urbans are fun, and challenging. bandanas keep your face warm, and look cool. steeze means style with ease. and looking cool, whats wrong with that. if looks diddnt matter, why would you buy a nice coat when you could duct tape blakets to yourself and put a garbage bag over it. serves the same purpose. let people do what they want.

urban stuff is so awesome, who cares if skiing is meant for mountains, just think of what skateboarders in the 60's would think of doing handrails and stairsets, cause skateboarding is just for carving down sidewalks.

plus how progressive would that be if we didnt do anything off the mountain just because it isnt normal, thats gay as fuck, with that kind of thinking we would all still be skiing groomers all day like a bunch of fags.

what really bugs me is people who hate on the sport like your are doing right now, why does little johnny with xxxxxxxl baggy clothes bother you, do what you do, and dont care so much about what other people are doing around you, thats what skiing is about
 
yea man im not hating on that at all, I skate with gangsta kids and tight pants kids, both have good style and good tricks and I respect them both. Personally I just dont think it looks good with skiing but blake and a lot of the kids who wear it are nasty
 
Yo... I totally agree with Philly-J .... this whole new "scene" is totally bullshit.... we ski when the snow falls... and do other stuff when it is warm out... like wakeboard and mountain bike. Skiing is seasonall....

as for the New School Steez...... you kids including myself are WHITE... act like it.... no gangsta wants to see a suburban rich kid acting like an asshole/gangsta.... its a total fad....be your self don't conform the the MTV lifestyle....

Yo.. I can slide a hand rail.... but droping a cornice to a sick line is way more fun... and then there is actual snow to ride instead of a black top street to cross.... destroying my equipment....

drop that cornice into that sick line, then at night hit a hand rail. not difficult. use old shitty equipment for that shit, it's not rocket science bro. i still don't see how hitting handrails is stupid...can you give me a reason besides it "ruins your equipment"? i just want to see some reasoning behind this.
 
1. Urban skiing is just another recently formed type of skiing. It's fun and a little more exciting then just hitting the park for rails and such. I'm a huge fan of big mountain skiing too, but I say people should ski how they want as long as they are having fun, which is the point right?

2. Steeze=style and eaze

3. Poles help people get speed to get on the rails and balance them a bit once they are on the rails.

4. I find bandanas to be nice to wear on windy blizzardy (a word I swear) days so the snow doesn't hit your face and freeze there. Bandanas also are more comfortable than gators or things of that nature.

5. While it does look funny seeing a skinny white skier kid at all ghetto thugged out...I don't think it's a big deal. If they want to act that way then that's fine for them. I don't, but I dont' judge those who do. Again, as long as you are out there skiing and having fun, that's what really counts.

i guess that my opinions are based on the individuals that I have met and the impression that I got from them.... most of the Kids who are the best rippers out there are Gangstas....

nothing against them having fun....

i guess the end of my opinion here is that people just need to go out and ski instead of running there mouths... that is what gets me...

and the sterotypical person who is running there mouth is the wannabe gangsta from indiana.. or montana... or whatever.

but i do think some kids are taking it a little too far. bandanas are understandable when they are on your face because they are cheap and pretect you from the elements. but when i see kids wearing doo -rags and jerseys, i kind of wonder why
 
how3 about you just wear/do what ever the fuck you want and let every one else do the same. and as for the urban comment, i ski urban in the middle of the knight when there isnt any thiung else to do
 
you and your "actual mountain riders" are the ones running your mouths instead of going out there and skiing. Think before you type.
 
Its not about being gangsta or sliding down metal in the streets. Its about having fun and do what we want to. And apparently, many like those things you mentioned.
 
i disagree with whoever made this thread

- urban skiing is a whole new side to the sport, so many new lines, so many different handrails/stairs/ledges/drops.

- skiing looks gay without poles - helps balance also, need to push sometimes (derrr)

- goggles are sick

I don't blame you, but I think skiing has become lame for that reason. Self-consciousness is ruining the non-professional side of skiing. Some parks feel like the high school quad. It was way more fun before style and filming mattered.

why doesn't everyone stop stereotyping what a white kid is suppossed to act like or be and what a black guys lifestyle is like.. its urban, a dressing style, not a reflection of how you live. urban rails are just a reflection of the progression of the sport, who cares? if you dont want to do urban rails then dont do them but if you do then by all means do them... but whatever, nobody seems to understand that anyway, people are just going to keep bitching even though its not really a controversy, some people are just nosy and like to be in other peoples shit..
