The Town - Ben Affleck

Gonna be legit. Gonna also be interesting to see Blake try to make her image more badass. I mean she's been in teenybopper movies til now, and she's going balls to the wall in the whoer department in this movie.

hopefully it's a good flick and doesnt put boston to shame especially since it was filmed in charlestown and back bay and he hired a bunch of locals
I'm a little nervous thought because written/directed a few good movies..he hasnt really hasnt acted in a good movie since good will

it looks good...but then i sit back and think to my self...its ben affleck, I've never liked a ben affleck movie. Seeing as he wrote/directed/acted in this movie I could triple not like it.

Although it is rated at 8.7 on imdb and an 86% on rotten tomatoes...
Just read a few critic review on it as well...one was hailing it as the 'best movie from boston in teh last decade'
has he never seen the departed??

looks suspeciously like the departed with less talented actors.

i'll still seem it, but i'm not that optimistic.

I have a tv and all.
But yea, you know, just never seen or heard about this ever.

Seriously, why would you make a thread about this? It's just going to be like any other movie, it doesn't look special and it barely looks good.

I read the screenplay at Warner a couple years ago, and it is one of the best stories I have ever read period. Even if the movie doesn't turn out to be amazing, I would highly recommend buying the script.

word I just read an article in the phoenix about the guy who wrote the book that this is based off..made me really want to snag the book

anyone read the book "Prince of Thieves"? thats what the movie is based off of.

it was a good read, i'm excited to see how they pull it off in the movie.

hey brosicle! How are you doing today? Good! Would you like me to go get you some finger paints and string cheese?

If you act like an infantile retard, expect to be treated like one.

I liked the movie alot, ben was legit along with most of the other acting too. Pretty cool story, lots of epic, suspenseful action, etc. I would recommend this movie for sure, especially local boston people, the whole thing is based in charlestown.

seen it. not a big deal or anything. its really good but makes me glad i dont live there. but the rating in alberta is a lil stupid. its 14a and there are tits sex and alot of f words. but what evs

^it was pretty good, imho. i think i was a little too psyched to see it and thus was inevitably a bit dissapointed.ending was slightly weak but how else do you end a movie with an admittedly cliche plotline like that?Jeremy Renner (from the Hurt Locker) was badass, pretty sick shootouts and overall entertaining.Blake Lively is BANGIN'. and there are some pretty awesome shots from a pretty cool local ballpark too! (first time its ever been seen onscreen in a hollywood movie, i was told, actually shots of the facility itself)

This was reality in the hayday of charlestown, bunch of dust smoking, bank robbing, crazy bastards, "the code of silence" lives on, hopefully this does a good representation, but charlestown isnt the same anymore, not many townies left just a bunch of yuppies!

The Departed + Public Enemies = The Town.

In comparison to The Departed, I found it a lot less crude, like in the swearing and the killings, and more of a romance film. Cheesy ending.

I'd give it an 8.5 / 10. The nun masks were scary. The Fenway Park scene was dialed.

there is no way anything ben affleck directs can be as good as anything scorsese directs.

regardless, still wanna see this

This.
I was very excited to see it since I grew up in Boston and lived their for 20 or so years...affleck hit the nail on the head with the boston attitude though, it was spot on and most of the people who saw the movie (if they've never been around boston) probably didnt pick up on a lot of the subtleties, thats one part where affleck excels - he absolutely gets the people around here
Also the locations were great, if your from the area your able to recognize teh charlestown football field, the diner near the 93/rt 1 interchange, the harvard square scenes, and of course bunker hill and the fenway scene

overall it was really good, although it lacked the action that made the trailer so enticing..it was too much of a love story

correct- it was an awesome movie- gunfire was the most realistic in a movie ive ever seen- plot was awesome, acting was great- but its not in the top 10 movies of all time-but definitely worth it to go see- I'd watch it again

i want to see it purely for the fenway scenes. I worked those days when they filmed it around/outside fenway, so i just want to see how it all turned out. Always interesting to see how the various takes etc that took hours to do perfectly end up in the movie.
