The Stoked Thread

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. She really gets rolling after the first paragraph. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong',

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep. Always. .

Best,

Wendi Aarons

The F-16 comment and 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong' comment were gold....haha

I always wondered why they used that shitty slogan

stoked to catch the Monaco Grand Prix... and i'm lovin that they removed the traction control from the cars. these cars are whipping all over the place.

yes. from what i understand, this is the first year traction control is illegal, as are electronically controlled brakes. that's what the commentators on Speed said, but who knows if they're right or not- they called Lance Armstrong "the five-time winner of the Tour de France". these douche bags were European sports commentators and still didn't know he won seven times? come on...

All F1 teams this season (and beyond) are using a common ECU developed by the FIA (and Microsoft) than restricts the use of traction control. It seems to have made a little difference, one example being Felipe Massa looked like he had a hard time adjusting to it the first 2 races or so. We've yet to see it in the wet, that is likely where the biggest difference will be. Just like in the past when its wet, you see the drivers that really have great car control (Alonso being one of the best of the current crop). The wet races are always the most fun to watch and I've never seen a wet one at Monaco, which could be VERY interesting.

I won a very important race and picked up three new sponsors. Pretty stoked on that.

Also, I get to go up to Alaska from June 9-18 and see my best friend in the world for the first time in two years. Super ridiculously elated. However, I won't be staying with my parents due to a falling out.

Ninja's HUGE. He weighs over forty pounds now, and he's only four months old. It's really hard to believe he's the same puppy I picked up from the shelter two months ago, but he's soooo good, and I love him to death. He keeps me going.

Leaving for a few days in Rutland tomorrow.

Saturday to Wednesday in our new apartment, with very little furniture as the official move is not until August.

It is going to be fun though. Hoping to explore and wander about some.

Sarah....you have to post some more pictures of ninja.....pleeeeeease. i bet he is super adorable.

i'll post more pictures of timmy. hes huge too, well his body is huge, its getting thicker by the day, his head is ackwardly small now. haha. i love him.

i'm excited to go to the cottage and teach my dog how to swim. woot. and i'm excited to make 75 of the most delicious hamburgers you've ever tasted for a bbq in a couple of weeks.

My landlord just told me he served my neighbor upstairs with eviction papers. Ruh roh. Something about having until July 21st to move out, he thinks the guy is going to take him to court, etc etc. So maybe by next season I'll have a 2 bdrm apt? Maybe. I dunno how much better it is than this one, even if this is only 1 bdrm. I heard he didn't really take care of it upstairs, and that grosses me out.

Just went for the first mountain bike ride of the season. Despite being super out of shape and having an untuned bike it was a great ride

I just spent the morning at a Kite-Swap at Surfside in Ottawa. They were selling off used Windsurfers and kites. I picked up a 16 M kite at a really good price with lines and bar. I also picked up a harness and a pump and i'm good to go! I'm stoked because I didn't need to sell off my Kayak to get more capital. It was just meant to be. I had the right about of cash on me and the best part was it was the past few months poker winnings which paided for both the kayak and Kite :)

I went longboarding as well the weather was something else today. Hot with a cool breeze and blue skies and chicks showing skin cause summer is here!

I have a bunch on myspace, but the most recent are a month old. I think my camera battery is dead, and I've been too frustrated and busy to charge the damn thing. When I do, though, I'll let you know!

Ninja's head used to be HUGE on him, and now it seems so tiny. I know Sage's head was the last thing to really grow, so I'm guessing Timmy and Ninja's heads will get bigger when they're a year old or something. Timmy looks great! How much does he weigh now?

Sarah....I just signed in to myspace...Ninja is soo cute.

Timmy - I'm guessing he weighs around 85-90 pounds now. He is ridiculously strong, it's pretty incredible. I think he is afraid of water....maybe not though...maybe he just doesn't know what to do with it. We'll see.

I made 50 hamburgers today. They look delicious, but I haven't tested them yet.

Ive been craving soup dumplings for months and Im going to get some today!!! Heading out in about 20 to pick up my friend Molly and we're heading to Chinatown in NYC!!! what what Joe's Shanghai get ready!!! Muhahaha

What a day, what a day, oh what a day!!!!!

The weather couldnt of been any better. There was absolutely no traffic on the way down. I didnt get lost and the food...wow, the food was amazing as always. We went crazy this time and totally tried shit out of the norm, something my friend Mol is not used to. I ordered 2 servings of the soup dumplings, which is what this restaurant is known for. On top of that we had duck hearts, jelly fish, salt and pepper shrimp, chicken feet and two beers. It was all so fuckin amazing and only cost $45. Definitely one of the best meals Ive ever had. The best part of this place is that its communal, which means you sit at a table with other people and eat. We were the only two white people in the entire joint and I loved every minute of it.

I want to move to the city so badly. If only it werent so damn expensive.

To prove I'm ot just out to depress all of NS today.

I am major stoked on cathcing and eating the biggest catfish of my life so far this weekend. Went out for a little soothing paddle with my dad and friends, came back with a 23 inch and around 10 pound catfish.
