The Stoked Thread

I looked down and saw red, and thought to myself "who posts here who's red" then I saw Macmahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

hahah yeah they do. butttttt.......

my buddy who grew up skiing baker and hood is afraid to come skiing with me out here. he's quite confident that he literally just can't handle east coast woods..... and he grew up cruising around PNW with mike wilson and a good chunk of the nimbus crew.

My 21st was awesome, and now my head feels horrible. We started the night out at a local brewery drinking some fine brews at their little bar, then had a kick ass dinner where I consumed far too much 151 and hit on our waitress excessively (well, just about the right amount for both). The last thing I remember is singing along to Slayer at a bowling alley, then I woke up on someone's couch this morning. I don't have any homework to do and won't be leaving until sunday or monday, so I think I might go out again tonight because one of my friends is having her 21st.

oh and the reason i came in here:

just replaced one of my two wobbly 21" sony CRT's with a 23" Apple LCD, courtesy of cracklist.... i mean craigslist!

everything looks so much better on widescreen displays, i actually went "WOW" when I hopped on NS.

stoked on less eye strain, and a monitor that doesn't wobble! I might actually be able to tell if photos are in focus now! YAY!

We found the reverse on my trip out west. We were surprising locals with some of the tree lines we were skiing, and anything tight stays fresh for days and days after a storm. Trees aren't tight unless I have to ski with my poles infront of my face

My lens just came. OMG.

This thing makes my 70-200 f/4 seem like a little toy. It's fucking awesome, and just made a few things much more bearable for the time being. I can't wait to go shoot in the desert!

Agreed with that. EC powder in the trees makes me wet. Just wish the elevation was higher so we had more of those powder days.

yeah i've seen it and it was pretty good.

Gotta love the people that question everything :D

just bought a replacement battery for my cell phone since the old one wouldn't hold a charge for more than a couple hours. $2.99 shipped! stoked it cost virtually nothing and makes a huge difference

hahah exactly! on the east coast, part of the reason to wear a helmet is so that instead of taking a branch to the face, you just tilt your head down and bounce it off the brain bucket!

i switched to a smith variant this year because my old helmet was over 5 years old and i didnt trust it to take impacts and save my brain. i miss the longer visor my old helmet had, because the smith variant does allow trees to slap me in the face. and i dont want to ruin my beautiful visage.

My visor on my Giro nine mx saved my face and my goggles today from certain pain/destruction when I skied right into a thick branch. Hardly moved and didn't see it coming. I really want the variant, but I can totally see what you mean by it.

my first helmet's visor was attached via duct tape. might end up doing the same with my variant. also snow gets on my goggles when its chucking now. yet another plus for big visor. does it outweigh the ability to put your goggles up? hmmmmmm.

My boss is currently making his video application for Top Chef. Stoked for him, I hope he gets on! He's a super talented guy.

turned in my application to the Art Institute of Las Vegas for audio production this afternoon... just got done over round those parts dealing with admissions and financial aid and am just waiting to hear from them. i should hear something relatively soon since the quarter i applied for starts April 6. crossing toes (fingers are busy with Lena's...).

I was just at a bar with some friends. Some weird friend of a friend was totally wasted, and with some dude in a wheelchair actually at the bar outside smoking a cigg shouts "People in wheelchairs, FUCK THEM ALREADY."

Everyone looked horrified. I was trying so hard not to laugh.

Finally am starting to get more of this writing stuff in a form that I like, and that people can relate to. I've also been writing most everyday, which feels good.

Tonight's effort:

Crevasses

cluttered as the dresser is

her dried roses stand out in the gloom of

dim midnight that filters past the door

Valentine’s day was a while back, collecting dust while they

become brittle and crack

he’ll notice the bond between become similar

to old yellow wood glue

reminded of musty closets of outdated newspapers

information that once meant something,

same way the roses did, same amber piss stained glow

but is old news now, jaundiced and varicose with age

water vapor hangs in the air to taunt at gravity

a concentration gradient pulled it from the roses,

from their skin,

from the sweat while they explored meaning between bedsheets

sucked their bond hard and inflexible, dry like

lips near so much salt water

roses are lumber now, hardened as hearts do

set into set and stanzaic forms

and their bond is shivered with cracks of the ice floes

love is like a red, bled, rose

parched and wanting fulfillment of novelty

splash of exhilaration

that river stopped running before Valentine’s day

even if the water returns

roses swell, and vases crack

im going to end all conversations on the phone at work today "treat your mother right".

on the ateam i only saw mr. t in BDUs. pretty fucking awesome to see him in short shorts and striped tube socks.

Nice I'm looking to pick up a 22. The real question is..........Did you get semi-auto??????

I think I'm gonna buy an old school used one though.

Stoked on finishing the last growler of magic hat from my trip 2 weeks ago. That makes it 7 growlers I own now from that place, it looks quite classy all in a row over the cabinets. It's like my shrine to magic hat :)
