The Stoked Thread

Had a great time last night with Bachelor #1 a/k/a Mr. Black Hawk. Had a few drinks, talked A LOT and got to know each other a bit better before his drunk annoying friends showed up. I gave them 20 mins of my time and bounced home. We'll see about this.

Tonight:

The Police, Elvis Costello, great venue, good company and as many gin and tonics that I can drink. stoked

Ultra long weekend:)

Decided to take today off since ive been super fucking busy and i slept in and everything...going to be a good weekend :)

bbq at my friend's house tomorrow. My good friend Rich is playing from 6-10.

or check out this sweet video I made a few years ago of him playing at my parent's place!

On Monday evenings I play food runner & busser, and this past Monday was insanely busy. Guests came in all at once and filled the dining room. We were of course short staffed because Mondays are generally slow. One server told me that Devin, the chef/owner, said, "Is it just me, or did Ashley just kick total ass?" - which he then told his wife, who in turn paid me the compliment.

You don't get compliments from these people, they just don't do it.

I'm stoked. It feels good. And they should learn to do it more often.

What if I told you I had to stick a thermometer up the bears ass...would that swing your vote?

at Lollapalooza right now... GREAT TIME!

also, called Les last night and left her a very fucked up message... if she can even understand any of it. i was rollin on MDMA, drunk off wine, and smoked about a quarter of dankness, so my understandability level was likely quite low. but have no fear, i will try, try again.

STOKED.

uhhh... Whats cuter, someone sticking a thermometer up a bears ass or a bear having a thermometer stuck up it's own ass?

Theory: Your decision on which you think is cuter may determine whether you'd be a top or bottom in a gay relationship.

hahaha...could have been worse though. The one guy there had to measure the bears nuts...poor bastard

Stoked because I'm starting plans for another backpacking trip across the Beartooth range in SW Montana. Last year I went with one friend and we took a super gnarly route straight across the most rugged part of the range with 60-70lb packs. After a few costly miscalculations, bad weather, and almost dying on a glacier I don't think I will be taking that route again!

Two years ago I went to fish at Lower Aero Lake (probaby the first place I'll go again) and happened to hit the cutthroat spawn in the tributary creek. Imagine a 6-12" deep, 15' wide creek that has about 800-1,000 fish in the first 150' and that's what I did for two days. The smallest one I caught was 17", and the biggest was this fatty 22" female:

I think I'm going to put more of a fishing emphasis on this one because my knee still isn't 100%, so I might traverse a plateau and fish about 20-30 different lakes over the course of a week or so. But I doubt I'll be able to find another person dumb enough to join me, which is fine because I love this place more than anywhere else (except maybe the tundra in northern Canada) and will have all the fish to myself! I also won't have friends complaining about the time I tried to kill them either, which will be nice.

im in asia, and the tv told me that marshmallow robots aren't part of a nutritious breakfast. currently in seoul, ill keep you guys updated when i can, but fyi, asiana airlines ha a sweet video system, but quite possibly the hardest seats i've ever sat on in a plane, but i saw business class, full recliners, and first class had only 4 seats per row, and it was in a 747.

mike that cartoon was great.

spent the weekend in newport, ri. great time. listened to a few good bands saturday then trey anastasio came on and killed it all by himself. tons of phish hits plus much more. storm rolled in fucking brutal but we weathered it out and damien/stephen marley proceeded to play a sick sick sick ass show then the black crowes came on & chris robinson and crew killed it as usual. almost bed time. kinda drunk, lil burnt from the beach today, but still stoked. i'll throw some pics up tomorrow, maybe tonight if i convince myself to go make another drink which sounds grrrrrreat right now. my bed looks super comfy though too

haha I couldn't be fucked getting out of bed and walking to my lecture in the rain today, so I didn't.

Just checked my emails and the lecture was cancelled anyway, so glad I stayed in bed!

haha you kept calling too except I was fuckin loaded at the concert with my dad (which was kick ass btw) and when you called saturday, I was wasted again. gotta start early ya heard

how was rage?!?!

Just set up another date with mr. black hawk for drinks this evening.

I could use one now though if anyone wants to stop by and save me from insanity!

I used to live in MT. If you make your way to Missoula, look up the Buck's Club. Their daily special is a burger and a beer for a buck!

Stoked on a bunch of hiking trails I've been scoping out in the Catskills region. Found this one trail Pecoy Notch on Sugarloaf Mountain in the Hunter area, that his this awesome rock throne built in the stone quarry that I want to check out.

If anyone is in the area and wants to hike it, let me know!

My black hawk man is fuckin fiiiiiiine and sooooooo much fun. Im liking this so far - minus the hangovers

The flugtag was one of the most fun things I have ever done. The whole event was just Huge and Rediculous and Awesome. What a great weekend!

An even better person to go after is Doug (Mr. Bishop). I can honestly say I've formulated 75% of my internet theory based on listening to this guy speak. He's one intelligent mo fo!

I get to ride a chairlift tomorrow. It's lame as fuck, a little trip for the camp. They call it the "Sky Ride". It won't be winter, and I won't have my board, but I'll still be on a lift. So, stoked on that.

Zipping in an 80 doing 100km/h when I got gunned in a speed trap today, I slammed on the breaks and the cop let me keep rolling on by. I was stoked.

Stoked I stumbled onto the top of Highmount (which I just realized is like ATTACHED to Bellayre after googling the GPS coords) today after some rediculious 4x4ing in the Subaru. Shot some panoramas for school; hopefully they turn out sick.

Ashley, how is Highmount for shredding? It looked fucking SWEET from the top, the liftline trail just dropped right off, looks like a blast. And the satellite image shows this sweet looking zig zag trail too. Weeds were a little higher than I'd like, but other than that looks like some mighty fine EC BC.

Haha jea Highmount!

Come down when there's powder! It's sooooo much fun - minus that lip at the bottom that gave me my first concussion hahaha

Dude, you were on Highmount? Wtf - I'm seriously a minute down the road.

And shredding Highmount is better than shredding Belleayre, no joke. When there's snow of course. The terrain there is better. And it's so easy to get there. 150 feet off the furthest trail to the west and you're there. It's like a deserted western town when you get there too. My best run was a natural halfpipe/T-bar line. Riding up and down the sides and in between the T's. So dope. We can check it out this winter for sure. I know I don't even have to ask Le if she wants to go. =)

Haha yeah you dont have to ask me at all.

That tbar line is crazy fun. Once you get over there, take skiers left and theres a super fun windy trail with a good incline and some drops to play on. I love Highmount. Last time I was down there on a pow day was with my dad, who was struggling in it. I did a few runs by myself and then had him get in the car with me and drove over there to show him where he'd have to pick me up. Sure enough I come blasting down the face of Highmount, shredding about 2 feet of glorious pow with a shit eating grin and my dad's chillin next to the car with this huge smile on his. He says "I want to ski that like you did" Made me laugh so hard because for years Ive wanted to ski like him and now the tables have turned. For the first time in years, he's getting excited for the ski season. And after that paragraph, so am I!
