in mid-day to smooth out serious ruts and thereby give afternoon skiers a fresh start. . Most ski areas are too cowardly to face down insurers who demand that groomers stay off the slopes during the ski day.

Deer Valley resort has the best hot tub and spa in town and it is within 50 steps of where you give the boy your skis to put in your locker. Than it is party time at The Stag Lodge, and the Stein Erikson Lodge. Each presents a luxurious way to make the most of their ski-in ski-out location.

Yeah, the thing is Junior Pipe skiing isn't a World Cup sport. Why not just move it a mile or so to PC.
 
except for the food. i had a great fish taco there for lunch once. granted i was with my parents, and would probably go broke trying to buy food there for myself. but it was really good.
 
deer valley pays the bills. gay porn is all thats wrong with the internet but every good pornstar needs a start right? you dont have to go dave and every tip the piano player makes at the stein erickson lodge is a reflection of cash flowing into the PC halfpipe?
 
People trash Deer Valley in threads about Deer Valley, but then all of a sudden they decide to throw in a pipe and everyone says nothing more than "oh sounds dope".

Lame.

Deer Valley sucks, I've never skied it but I have no reason to, and never will. Maybe thats ignorant of me to say Deer Valley sucks when I've never skied there, but I can take a look at their ideology and philosophy, and realize I never ever need to be there....maybe once to have some backing to my assumed hate.

Fuck it, ski pipe somewhere else in Utah, I'm sure you can find some places.
 
^ your right... you are fucking ignorant.. i hate people that trash deer valley and dont know anything about it... they're all about making money, so what?? your tellin me if you owned deer valley you wouldn't be stoked that your rollin in cash?? they have some sick open powder bowls and hidden stashes all over the mountain and since their so spread out, it makes for an endless ammount of runs with freshies. and the only reason that the halfpipe is skier only is because deer valley, like alta is a skier only resort. its skier only by default. if alta were putting in a skier only halfpipe i guarantee that a lot of you wouldn't be dissin on it.. you trash deer valley cuz they cater to much to the ritch, snazzy crowd... but when they try to put in something thats newschool, you bitch and thats lame..
 
honestly its not even that its a money hungry mountain that overcharges, looks down on you, has pretty weak terrain...

...its that they cater to rich asshole jobags...i don't want to ski wth those fuckers...can you imagine how many retards are going to "ride" that pipe taking up space, getting in the way and just fuckgin up the shape in general....

deer valley is beat, and always will be; but its good because it provides a place for people that i don't want to interact with on the ski slope to go to. I don't want to ride the lift with some guy that is stoked to pay the extra dollar so that he doesn't have to ride with that "punk snowboarder, ruining all his snow" and who needs someone to take the skis off the rack of the car when he gets to the resort. I'm glad its there to help keep those douche bags off the lifts I ride. But don't get stoked on there halfpipe; for one it will only be open for that comp and afterwards, two it will only be good for that comp and three anywhere that doesn't allow snowboarders is beat, hands down. Skier only means keeping someone off the mountain, and I say fuck that.

Skiing isn't elitist enough already, and I really hate all those mexicans, texans, African-whatevers, and most of all, the asians. I really hate the asians. So, I'm going to arbitrarily decide, against most everyone else's better judgement, that only white people deserve to ski my resort. Ya, and my "whites only" halfpipe will be radder than any other halfpipe out there. Why? Because it's for whites only.

Hate to just jump on the bandwagon... but I have to agree with the overall concensus here. Having a "skier only" halfpipe is a terrible idea. It's simply reinforcing the false stereotype that the two sports of skiing and snowboarding do not coincide and should be kept seperate from one another. We're all on the mountain for the same reason... stop being so goddamn discriminatory.

Moving on past your petty tirade on my ski-beliefs and your undying love and devotion of Deer Valley, look at what the mountain is...look at what Simon(Jib_This) said. They are a mountain catering to elitist, primarily white, skiing only, rich Americans....and foreign diplomats, with an undying "racism" of other, newer, snowsports.

There is better skiing in Utah, we all know that. Why rip at a mountain that dosen't cater to your "type" of skiing's main influence(snowboarding), and snow sports brother(snowboarding), all the while making one of the most money-essential, elitist, and overall mainly snobby sport....more of the same?

My answer is to not rip at a mountain that does all that, year after year.

Plus, if I remember reading the ski-literature's world equivalent of Deer Valley, Skiing/Ski mag's...(I can't remember which, two years ago they were the exact same thing)...I distinctly remember reading an article on Deer Valley and how determined they were to keep Deer Valley for skiing, non-newschool, or any other type of skiing besides groomers and mellow faced powder bowls. They've done a pretty good job at doing so, up until this announcement.

Quick! Jump on the newschool bandwagon and rake in the cash while halfpipe skiing is sooo hawt.

Making money is great, we all need to eat, we all want nice cars and homes, but doing it in the manner that Deer Valley does, ain't cool. I want a ski resort, not a winter country club. I play golf for that.

yeah i live in utah and deer valley blows more nuts than peter north---------- There are a ton of hot girls there... Did you know that in order to ski there, they charge you 10 dollars to park your car.

they have the best mogul and arial facilities on the circuit and now they're gonna have one of the best pipes in north america if not the world.

so please elaborate as to why it's so bad!

you obviously haven't been skiing too long my friend!!

back in the early 90's when my home hill built the first park in ontario it was snowboards only and remained that way for many years!

the only reason skiers were allowed in the parks is because resorts realized that park skiing is on the rise and if they want to remain competitive in the industry they would have to let skiers in. believe me, that decision was not made by any snowboarder!!

 
tmorry326.. i am not devoted to deer valley, i get a free season pass there because i am part of an orginizatoin they are affilitated with.. so before YOU go trashing me, why dont you take your own advice on what you said to me and not talk shit because you dont know shit about me.. i work my ass off for what i get, i can't help it when i get perks from people i know so i will enjoy skiing a skier only halfpipe at deer valley..

oh and by the way, to all you guys saying that there will be a bunch of beaters messin the pipe up.. you should know that deer valley closes such things like the world cup mogul course and aeirel site to tourists and only opens it up to USSA registered competitors..

second-ontario doesn't ahve alot of sick park mountains right? why would we want to go to DV where everyone but a tiny majority is a douche, when all of PC is right there.

third-your name is "pipemunky" so i assume you love pipe. if thats all you want to do all day, and you have soem mysterious hookup for a free pass that sweet for you, but no one else is in your situation. I for one could care less about skiing pipe in utah and would rather go shred alta, and if i did want to ripe pipe id go to PC and hit up pipe a little, and then go play int he park.
 
i love skiing pipe...in ontario and ontario only!! anywhere else and i'll ski chutes and pow.

i do have my hook ups to ski almost anywhere i please but thats an entirely different story

i guarantee that if deer valley makes a half pipe, and id be shocked if they did, would bring in some famous cutter like frank wells or gunny or pat whats-his-face to make it for the comp and but never maintain it other wise. i doubt that they would be willing to pay for it if they weren't hosting some comp. so it would prob only be there for that comp and thats it.
