The talent pool in summit county

so i have been asking myself this for a while and decide to post so that maybe some of you well traveled skiers could tell me my question is, is the talent pool a key and breck deeper than most places, or do all large resorts boast such a high number of sick unknown skier?

park city is crawling with tons of sick unknown skiers.... can't speak for anywhere else though..

I gotta agree. Id say summit county area, SLC area, the whole quebec area, and the mammoth area are absolutely ripe with unknown talent. The east coast has kinda fallen off only because kids are getting out west at a much earlier age it seems.

i think in summit and SLC boasts the most unknown talent. in the PNW there is some insane talent, but not that much of it.

Yeah. the talent pool in summit county is rediculous. there are so many young kids that rip and when they get older they start skiing like crazy.

the kids at park city are definately a massive step up from all the other resorts ive been to in utah. when i go there i feel so much...less good...next to all of them.

the east coast will continue to produce some of the best of the skiers and they will continue to move to out west which will make the talent pool at the resorts out there that much better. its just the way it works.

pcmr is amazing. from being on of the best skiers in the park at any other mountain in utah, then going to pc and seein 4bi9 thall pep and a million other guys kill it is unreal and makes me look like a down syndrome kid when im just gettin 5s and 7s

kind of disagree...eastcoast yea r killer in the park...but big mountain they lack....face kids that can afford the sport and the coaching end up sick or they get tired out really quick

exactly. look at most of the park guys takin it to the big mountain. thall=montana pep=oregon seth=colorado pollard=oregon and a ton more are takin it out all over the place. im sure there are a few exceptions, and a million from europe, but for the most part west coast has it down pretty well

Most of the sick park skiers in Utah are from the East Coast.  The Utah locals have been busy skiing powder their whole lives.

On any given day at Keystone you will find at least 4-5 unknown (most dont even have sponsors) kids who are throwing different double flips. The rails are getting just as crazy. The talent pool is so deep at Keystone its insane.

if thats true thats absolutely insane. the part about the rails i can see, but 4-5 unsponsered kids layin down double flips for fun is so nutty!

Park City kids have the attitude of why I am not sponsored? I am so sick! Summit County kids don't have that, they are more humble since more kids are throwing down there and they aren't rebellious mormons. They might both have trust funds, but I don't know exactly where I am going with this.

i've never seen so many people killing it as i have at keystone. the thing is though, compared to quebec or anything like that, is that most everyone who is killing it out here is from the midwest or the east coast. at any rate, pretty much everyone riding here is pretty damn sick.

No, Russ has dark brown pants and a light brown jacket. Russ is so sick, but he was throwin' dub loops the other day on the line at Key.

From the looks of it, PC keeps busting out new young guns every year. I don't see that as much from SC.

yeah. that is who he was talking about. he is just partially color blind. And there aren't 5 or 6 kids at keystone throwing doubles who aren't sponsored, just most of them are sponsored.

i think more and more unknowen kids are around because soemtimes its jsut a pain to get sponcarized. liek if u wanna go through with that you have to compeat all the time spend money on all that shit and get people to video you all the time. and alot of us normal kids with schoola nd work dont have time for that. iv always wanted to get sponcered but never have had the time or will power to go through with it. id rather learn soem skick dubbel flips on my own for the pleasure of stomping it. i think a ton of kids outthere ride for fun rather than the sceen. or atleast thats how i ride. and im form the east and yea there is liek good kids but nothing super out of the ordenary. it all depends on the park u ride at i guess.

Russ needs to be sponsored just because his getup is so haggard. He's so sick though, and you should see him in a pool. I hear he's crazy.

I could name a couple off the top of my head right now. Unsponsored or even really unheard of kids. There are more than you think.

THere are alot of sponsored kids whose names wouldn't stick out though. Not many of lines mountain comand is really big but they are all sponsored by line...just not huge names. Most people who throw doubles could get sponsored if they really tried.

Just from the kids I ski with at Keystone, neither Drake or Russ even get flow gear and they can throw doubles. I think you guys underestimate how much it takes to stand out in a place like Summit or PC.

Drake wears some white pants, with the mostly black fur hooded TJ Schiller jacket. He wears a black Capix helmet generally, and rides on 4frnt TNKs or his brothers Invaders.

I was watching Russ throw the double lincolns on Saturday and it was rediculous. If he made a really good promo vid and sent it all over the place I'm sure he could pick up something.

Yea, next time I go up I'm filming him. I don't care what he says. I've already kind of talked to Josh already about him. He just needs a vid now.

the talent at mammoth is pretty legit i will say, lots of crazy unkowns

altho i do think summit county is the deepest
