The Stoked Thread

My fiancee got the job.

She will be a Special Education Teacher at Northwest Primary School in Rutland, VT starting this August.

I realy don't think I could be happier.

So this morning I awoke in my roommates bed. He came in at 6am from his girlfriends house, saw me in his bed and got ready for work. Didnt wake me up. I woke up around 6:30 after he left, completely disoriented. I had been up with my other roommate watching "Snatch" with a few friends and knocked back a few beers. I went to sleep IN MY OWN BED. I woke up in ANOTHER BED. There was water EVERYWHERE, all over his bed and all over myself. I have NO MEMORY of what the fuck happened.

- I wasnt drunk. I had three beers total, and I was buzzed, but not shitfaced drunk or anything. My movie-watcher friends confirmed this. I also had no hangover, and waking up at 6:30, after three hours of sleep, I definitely didnt feel drunk.

- My roommate heard my door open about a half hour after I went to sleep. He thought it was me making a bathroom trip or something.

- I woke up with water all over my shirt. Not pee, we did multiple sniff tests to confirm. There was a glass in my room, but it stayed in my room.

Heres what we've pieced together at this point. Evidently, I must be sleepwalking. I've been feeling like shit and been really tired for the last week, but I was blaming it on finals. Apparently, I must have gotten up a half hour after falling asleep (which would be before REM sleep typically) and walked around. I may have tried to drink some water in the bathroom or something, given up, and gone to the nearest bed, which was his. Really fuckin strange. REALLY fuckin strange. It completely weird to wake up in another place, where you shouldnt be, and have no memory of what the hell went on.

Sooooo, yeah. I guess I'm going to barricade myself in my room tonight. I have no idea how you stop sleepwalking. Sometimes its from stress, but evidently not my type, as finals are over. Weeeeeirrrd.

^ I used to sleepwalk a lot when I was younger...practically every night and I'll second that it's such a fucked up feeling, waking up in a strange place. Sometimes I'd wake up on a couch, floor, bathtub, etc. I grew out of it, but as for you...? Get one of your friends to film it...it'd be epic.

Also, how are you finished finals in March? that's awesome!

Now for my stokeness;

Just got offered a summer job from a pilot who owns a company on the side. It's pretty shitty backbreaking work (Pave-Uni), working 8-10 hour days, 5 days a week...yada yada...I was listening to this, kind of like, ya ya, whatever, I already have a part time job....until the hook came in;

$1000 cash per week, guaranteed.

I'm sold.

On the quarter system, spring break is soooooooooon.

Sleepwalking is actually kinda scary. Its a really weird feeling to be responsible for doing something that you have no memory of. Like blacking out, only you do weird shit through no fault of your own. One of my friends is doing the wraparound (3 sleep periods over 4 nights), so if I make it out of my barricaded room tonight, he'll keep me from getting in too much trouble.

Fuck yeah man! I know how much this means to you guys from the way you have been talking about it. Great to hear that it worked out for you both.

My dad had a coworker whose daughter sleepwalked into traffic and died. She had been sleepwalking for years before it happened. Apparently she would sometimes walk out of the house and wake up and not knowing how she got there. Such a sad story.

Rowen, whatever your friends do, don't let them wake you up! That's the single worst thing you can do to someone who is sleepwalking.

Stoked on this implimentation of the karma system....tried upping the karma of a few of you monkey's and its super easy.

How is that bad?

I used to sleep walk all the time as a kid. We lived in a 3 family house in the city where it was me and my mom in one apartment, my grandma and aunt in the second, then another family in the third. I used to wake up in my grandma's apartment all the time. The main doors in/out of the house were deadbolt locks so they used to take the keys out at night so I didn't leave the house just wandered around the apartments. I did it a few times when my cousin was babysitting me and he freaked out at first. Never had anything bad happen from being woken up though. I did fall asleep at the top of the stairs one night though and rolled over and down the stairs. That sucked. I also grew out of it. Thank god.

I just got an email from westjet saying I have 2 $235 flight credits with them for screwing up my flight home. I had made a call while waiting for our replacement flights, and within 5min was told the credit was coming. Have to give them some props even though stuff got screwed up coming home they admitted it and were quick to pay up without further hassle.

Westjet is fucking awesome. Just thought I'd say that.

Stoked cause I'm one day away from a long weekend. I don't get monday off, but still 3 days are better than 2. And I'm going dogsledding friday morning, then skiing in the afternoon and again on saturday. Sunday golf (first round of the year) is lined up plus turkey dinner. Woo!

I don't know. I've heard that you would freak out, not know where you are. Almost have a panic attack or something. But you've experienced it, so you would understand it better.

When I was little I was notorious for sleep walking, sleep peeing and sleep eating. One night I awoke somewhere but was totally disoriented and lost so I just curled up in a ball and went back to sleep until the morning. Then when I awoke, I realized Iwas in my room but about 3 feet shy of my bed. That sucked. Another time I ate my bday cake in my sleep. My parents found me at the dining room table with frosting all over me. Whats sketchy is that I had no idea I what was going on or why I was doing it. But I had also heard somewhere that it was really bad to wake someone that was sleep walking. Cant recall why though

Don't know if I told this story before but whatever. The last time we were visiting a friend in maine somehow we got on the topic of passing out and passing friends out with chokeouts and such "california dream I've heard them called. Well this guy and his friends used to pass each other out in a crowded room and turn off all the lights then turn on the video cam. He said people would wake up from being passed out and shit cause the lights were off and they had no idea where they were, this guys said people used to yell for mommy and just start screaming and shit. It sounded so horrible and funny at the same time to fuck with each other's heads like that.

Despite the fact that there was a light rain all day, I had the most excellent day at work. I showed up on time, as usual. Didn't even put my boots on. Found Georgia and we went and smoked. Came back, had some breakfast, and read a bit. Had lunch, and passed the fuck out. Right there at the tables, in front of the desk so they could wake us up in case of lessons. Woke up at 2:30, chilled around for a half hour. Signed out, went a smoked again, then went to the bar and had a beer. All while getting paid. SWEET!

got paid finally! and going up to arrowtown for easter which should be sweet. also went out and had an amazing breakfast this morning, bestest fryup of bacon eggs n coffee i've had in a long time. just daydreamed about skiing through an entire lecture on the emergence of nationalism in europe.. good times.

the karma things pretty cool too even though mines pretty low haha

I just entered a few of my pictures in a photo contest a local magazine is having. I've never entered one before, so this should be interesting!

A Surface shred brought me a new pair of Live Life 2's. So stoked. They were supposed to be zero camber and soft, but came out of the mold burly stiff and with camber. I'm center mounting them and using them as my pure park ski. T.J. Schneider's graphics look ridiculously sick. Stoked.

I won an ipod at the graduation fair.

And I picked up my cap and gown. Kinda cool. Kinda scary. Kinda sad.

for some reason when i clicked that link it just sent me to my profile...found you as an artist...givin a listen now

wasn't expecting much in the way of quality in jay this weekend, but this is a pleasant surprise

"A foot seems highly likely and the potential for 16"+ certainly exists"

Updated

"27F and Heavy snow here at 1:15pm. 4-6" on the ground since just after midnight and no real honking winds yet. Forecasters are calling for the possibility of more than 20" of snow by tomorrow evening."

I think it happened again last night, but I didnt leave my room cause the door was blocked.

And thanks everyone for sharing their sleepwalking-death stories!

You guys are stoked on this? My karma's WAY too low. I secretly own NS and it's giving me no love.

my karma is poopy...like poo that comes out of ur bum when u sit on the toilet...or squat on the bushes..

dont u guys miss my poo comments? im sure u doooo

yea, there are a lot of unaccurate ratings. I think it's most obvious in some of the "legends." people that used to post a lot back in the day, and are real good people, but now that they don't whore themselves in the gabbers, or come on a lot, they have lower karma. for example Jay (rebel) is rated a 49, and we all know he's a 100 :)

Wooohoo, $30 off SAC. I really need these too, I'm on one pair of gloves that I absolutely love, but I need to send them in for a warranty since the seams are ripping. These will be sick for spring and all.

Stoked on a looooooooong road trip over this weekend for Jay Peak tree pow and Sugarloaf tree-free pow.

Anybody know a lot about sugarloaf??? What are the snowfields like up top?? You can do the back side of em too right???
