The Stoked Thread

I went out skiing today, the snow sucked but the skiing was good! We had a 4" layer of new snow on top of a layer of corn, and it was getting baked in the sun all day so things were interesting. There were a couple good turns to be had in the shade, but for the most part we just started little slides because it was fun to watch them struggle and fail to go anywhere. Anyways, here's a couple pictures.

What you don't see is that the snow is only 3" deep here, and it all slid off as he skied away.

Yeah, so instead of skiing this weekend I collected bugs. I have like 60 new ones. Quite a lot. Fucking idiot of a student assistant though caused problems. Just an overall jackass. Started flipping bikers off on the highway for absolutely no fucking reason whatsoever on the drive to the site. Threw gang signs at harley davidson riders and tried to match their group in his 92 Suburban. Then coming down a rocky 4 wheel road, decides that it would be fun "not to use the brakes" and instead uses the E-BRAKE for 30 seconds before I notice and inform him thats a bad idea.

But hoooooooly shit, finally a good field trip. Many late nights collecting stuff off light traps (awake for every hour of the night, weeeeeee), but the final night, too windy, so we had to take the traps down. Got some beers, hung out with the 8 or 9 people that didnt flinch when they smelled cig smoke (again, motherfucking TA stages coughing fits whenever he saw someone with one) and had a few beers.... followed by one of the best joints I've ever had right before we peaced out for bed. I usually smoke in my own house, dont do much of anything away from home, but wow, kinda cool to be high way out in the mountains in a windstorm packed into crazy bunk beds in old 70's style trailers.

And then on the ride back the TA started playing pieces the UW band plays at football games. Invited us to the next "off the hook rally". I covered my head and tried to sleep. Still, good time overall.

someone should MS Paint some splooge on Bab's face there, maybe a bit dripping out of her mouth... daddy would be proud. actually, he's probably too dumb to know what "splooge" is...

So far so good. I have one of the few computers that you can't see the screen when you walk by the cubical which is clutch for me since I like to waste copious amounts of time online :P

Another plus is that the hours are flexible so I can opt to come in later and leave later (which means less time with the managers around). Also clutch.

Downside is that I have a much bigger monitor which is fucking with my eyes...Im used to my laptops 14" widescreen and now i have a 20" fullscreen. I cant seem to find a location/angle i like to use. eyes = pain

word...and I have an overnight feild trip with the office on wed-thurday were we just drive around southern ontario on a bus going to lectures...should be pretty easy money!

My roommate has the 30 inch screen from apple, he's taken to bobbing his head around to look at different parts of the screen when he works.

Biking fucking owns.

That is all.

I may like biking more than skiing currently. I definitely prefer biking solo over skiing solo.

There's some crazy armed gunman that is holding cops at bay on the Thruway in Buffalo, and it's making for some fun television.

That's the boat I'm in right now. I'm getting ready to just go hang out in the desert and bike every day for the next 2-3 weeks. I might go to St. George, maybe Moab, maybe Fruita. Or maybe all of them, it all depends on what I feel like! I'm super stoked about this trip!

Now I know you are usually talking about downhilling, and a big rig, but I take it you also do all-mountain/trail riding?

I have two sexy beasts I try to split my time with, but I actually ride the all mountain rig quite a bit more.

Trail (a few things have been changed since this photo):

And yeah, I do need to show off. It's about all I can do when it's snowy and pissing rain up here.

Solid.

I don't have any photos of my ride.

Just a stock '05 Cannondale Jekyll though. No mods currently. I run it more towards the freeride geometry setting, and love it.

get a new thermostat, they're cheap, like 20 bucks, but it's a little bit of a process, you might want to have it done professionally

nice dude, that looks like a bunch of fun

thats my mutt below haha. wouldn't mind getting my hands on a full suspension frame though. its kinda like a cross between dj and trail at the moment. its the first bike I built so it was kinda using whatever parts I could get my hands on for cheap at the time

but I need a chain guide before that and I should probably upgrade the drivetrain too

advance stokedness on being finished my last essay for the semester, hopefully I wont be up too late tonight!

cant cause its a 'might'

more later. i just wanted to note it in a place i will check again often :)

I bought mine for $650. It was basically unused at the time. For a trailbike, I think it's an absolutely awesome bike. The '05 has a very soft stock fork, but aside from thatit's a blast. It climbs great, and can blast some solid downhills. Not too heavy, but not too light either.

I think it's a great bike beginner to experienced.

I've got Crank Bro Mallet clipless pedals. Love the platform support.

Did a great ride tonite. It was about 65 out, and sunny. Rode 2 hours and 15 minutes after work today and just really stepped up my game through a lot of sections.

I'm in Seoul, South Korea with no job, no money and no friends. But, I have free rent, and I get a free trip to Japan. Another stamp in my passport makes me excited. I also found a place where I can get a pizza for $6. Korean food is good and cheap, but lacks variety and quickly becomes tiresome.

He took a massive poop and he's getting it checked out by Guinness Book of Records. Congratulations on your world's biggest shit dude.

Was feeling unbelievably shitty today. Headache where any noise irritated me, hungry stomach with no appetite to eat which made me want to throw up, just wanting to die. But out of nowhere early this evening, it just disappeared! Which made me soooo fucking happy :)

YAY! A friend!

I left my job 'cause it wasn't working out. I found another one teaching adults though, I start June 1st. Finding work here is really easy. I applied on a Friday, and had an interview and was pretty much hired the following Monday. I didn't post in the not stoked thread, because I'm not really not stoked. I'm mostly just bored right now.

Totally did the gift registry for the wedding today!

Fucking exhausting, and registered for a bunch of shit to make the apartment in Rutland downright awesome.

I get way too into home decorating, heh.
