The Stoked Thread

hahah awesome! I also love home decorating.

I am so excited to register for my wedding, how I am going to get Dave to come along to pick things out, I don't know, maybe he won't, maybe I will take my maid of honor, my best friend Brian. He has great taste. haha.

My plan is to just register for a few things, but mostly I would like airline tickets, to fly to Australia again.

Yup they exist. Email McD (doug) to see whats up.

As for stoke, I'm pretty stoked on fucking everything all the time right now and it's insane. I've started a personal journal/book of thoughts and i've already written out 12 pages in 2 days. Topics you ask? all over the fucking board...lol

- rush hour traffic issues and possible solutions

- Successful business models and why each succeeded in the western world

- An analysis of whether or not high rise buildings are sufficient dwellings for sustainable human existence (yes, there is potential but not right now)

- A critique of the western education system and how it fosters unhealthy competition among our young minds instead of useful teamwork and collaboration skills which we so desperately need. I included a possible teaching technique for young kids to help combat this problem and build good team work experiences from a young age.

- how fucking insane the world is going to be in 10 years, 20 years. Me trying to comprehend this= totally floored. I suggested the idea that perhaps more far off in the future (50+ years maybe?), businesses will no longer be the main source of employment. That employment will come from 'public projects' instead because the world will be too dynamic/high paced for a static entity like a business to exist. The bureaucracy and paper work (and the resulting backlogs) were the source of the decline (just a theory i came up with...i dont necessarily agree with it in its basic form).

...that's a sample :P

kinda random eh?

So stoked :)

Plus, it's IS my turn to come to your neck of the woods. No reason to be here when the mountain isn't open.

JEA ME TOO!!

First stop will be the ghetto chopper. I gotta get food and whatnot. Plus you get the opportunity to see what I deal with every day. Haha its going to be great!

Ryno, you might like this website (if you don't know about it already).

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/

There are tons of forums and threads on urban design issues, transportation and infrastructure, architecture, local development and politics and more. I'm not sure if there is a dedicated Toronto forum, but definitely one for Ontario. I follow the local Vancouver forum (as well as BC and Alberta forums) regularly, and find it very interesting. I'm also a nut when it comes to design, development and infrastructure issues (Oh, the things I would do if I were dictator of BC.....and had 50 billion dollars or so to spend).

And I know a couple of you other guys are in architecture so you'd probably appreciate the site as well. Lots of threads on new skyscrapers, design, renderings, plans, all that sort of stuff from all over the world. There is a pretty big following of the site from all over too and most of the threads get local updates quite regularly with pictures of progress and stuff. Check it out.

Awesome!

I'm at work right now but i'll check that out when i get home tonight (nerdy friday night i know :P).

As for stoke...im just redlining the stoke-o-meter right now. I just found a methology that thrumps the soil fertility specialists method in accuracy for our modelling and my boss agrees with my way too. Pretty sweet confidence booster.

Plus my cubical location is in the back corner so no one bothers me (or can tell what im doing) which is nice. And everytime my boss comes for an update i have more done then he expected (and i spend 1/2 my time in the web doing other shit).

Bomb first week on the new job. My gf is coming up tonight for a couple days too hopefully so its WOOOOO time!

the riding is sick. sure, not progressive, but that kind of riding is on par with ripping wide open bowls with two feet of fresh. sure, it's not technically challenging, but it's some of the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, and theraputic riding you'll ever do. nothing's quite like ripping down some single track on a mellow hill that last forever. of their two films, the Collective and Roam, that segment is easily my favorite (well, the seg with Peaty and Shandro is pretty insane, too, and the Whistler seg from Roam is a close third). so, don't feel the need to apologize or make any excuses... if someone doesn't get it, they need to get on a mountain bike.

wow...the 2nd had had me hook line and sinker...where were they? i need to go there

i've never done any singletrack DH...but that looked fun as hell

yea, it's like the sickest seg ever. I definitely wasn't apologizing, just saying that if you don't bike, this isn't like super dope switch cork 10's of biking. you got it right on, it's more just like the Idea stuff. fun.

and Roam is my favorite movie ever, the dj's at jordie lunns house are a sick seg too

Finally got around to watching American Gangster last night - what a great movie. I guess i'm stoked about that.

Not stoked that I started watching it at midnight (not knowing how long it went for) and got to bed around 3:15am.

Gonna go ski my motherfuckin ass off today, wooo!! Also saw U.S.E and Common Market live last night, such a great fucking show. Really rediculous tho, why is it that as soon as I start a meaningful relationship, I suddenly start getting offers of very reasonable ass?

Stoked on weed to the dome all weekend. And Magic Hats. Yummy Magic Hats. And the Ghetto Chopper...that's an experience all in it's own.

Haha yeah I think I may take a break from the greenery and hopefully rebuild some braincells in the process....ya never know. I was so baked this morning at brunch with my dad and brother. They knew but I didnt care. I just wanted to eat everything in sight.

And Ashley our Price Chopper runs were quite subpar compared to other times Ive been there. Im a little disappointed the crazies werent out so you could really experience it.

More drinking would have been had if the weather would have cooperated a little bit more. Other than that, I had a great time :P

P.S. Chris!! This kid at my friends house had a T-Shirt that read "BOOBIES MAKE ME SMILE". I thought of you

had another great weekend. slush cup at sunshine with my best friends, stayed in banff at a sweet hotel. drank all night and rode park all day. everything else was schmoo. but the jumps were perfect. hit the biggest jump I have ever hit and loved it.

quick nap and some good cuddling after skiing, then hot tub and partying the night away. so very stoked on life right now.

ryno's new icon = sick.

my little bro is riding a 180 mile, 3 day road bike race in june, so he's training for that. I pulled my mom's old 10 speed road bike out of the attic, tuned the whole thing up and adjusted it for me, and went for a ride with him. I'm not a big fan of road biking, I'd just as soon DH, but I gotta do something to stay in shape when I can't hit the dirt. it's nice to have the bike accelerate when you pedal it too.

Oh, plus road bike chicks are hot, and I look smokin' in lycra.

PS, just kidding, I wore cargo shorts.

in exactly 5 weeks i will be on a place on my way to whis to start a lifelong adventure aka the life of a gypsy cuz i have no idea where im going to end up after that! YAY

Got our government check in the mail. $1800/2 = $900 for me. Next month's rent won't be late! Take that Peekamoose and your stupid vacation to Tuscany you didn't tell me about until two weeks before you left and left me with financial problems!

yikes...speaking of which i need to renew mine soon. which means a distraction from work, yay!

Went and voted yesterday for the Save The Schools campaign. Found out it won and the 4 surrounding elementary schools will remain standing. :)
