The Surface Issue

Hey, guys. I don't mean to just hate on Surface, but I have had some issues.

I purchased Surface Park Blanks about 4 weeks ago. Admittedly, they are a really fun ski. However the first weekend brought serious cracks in the edge underfoot. The following weekend, a weekend where I spent most of the time judging(sitting around) the edge on the tail collapsed into the core of the ski.

This was the point where I first tried contacting Surface. I sent an email explaining, and with pictures. No response.

The next time I went skiing the whole tail delamed. And the edge underfoot is destroyed. I also noticed what looks like spider fracturing.

After sending another email to Surface, I commented on their Instagram. This time they actually responded, apologizing and asking for my information. After giving it to them I have heard nothing yet. Either they have serious issues with their technology, or they just want to appear favorable to consumers. I am not that serious of a park skier but my skis fell apart in my ten days with them.

This obviously brings into question the durability and customer service of Surface skis. This company depends on consumers similar to myself, what does this say about Surface? Has anyone else had a similar experience with Surface? Any ideas on the next step?

I guess continue trying to contact Surface and see if they'll do anything. That really sucks that you're having issues so quickly, but to be fair, you bought one of the cheapest skis on the market... If it's just one ski, pick up a single replacement ski?

how does a ski get fucked up just sitting around?

there is more to this then what you are saying

Hey Cam,

Apparently your 16cmahoney@gmail.com email account is not working as its bounced back to our warranty department 3 times. If you need proof of that here on NS we can provide that. And, we responded back to your Instagram comment as well.

Hate to do this, but since you choose take a warranty claim to a chat room, we have no choice. Here is what the email said, again, we have sent this email to your Gmail account 3 times:

"Hey Cam,

Sorry to hear about your skis. Our Park Blanks are a huge success this year and we are under 2% warranty after selling hundreds of them into North America, Japan and Central Europe.

This is the first message that I have seem from you. Have you contacted Jared at warranty@freeskibrands.com yet? He is super fast to respond.

Send him an email ASAP and see what he can do for you!

- Mike Schneider "

If you would like to converse here on NS thats fine too. We'd prefer you check your Gmail account and get it functioning properly so we can get figure out a solution for you.

Thanks buddy and hope to hear back soon.

- Mike

So I used to have some surfaces and emailed you guys quite a bit on a variety of things. I used both my yahoo and Google mail. Are those broken as well? Or did it go to spam? What's up?

at first sight of this thread i decided i would keep my mouth shut about surface durability. butttttttt, two of my friends both had tips and tails blow up on them without doing much. ive heard stories of surface holding up especially well, but for the most part theyre crap. theyre cheap for a reason op. if you plan on thrashing in the park... no ski will not get edge cracks and eventually get destroyed, but not as fast as you describe about the surfaces
