The Two Towers - Premiere

Alright, it is 3:36 AM and I gotta wake up in a couple hours...but I just want to say that the two towers was fucking awesome.

I can't say it was as good as the first one and and I found there was a little too much comic relief in it...but other than that, it was really good.

Go see it!

Yeah, the comic relief with Gimli was a bit too much... and they took a hatchet to Tolkien's plot and pushed things around to make the movie work out. It was still excellent, but it brings up a very debatable question: Is it alright to change the plot of the story if it will make the movie better? Or should it be just as the books are?

Personally, I find it somewhat of a sacrilege when the movie totally discards what Tolkien actually wrote... but still, it's a good movie, and if it will get people to love Lord of the Rings and the goodness behind it, and get them to pick up the the books, then it's okay with me.

I tried reading the books..and fuck they were boring. the first one, even though i'd seen the movie and knew what was going on, made we want to just go to sleep. I LOVED the hobbit, but the first 200 pages of the first lord of the rings book were toooooo boring for me.

Well, first of all....your're wrong. Second of all, they get more exciting as they go on.

But I think the movie was very good, yes they left quite a bit out...but they almost had to to make it movie matereal.

the books did seem to long, although i felt obligated to read them after my uncle got me the $80 trilogy, i still have only gotten through the first one in a year.

it was such a good movie. some of the plot twists seemed kinda weird though. the comic releif was a bit over done, but other than what they added in there really wasn't any comedy. the comedy was a nice breif change from the almost constant battle scenes. makes me want to read the books again.

yes the first part is boring, but suck it up. the rest is awsome. without that long intro at the begining you wouldn't know anything or why they were doing what they were.

Too long, what a bunch of whiners, I read those books when I was in 5th grade. One of the best stories ever told. If you make it through the series you won't be dissapointed.

That movie was so sweet, i only got like 3 hours sleep after seeing it but fuck, it was great.

the best thing about going on opening night was being able to see all the dorks, 100lb guys in tights with elf ears on thinking they're cool, ah man. Some brought laptops and board games.

But to Kami's question, i think there was so much from the book that would have been very hard to do. I think that the movies should be watch to compliment the books. The thing is, is that once people watch the movies, they find the books too boring to read, which is crap, they all give up to soon.

I went last night at midnight, and the coolest thing happened. Right after the previews ended, the lights went up and an usher reminded everyone to turn off their cell phones and pagers.

Then he said that there was someone who wanted to say hello before the show started. And who walks up? Gandalf himself, Ian fuckin McKellan.

He threw down a little speech, and then introduced the film. All your premiere stories are goin suck ass compared to that one.

I think the comic things did make the movie not so boring as it would done without...

When gollum freaked out it was cool, but when gimli joked in the helmsdeep fight i didn't think it fit...

I thought it was very good, from what I can remember, alot more was changed from the books in this movie than the first. What happened to Aragorn's sword? Didn't he get that in the first movie? I read the books in grade 7 or 8 so I don't remember too much. I'll have to read the second one again.

Maximumsushi, in the books Anduril (the sword) was re-forged before the Fellowship left Rivendell. In the movies, either they just took it for granted that it happened, or they're going to re-forge the sword in the third movie.

Yes everyone, Ethan is a very wise Lord Of The Rings man....I'd listen to him. I've read the books multiple times and I couldn't remember that.

Whoops, yeah. That is correct Kami. I meant to say that he should have gotten it during the first movie, but it never happened. It's too bad they took extra time for things that never really happened or weren't in depth (Aragorn's love) and excluded somethings that were of significance, the sword.

Aragorns love was told in one o the appendices of the book I read. called The story of Aragorn and Erwin(frik I don't remember how to spell it), or something like that. havn't read it for just about a year. all 'modern' movies have some sort of love story in them so they had to have it to bring in some potential veiwers
