alright, so with all the hate, injuries, and low quality stuff in the world - I gotta ask: are you happy with the state of the world today?

I gotta say that there is a lot (and I mean A LOT) of stuff I am very unhappy about in this world, but overall I am happy with the world. Sure, there's always the impending doom that we will all die a horrible death (either by war, local hatrid, or some earthly disaster), but I don't do anything i don't want to do, I live my life the way I want to (and it piss's me off when I get misrepresented), so when i die, well, i had a good run. and all those who are religious - if your not a sinner you're going to heaven when you die so what's the big deal ya know?

as for living: i'm having a blast skiing still, and i'm able to pay for it without losing a day of skiing, so that's great. in culture, sure that's a lot of shit in the pop world, and pop is slowly destroying the good in punk, but there is still quality music being written, you just gotta know where to find it. and ya know, i like the way that computer technology is going with movies... tv on the other hand - well, i can live without tv.

tv is for citiots anyways. but i do understand that there is a problem with this world. it is people who how no opinion of their own. my father literally cannot form his own opinion, and there's no way to get him to understand, so i know first hand, what these people are like).

but now i wanna hear what your thoughts of todays world are: are we living in a good world, or will you be happy when we fall?
 
You know what, the end of the earth has been predicting for hundreds of years and I really cant see it happening, even if we fall into a huge world wide war I imagine its nearly impossible to completely wipe out the human race. If we are smart enough to destroy humanity we will definatly be smart enough to survive.
 
truth be told, i'm disgusted with about 50% of the entire world, and 100% with america.

most of my dissapointment in the world comes from the middle east (not where u.s. is stationed) and south africa. there's just too much shit to list. civil and religious wars, AIDS, that kind of thing.

america just disgusts me on a daily basis. i can't read the paper in the morning anymore because it ruins my day. now, i realize that the press jumps on the bad news and exploits it, but the fact is, it's there, and i'm glad the press is showing us the ugly side. there is no real defined point here i guess, more of a rant. thank you for reading.
 
you're contradicting yourself. you say you can't read the paper anymore because it discusts (sp?) you, but you say that you're glad that the press shows the ugly stuff.
 
I know that there are lots of parts of the world that are in dire need of help, but from my point of view and based on my experiences I can't be mad about anything. I still think some things need to be changed but I'm sure that's true any time period.
 
and i would be contradicting myself how? i don't read the paper anymore, true. so how does that affect my knowledge of the truth and validity of the associated press today? is there some reason that since i don't read it anymore, that all my knowledge of the things they report on is irrelevant?

In the most simplistic terms: No matter how much bad or evil there is in the world, there is always that bit of good, and that good is what I focus on.

I'm happy with my place in the world, but overall, I'm not entirely down with the way everyone treats one another, and I really wish more people were stoked on life, rather than just wallowing in self-pity and directionless-lives.

Pretty much every person that slaves away at a job they don't enjoy, because they're told to.

Every person that subjects themselves to a monotonous routine, despite it making them want to die.

At least emo kids can find some sense of connection with the music, most of the mindless consumers of this world can't even connect with nature anymore. It sucks. I want it to change.
 
if everybody had to take the time to voice their opinion wed never get anything done. i agree with what you said, but its impossible for every person on a planet of 6 billion to have everyone heard

You have to look at it in their eyes, they don't have the choice us kids do. They have already taken their path and it just so happens to be 25 years of mindless work until they have enough to retire and finally enjoy life. I garuntee that you might end up in the same position as well because well... to enjoy life that requires money as sad as a fact as that is. You can also point out the arguement that a lot of emo kids don't have a real connection with their music because that's like saying heroine addicts have a real connection with their drugs based on the fact that both use it as an escape from their so "terrible" and "suffering" lives. It's mostly bullshit how all they do is bitch about life because they're to lazy to get up and enjoy it. Most of them have nothing to complain about and just form opinions not of themselves to try to create a cause to bitch about. Basically you can see emo kids as sheep following trends just as they see "comformists" do with their MTV.

I definitly disagree with that. You're saying that people can't enjoy life until they've retired?

Why can't people sack up enough to quit their miserable jobs, and take a leap of faith and follow their passions? THAT'S what i wish people would do. Quite honestly, you don't NEED that much money to survive these days. Like, sure, a big house and nice car are nice to have, and great items to use as a crutch to give some meaning to life, but you don't NEED it. I am rambling.. uhh... basically, the vast majority of people (that i am referring to) definitly have the ability to change their lives and make their lives have meaning, but they're afraid. I'm absolutely scared to SHIT that i will find myself in such a position, as to be so afraid of fear and so comfortable with that which i've grown accustomed to, that i can't change it. It's not out of their control to be all "FUCK this job, this is making me miserable! i'm going back to school".. in the long run, a few years of struggling to make ends meet purusing that which makes you want to live seem way more worth it that slaving away for the promise of a fun retirement. uhhhh yeah, ramble ramble

You are really asking a two-part question.

Am I satisfied with what the world has provided me? Yes.

Am I satisfied with the world as a whole? Not really, but is anybody actually going to say yes? I don't think anyone is completely satisfied. Hell, thats human nature for you. The world is just too complex.
 
...that is, of course, assuming that it is a "yes" or "no" question. There could be different degrees of satisfaction or even an actual want for more satisfaction.

i agree. i wish people would take a step back every once in a while and look at what they've become and ask themselves if this is really what they want. people should also change how they treat each other. so many people are assholes to everyone for no reason. everyone needs to chill out and stop thinking about only themselves. most of the american public is so caught up in materialism that it sickens me. every weekend i see the fat ass LA dads roll up in their expensive cars/trucks and just treat everyone like shit. they think they own the fucking place because they have some money. they think they should be respected because of that, yet they don't respect anyone else. respect is a two way street. why the hell should i be nice to you if you're going to be a douchebag to me. what the fuck. people suck
 
Ah, the world....... Fuck yeah it's great. Today, my air was fresh, the snow was white, the grass was starting to turn green and the sunset looked amazing. So yes I am very satisfied with the world. The people in the world, however, is what I am not satisfied with. Lets see here, today I was particularly angry with our government. I was sitting here, thinking to myself, who the fuck gets to decide if I get to smoke weed or not, if my money goes to a war I don't believe in, if I have to go to 12 years of schooling that other people pay for, if I have to pay taxes to a social security that will be long dead before I can benefit from it. Why is there a bunch of old millionares sitting around deciding what I can and cannot do. Why is over half of our legislature millionares? If things were fair, then that same percentage of the general population would also be millionares. When in the history of man kind did we decide that it was OK for people to control other people's lives? I'm not saying live without leadership, without leadership, chaos would ensue. The Native Americans lived a more civilized and free life than Americans enjoy today. I'm not talking civilized like toilets, showers etc.... I'm talking civilized in the sense that they could all team together, they were the president, the legislature, the senate. If they wanted to go get fucked up a spirit quest, that was their choice, it was their life, they could do with it what they want. I just don't understand why we all sit here and allow ourselves to be herded like cattle in the direction our government wants. I don't see a solution either. Some people think communism is horrible beacuse there are no insentives; everyone became lazy. Well if communism breeds laziness, then capitalism breeds greed. Our society today is completely focused on money. Everything is about who can put in the most hours and get the richest. Ok cool, you spent your life working and now you have millions. Too bad you are 60 some years old and too old to really enjoy the best of life. What I say is just what I think. I have no solution to our problem. Somewhere, way the fuck back there we all got fucked up. Right now the problem is too big to reverse. I think if D Day comes, whether I am here or not, it will be a good thing. When I look around the world today, I just get pissed. The only true, real things are that of nature, the things that money can't buy. The feeling of shredding untracked pow, or just sitting and relaxing with your girlfriend. So there's your answer.
 
If I were ignorant about the world I would say that I am satisfied about the world of today. But like I am in social sciences, I know that the world is a shitty place.

Lets start with propaganda. Its everywere!Be Catholic!Vote This! buy this! Be that! Its really fustrating. Im tired of being told what to do and what to be. All I whant is to be myself and not be influenced.The world's problem are linked with propaganda. We must sell to live and must buy to live.Commercials with 12 yo half naked girls to sell beauty products makes me sick. What is worst is that people actually believe they need something when that need is just a desire.

Second, the lies.I hear about theft, violence and empty reasons all of the time. Why are people to lazy to get and hold a job?Is it because of drugs? I just can't see why people must steal. If you need money, work. But it fustrates me when millionaires steal from businesses. They show up in court perfectly ok with their crimes.Whats up with that?

Third, the greed. Exploitation is everywere! Children get their childhood stolen from them because a few millionaires need monre money in their pockets. People in Africa work 12-14 hour days in shitty sweat-shops. Most of us complain when we do 8 hours. The thing is that politians promise them help and money, but they send it to the wrong people. Charities (some of them) are profitable markets. For example, enfant soleil for the sick children only get 80% of all donations. Why can't we wake up from our worlds and see the problems?

That is why our world is going to fail,and die.
 
In all honesty,im gonna sound like an ass. I love my life, and I am satisfied with the world around me. I dont worry about things excepts for those that are right there next to me, my health, my friends/family, and a few other things.

i am also sick of people obsessing over shit that does not matter. im sick of going to the store and seeing 60 magazines about jennifer's new crush, or better yet the ones saying "Pamela gives birth to alien", and people actually buy this shit.
 
i am happy with this world. Just not the people. We are disgusting and rather immoral and pretty damn stupid. Humans aren't even close to what they could be, but the world itself is sick.

Ok, about that whole why our gorernment is the way it is. The native's were a very spiritual people who were one with nature... the 'white man' was of the industrial sorts. that does and doesn't have to do with how our govt. is made up. the main reason why their (native) type of govt. would never work in a world like the U.S. is the size. native bands were relativly small in size and population. every community/area governed itself. You get a country the size of the U.S. with it's 300+ million people (who unlike the natives have extremely different beliefs from one another) and you simply can't decide national issues over a town councle.

What your talking about sounds a bit like anarchy. I've had many debates about this, and it's just not possible to live in a world of anarchy in our present time.

KLD is my name. And I'm not really trying to suggest anything. Like I said before, I certainly don't have a solution to the problem. Anarchy wouldn't work, but our current form of government is straight up bullshit. Capitalism is a great concept, but it causes everyone to focus their lives around money. If everyone would focus their lives around how they want to live, and just make enough money to support that lifestyle, things would be much better.
 
First off Kris, why are half of them millionaires? That is because they are some of the most educated people around, you can't punish someone for working hard and being successful, these are the same people whos hard work shows, yet they are good people, that is why they ARE voted into their offices, its not like they just walk in and get it. The people do have to make it happen.

Schooling, Actually Europe actually has more success with thier schooling and its only that bad if you don't learn how to use it to learn. Wait till you get out of high school, life doesn't get a whole lot better. You shoul dbe happy others pay for it. You know those mexicans that mow your neighbors lawn? yeah they didn't.

Now as for smoking weed. Where do you draw the line with drugs? If oyu allow one why not the next? Now you can disagree with me all you want, I don't care. I have had periods in my life where I did smoke pot. Pot makes you slower, and more lazy. Alcohol is already just making us look like retards and causes alot of tragedy, we don

't need pot tpo help it out. I think the curent situation is quite nice really if you think about it. Its not like you get fucked if you get caught with it, and its not hard to get. So if you use it in moderation and carefully, you shouldn'thave to worry. I have more but I have look back at what you said.

I agree there is nothing like chillin with your girl or shreddin thats what I live for, you know that.

I this winter saved and dropped school and did nothing but ski almost everyday for 3 months. It was dope, but you know in the end it wasn't like it used to be. There was none of that day before tension you know like OH GOD ITS POWIN WHAT AM I GUNNA THROW OF THAT BOOT or anything. So I think a little discipline is good. I build houses, and I can enjoy a day of work and sit back and feel good about myself and accomplished and its not like I am forced to I decided to do that. If oyu have a good job you can be a ski bum and work 2 days a week. thats not shabby broha, as for the girl, if you get one that will stick with you through that, your a lucky man.

My end point, Chill, its all good, the world is what you make it.
 
Hell no I'm not satisfied.

1. Drugs should be legal, eliminating underground markets, huge sources of income for Mafia-like organizations and ending the existance of drug junkies in our contemporary view. People should be ultimately free to do whatever they want with their lives, it's thiers, nobody elses, especially not some stuck-up old white men's 2000 miles away.

2. Government needs to chill. Lobbying needs to end now. Government shouldn't be something that the rich try to get into to control shit and make more money for friends and corporations, it should be something that people get into to better the society, and no other reason.

3. Television needs to stop with their forced consumerism philosophy based on primal aspects of humans, sex, blood, drama and the like and focus on being a non-biased, educating & communicating device, not a mere money making industry or perspective giving box.

4. Western Humanity, especially, needs some work, and enlightenment.

If you stopped thinking deeply into my views after the first 4 words of my 2nd sentence, damn.

I am, to an extent. Skiing wise, it couldnt be better. but society wise, yes. Anyone who isnt satisfied is because you ASSUME the best. Simple logic shows the world will never be what you want it to be. So let me ask you this, are you happy the world isnt a huge crap hole right now?

back to the threads question, responding in one answer, i say yes.
 
dude if drugs were legal all kinda of crap would happen our youth is already out of control in alot of aspects.

The government has problems? That is just because you want to do Illegal things like drugs, If I walked up to you and wanted your car, and put a knife in your ribs, you would be like, what the hell why doesn't the government help me?

And just to let you know when people make over 210 grand you are paying almost 60 % taxes. That means that for every dollar they make they get 40 cents. Now if you are making 25 grand a year you are paying more like 15% so you are geting 85 cents a dollar. How is that fair man? Yeah its not, those people shit on pay for your ass.
 
come one man, dont be such a hater. Look at such social theories as this... "A Man can do whatever he wants with his own life, as long as he does not invade on another Man's freedom to do the same." Think about it. I ain't some kid thats thinkin "oh ya, fuck the government, i want to get fucked up and rebel, blaaahh" I'm an educated young guy who can see things in colors besides black and white. If you went to a store to buy drugs, or a coffee shop for instance, or could grow your own, don't you think the streets would be a lot safer place? I value safety rather than not allowing some person to get high. At least can we agree on the current state of American drug policy (which has basically become world drug policy over the last 80 years) needs a total rewrite? I guess the internet isn't a good place to talk about this, it would definetely need an in-person kind of conversation.

As for taxes, ya their kinda fucked up, but why not go a step further and lower taxes and cut the bullshit spending, eh? Then they'd need less taxes, OR keep the taxes as they are, but spend it reasonably, not paying $2000 to a corporation for a 12" TV, and then order 5000 of em.

As for the safer streets I had 7 of my friends die through out high school to alcohol related accidents. And I know 20 or more that buy drugs on a regular basis and nothing comes of it.

Do you honestly think that you can outthink and come up with a beter plan then some of the greatest thinkers in our country just because you want to do drugs? I am not a hater, just a realist and I don't jump the bandwagon.
 
You prove my point exactly with the alcohol and then the 20 friends that buy drugs comment. When i said "streets" i meant gang violence and drug dealer violence. Alcohol should be more controlled than weed, it is a very highly abused substance.

And no, our country's forefathers were brilliant, but you must think that when they wrote our founding laws and social views, they were doin it in the state of mind that this would be the first country free of monarchs, and imperialism. That it could be a brand new way of living for humanity. They did not compensate for the shiesty, dishonest people that would come along starting a century later, and exponentiating in dishonesty and corruption to today. I'm just trying to put this great contry's founding ideals into a modern world's interpretation, one such world's view that has been controlled too long by fear and government. The US was intended to be a wonderful place of freedom, and this has very very little to do with drug laws, those are a minute factor, there are much greater things, like living life without fear installed for the masses byt the government/media which are like one today. I know that I'm living my life how I would like to, but I have great concerns for the mass views, because those are the minds that get molded and then vote for things they have no real idea of the big picture of. Get me? Check out Spanish laws a bit.

Sure our country works as a great big machine, pumping out products and making large amounts of money, which controls our world. But is that really where we should stop? There is so much more in this universe than being a country that is good at making money for itself. I think this is also where i lose a lot of you, I mean what in the hell is this kid talking about, he doesn't like money, what the fuck, what a dumbass...

am i saisfied with the life the world has provided me?- yes and no. I like my friends, and my family, but i hate where i live and how I, myslef am. I have these wierd superstitions that i have, that i cant make go away because i am paranoid that if i stop doing them, something awful will happen.

i know it sounds like im insane, but i mostly try to keep them to myself, but i cant help but to do them.

anyway, the world thats provided to me is good people wise, but living in central vermont, in the shittiest winter ever, with nothing to do and a broken collarbone in spring skiings "Prime" just sucks.
 
You know you can do mind excercises, like ask yourself where that really comes from, think deep, let go and the answers will come instantly, but you must let go and be deep in your mind. Meditation my friend, check it out.
 
i am unsatisfied with all the fat people that make people have acomadations for them like those gay ass mobiles that they ride around in the supermarket...and the stupid fucking wide ass doors going into the dunkin donuts...seriously if u ever take notice to that they are getting bigger at all the new fast food places...and i wont start about how they all eat fat food and wonder why they are so fat...maybe im to bitchy but how hard is it really to not eat a lot of food......GOD im fucking pissed now ater saying that

If The president got a drugs possession charge, you would take all his credibility away and say he is nothing but a druggy, you can'ty take both sides man. Our government does fine. Uh, the current president DID get drug possession charges, it was Cocaine. Come on now. He also got a DUI. His daughters tried buying alcohol underage with SS agents right next to them... I didn't bring it up, you did. And no, I don't smoke weed, thank you very much. Why would you assume that I would take credibility away from the president for getting caught with drugs? Thats just like you painted yourself an imaginary picture of me in your head, and stopped listening, and just assumed. Come on. First of all, the president would never get a drug charge even if he was shootin heroin. And i don't expect more out of them than myself, but I expect that much out of them. If you knew me you would think differently, rather than "oh hes just some pot smoking hippy bastard dreamer kid that doesn't know shit bout the 'real' world." So all in all, I'm done with this, there is not a point, we can't go any further because we have already stopped. Hope you can get some enlightenment. Peace.
