The Stratton Update Thread

That looks so sick! Too bad I left at 230. Glad they got it up though. Tyrol was getting real old.
There was a decent amount of fresh pow in the Kidderbrook area yesterday. Some big drifts. Nice surprise.
Wish I was up there now....

looks like a really fun park to lap! cool flow for such a narrow trail. didn't try to do too much with it.

soo stoked for them to have the big park going. definitely heading up asap. thanks for the updates and everything btw

i was at stratton all weekend and as the above folks are saying, the medium park is definitely fun. The smaller park is a good place to get warmed up and work out the kinks (especially for an old man like me). On the days I was there it seemed like the rider would need a fair amount of speed to hit the step up (feature number 11 in the above video). The first and last jump seem to be the best (as far as tabletops go) Today was brutally cold though. Riding down the mountain wasn't too bad but sitting on the lift was almost unbearable. Did about 4 runs through the trees on some of the fresh/drifting snow before calling it a day.

Also, i abhor the exit to the medium park. That trail is terribly slow...and trying to keep your speed in order to make it up to the sun bowl lift is impossible.

I hear you there with the trail being slow, but it really isn't that bad. If you just stand and even butter a little, you can easily make it without pushing

Face shots all day long in the trees on Sunday. That's all I have to say. The weather was pretty brutal, though.

middlebrook needs a little work, first jump is small and icy, 2nd is decent, 3rd is too lippy. rails are fun but a little too heavy on the flat rail department. that said though, i still enjoyed skiin the park

its open, but the park isn't open yet. it's just half groomed and the other half is getting pounded by the snowblowers. i haven't seen it in 2 weeks though so i gotta think it'll be open next weekend for MLK weekend like they planned. last i saw (2 weeks ago) they had enough snow for a wall and a half of pipe and they were blowing a lot on the slope.
i really hope it opens next weekend. if it does ill be psyyyyyched

yeah pipe up this weekend (longest pipe in the northeast i guess/semi-claim/) and they said big park soon to follow so as long as they can continue to blow snow and push it around im guessing within a week or so.

almost forgot! Cold Wars rail jam this weekend! saturday at 4 is reg i think. more details as we get closer

Hey Cole just wanted to say that I was up there last week and got a good view of the pipe build... very impressive.

Massive and looks great. swung by on Monday. Lower Middlebrook quality stuff too. But watched a Stratton employee who was giving us the tour though get f'd up on the first jump... pretty comical cause he was ok.

I'll be back up for sure soon.

good to hear. thanks for the positive comment as well.
haha thats pretty funny the dude giving you a tour got effed. must've been pretty embarrassing haha.
yeah whenever your around let me know so we can shreddd

*UPDATE!!!*

looking through the binoculars from my window the jumps are looking realll nice and big. it's hard to tell cuz its a couple miles away but the big piles they are shaping look about the same size as they do for the open. GET PSYCHED!

sorry i couldnt make it over to the park today dawg, race didn't end till late.
parks are siiiick right now though

How are the snow conditions right now? I know it just rained but I was wondering if they had blown enough snow for a decent cover.

the coverage is still realllyyy good all over the mountain. we didn't lose as much snow as i though we would have.
it is pretty golf-bally though right now but it should get better quickly because last night was -20, today is -15, tonight is -15, and tomorrow will be like 10 or so, maybe a little warmer but it won't take long for the snow to get back to the way it was before the rain.

Sounds like the big S has put something together worthwhile. Have not been there since Dec. Aside from some adjustments the park sounds solid. I guess it does pay off to have Planet build your pipe for you, I wonder if their paycheck was from Stratton or Burton. Does anyone ride it as the superpipe was forgotten there for a while. Kudos Stratton what happens next year?
