The Stoked Thread

Thats a sweet idea dude, to do it on a plotter though with the honeycomb design would take a bajillion hours of weeding all the bits out, it might be more practical getting a digital printer to print them out on a single bit of vinyl?

If you want to have some summer testing done, feel free to send some to NZ! I need to do something about the state of my poles haha

Yeah the stickers are being cut out of vinyl (hopefully today). Hopefully the honeycomb design works out with the diecutter :S

I guess it would also be helpful to state that the right side (dark end) would end at the handle grip and the left side (faded to white) would be where the basket is.

I got the concepts for 2 more desings down with the possibility of a third (not sure if the machine can make it without it being a total pain in the ass to do).

Kinda fun to just brainstorm and sketch shit down...so im pumped...work blows so this has be stoked!

I just got a call from my boss, he wants me to start working on monday! Time to start rollin' in the moneeeyyyyyyyyy.

I also have my first ever bike race on the 8th, so everybody e-cheer for me! The sad part is, that will probably be the first time on my DH bike this year, so things could get interesting.

i've been frantically looking for a job since leaving the golf course i was working at, but having a very hard time finding anything. well, yesterday i got two jobs in about half an hour. as i was driving to an interview to work in the kitchen at a local high-end restaurant, i got a phone call from the bike shop i used to work at. they're under new ownership, so i went over there about two weeks ago to see if they were still hiring. the owner had me leave my name and contact info, but i hadn't heard from him since. the economy up here sucks ass and he just bought the shop, so i figured it was a no-go, but as soon as i picked up the phone he asked me two questions- still looking for a job? want to stop by monday to discuss your hours and pay this summer? got the job at in the kitchen, too, so hopefully i'll be on the clock about 60 hrs a week starting June 9 through the end of August. might not sound like much, but that's around 6 grand that the government knows about- around twice as much as i was hoping to be able to save to move to Humbolt at the end of the summer.

so, i'm stoked i get to wrench this summer AND work evenings in a kitchen... makin some paper.

Well, I just heard from lesley (she's in north carolina after all the shit that happened with her brother and his wife)

No, she's not in jail, surprisingly, apparently her mom jacked the girl up against a wall, at which point the girl decided to throw a toaster at Lesley's head. Lesley was not injured and at this point things are settling out, she just asked me to inform you all about it.

So I hate this lab I work in. Great people, cool experiments, terrible management. So I had enough and said June was my quite date. One of my PI's contributing MD's (coincidentally the top peripheral nerve surgeon in the NW) and I got to talking, and he basically begged me to stay on and do this human study and get the thing fucking finished. I requested a pay raise. He said $18 an hour. I wasnt happy. So after discussing the possibility of a stipend, he basically said "stipends are a bitch to work out with the financial office" and instead told me to just clock hours starting in June. 40 hours a week in fact, at $18. I will be perhaps actually working a total of maybe 10 hours during that month. I'm basically going to be getting paid for 120 hours of vacation time when I'm cruising Alaksa for the end of the month. Should be $6000, minus taxes for about one months work.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHhhhhh, summer.

*Hands behind head smiling*

I just had a girl over to swap books, talk about writing, and basically geek out. She's nice, so I gave her a reading list that will probably scar her for life if she finishes it. I'm trying to rid the world of people who think cliched love stories are actually good (masterplan). I also think she has potential to be a really cool person if she can be exposed to something other than sorority girls and the "culture" that goes with it. We'll see. Maybe I just can't read people and she really is destined to be like that forever. I may update this at a later date if it succeeds or fails immensely.

I'd buy the pole stickers. great idea.

I just got the sweetest matt & nat bag everrr. my boyfriend has good taste in bags! weird, but good for me.

also, fabulous weekend. my bf got a fire pit in his back yard which we made good use of.

Stoked my buddy is moving to Colorado for school.....

well I won't see him much, which sucks, but it TOTALLY gives me an excuse to chill in the Rockies for extended periods of time!!!

I just went to the library (only live here for a few weeks) and got blinged out with a stylin new library card. I gots mad hookupz on books an shit. Like fo free.

No but really, I'm psyched to be able to learn things for myself and not for a degree and to feed my intellectual appetite while I go on extended fire fighting missions.

I had a fucking amazing longboard session today after work!

i can finally stick oldschool kickflips 90+% of the time...i was just nailing em left right and center today. Plus I thought up a variation throwing a body varial 180 into it which I never landed but I'm going to learn. Then my buddy figured out how to do standup slide/speed checks (which I had been trying unsuccessfully to do for the past 2 weeks) which ended up showing me how to do em so now i can do em too! they are super key for steep hills to control speed.

plus i did the longest manuals i've ever done (which wasnt really much but still sweet)...if my buddy gets a battery for his camera soon i'm going to try and put together a little edit.

so stoked on riding!!!

yo aren't there rocks under the water that would work the people falling outta the boats?

yeah that would go in the Non-Stoked thread. everyone gets bumps and bruises now and then, hence the helmets. In super shallow rocky creeks its not unusual to see guys with pads and the kayak equiv of full faces.
