Another week, another Q&A! This time around the crew from Trashparty will be stopping by to answer your questions. They'll be live in this thread on Thursday, September 5th 2014, so make sure you get them in this week! I'll update the thread with the exact time when they confirm. Thanks and happy Q&A'ing.

After 4 seasons of producing webisodes, The Trashparty releases their first full-length ski movie. The goal was to make a ski movie contrasting the HD, slow-mo scramble experienced in the industry these days and rather go back to the roots portraying freeskiing at its core. This is partly reflected in the spots and style of riding, but also in that Video Entertainment has been exclusively shot in 3:4, DV quality in and around Norways capital, Oslo. Some of the movie has even been shot with a super8 camera. The piece will premiere at IF3 in Montreal, and later in Oslo.

What other skiers, crews, or producers are you guys stoked on watching?

Who inspired you guys growing up? Who inspires you today?
 
Why 4:3 and standard def? Can something be well filmed and look good if it's not in 4k HD and ultra-widescreen? I'm stoked on it, just maybe good to let those who are gonna hate it know.
 
Why is 1:34 so difficult to comprehend?

Im about to drop a trailer to a ski flick. Calling it "and stuff or something" . Does a new comer stand a chance? Should I give up? Is the industry too saturated for more films, more productions?

What inspired the distortion effects you have around :45?

The whole Trashparty is given one two-week trip to ski anywhere in the world. With adequate supplies of tight pants, Scandinavian women, and VHS tape; Where would you go and why?
 
When did you guys get big? I remember finding you guys a while a go and I watched all the Trashparty episodes but, no else had ever heard of you guys that I talked to. Now it seems you are the hype.

Hmm, maybe. For us its not a pretentioius thing where we try to unravel the roots of freeskiing with all the epicness that follows. More like "back to the roots" producing it like we did when we were 15 years old. Always forgetting showels, loosing the bungee on the way to the spot, traveling around on the tram to find spots with snow and so on. But it is damn fun!

He got a dilemma from a buddy. Either wear tight pants for 5 years, or to stop rollerblading for the rest of his life. So he is really looking forward to get back in his baggy pants.

Flattering! But yeah, look to the left of this post… Orange name! Mhm. We’ve been struggling for years to get that, but the admins here on newschoolers has been little bitches about it. Lucky for us Mag Sto has been climbing fast and steady in the illuminati the past few months, which has resulted in this, and general hype.

Pretty much whatever we can get our hands on, but mostly a Panasonic 5s with cat eye, a Phantom camcorder, a Red Mini, Sony Contour black edition, a 7D with letus, iPhone vx1000.

Getting shots in the backcountry is hopelessly impossible. The streets are a piece of cakes in comparison. We did a trip with snowboarder Danny Larsen and he taught us how to do it.

We're not hating on 4k HD shit. It can be cool - if it's slowed down enough. But until the helmet mount cameras shoots 500 fps in 4k we'll stay on the DV.

Sony, get going! You've heard it, put your FDR-AX100 tech into an Action Cam, and DV will inevitably become a relic of last year with all the gapers needing HDMI exports
