The Stoked Thread

Yeah I know. Going to a wedding in Okotoks on the 28th, then heading to the Dinosaur museum in Drumheller on the 29th, my gf's cabin (northwest of Red Deer a bit) for Monday-Tuesday, then back to Calgary Wednesday for a little business in the morning, then south of the city for some horseback riding, then a bunch more of our friends arrive on the Thursday. Then is party party party. I can't effing wait.

oh sweet. the drumheller museum is pretty fun.

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday too. would have been weird if it was the same one! but no mine is in Edmonton.

maybe we'll run into each other at stampede. have a good trip!

holy shit, there was just a huge lightning storm swirling around our house and this big ass burst of lightning hit a tree in the yard and exploded it! it was fucking loud, and like 4' pieces of tree flew everywhere, I'm gonna have to pick them up, but it was fucking sweet.

Just picked up my bro and his friends from a party and gave them all a ride home. Its was a car ride full of drunkiness youth, ohh the memories..

my shitty day went from zero to hero in the last 2 hours, gotta love when that happens cause now the day is FLYING by :P

Anyone in here remember claiming pages like we were paid in the black watch sargents cult? hahah...that thread was fucking huge too...like an earlier version of 'stoked/not stoked' thread.

at the time it was a cult for the leader of BW to discuss new members and shit...nothing fancy but it had a huge fucking thread in it that had more claims then...well...CLAIM

Lame.

PH is teh new shit. Those other cults suxor!!! (I don't truly mean that, I know they hold a lot of memories)

the original hidden cults were the shittttttt! those were fun days.

stoked that i'm out of work in 5. probably spent a good 2 1/2 hours of work time on ns today. yah work!

pretty much all we had to do was change the id number in the link. you could put in any number you wanted so everyone that knew about it just created their own forums, were given the id to one a friend created, or you sat there for hours on end just pumping in random numbers to find forums. some were pretty obvious. like 420 or area codes

stoked sox won

I remember hacking the donators forum after getting my lifejacket profile banned. When I posted in it they changed things around so none donators couldn't get in but I don't think it was all my fault other people were doing it too so...

This would NEVER happen this day and age

One bitterly cold night in January of 1935, the mayor (New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia) turned up at a night court that served the poorest ward of the city. LaGuardia dismissed the judge for the evening and took over the bench himself. Within a few minutes, a tattered old woman was brought before him, charged with stealing a loaf of bread. She told LaGuardia that her daughter's husband had deserted her, her daughter was sick, and her two grandchildren were starving. But the shopkeeper, from whom the bread was stolen, refused to drop the charges. "It's a real bad neighborhood, Your Honor," the man told the mayor. "She's got to be punished to teach other people around here a lesson."LaGuardia sighed. He turned to the woman and said, "I've got to punish you. The law makes no exceptions. Ten dollars or ten days in jail." But even as he pronounced sentence, the mayor was already reaching into his pocket. He extracted a bill and tossed it into his famous hat, saying, "Here is the ten dollar fine which I now remit; and furthermore, I am going to fine everyone in this courtroom fifty cents for living in a town where a person has to steal bread so that her grandchildren can eat. Mr. Bailiff, collect the fines and give them to the defendant."The following day, New York City newspapers reported that $47.50 was turned over to a bewildered woman who had stolen a loaf of bread to feed her starving grandchildren. Fifty cents of that amount was contributed by the grocery store owner himself, while some seventy petty criminals, people with traffic violations, and New York City policemen, each of whom had just paid fifty cents for the privilege of doing so, gave the mayor a standing ovation.

Nice to hear stories where people still have a heart.

I'm only 25 pages away from finishing the first novel i've read cover-to-cover in over 3 years!

Yeah it should but then again how many people are stealing loafs of bread these days? Not too many. Instead, they're stealing cars, guns, money, etc to feed their addictions.

Things like Maslow's basic psychological needs shouldn't be an issue in this day in age in countries like ours. Its great to see how far we have come as a whole but the lowest rung of society still barely scrapes by...

i can't help it...i read 80 or so pages then i get bored with the book and walk away. I have 6 or 7 books about a 1/4 finished :P

I'm watching Euro 2008, Spain v. Russia at my house with 2 guys from spain, a chick from Sweden, a guy from Scotland (but lived in Tunisia for 10 years), and my brother. This shit is nuts. Those Spaniards fucking love their futbol. Especially since the quarterfinals is as far as Spain has made it since 1964 or something. Shit's CRAZY!!!
