The Stoked Thread

Stoked that my professor actually likes my idea for the project we're doing right now. We also had the structures professor in today to check out our models and he described mine as "interesting" and "potentially marketable." I'll take what I can get!

I'm pretty sure it's one of the squiggly lines on the opposite side of the ridge that wild side is on.

so I hit some drunk fat girl riding a bike in the head with a snowball from out a car window and knocked her into the snowbank. I was pretty stoked on that

AHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!

Dudes and dudettes: Skiing tomorrow after work. Hiking to a BC area I've never before heard about being skied. Soooooo stoked!

^^ Hilarity at its finest Ben...hahahaha oooh the picture in my head. What a great visual at 7:07 in the morning.

^ And kill it Rowen!

Stoked on Lesley chillin' last night - good times were had. Her and I are two peas in a pod :)

This morning I was pulled to judge another rail jam. I am now an official judge for the mountain. Which is really cool, because I have such a good time doing it. There were 15 boarders and 16 skiers today. Really happy that a bunch of skiers came out to do it. Normally the boarders always out number the skiers, but not today. And they were throwing down! Especially on our crap park. It was sick.

Not stoked on the prizes though (not going to the other thread). 1st place skier got a pair of high end race skis......

YUP. Race skis. He's smart, and selling them on ebay, but still...

And 1st place boarder got some piece of crap bar board. A bar board is a board that's not supposed to be used for riding. They hang it on the walls in bars...can you believe that? He told me he's going to use it for a "box/jib" - haha.

Good day though!

Well, went to the mountain today and it was windy, snowing, lifts closed, couldn't see, all shitty.

we decide to go in the lodge for a while, have a beer, and we debated leaving because it sucked so bad. While about 75% of the people left, we decided to chill in the lodge for a while longer.

By 1:00 the wind died completely, and it had snowed a foot. Epic pow sesh from 1-4, with nobody there.

Then we ripped a vape on the drive back. gotta love car converters

Prizes sound better than at my local hills, where if you're lucky, the winner will get a helmet, or a pair of shitty bland goggles.

So, I'm stoked because I earned my first untracked snow turns on Friday. Hiked an old abandonded ski resort that closed in the early 90s. 750' of vert, but it's WAY steeper than anything else around here that is open.

Snow was meh, at best. Windblown and dense. Really hard to work with, but it was still a blast strapping the skis to the pack and hiking.

stoked i just got my shit i ordered from johnny cupcakes in Boston

Lots of Pow this morning at Whistler. Then I got a tour of Whistler Olypmic Park's ski jumping facilities while the FIS Cup was going on the k125 jump. It was pretty sweet. Can't wait for tomorrow, it's been a long time since fresh snow.

Very happy that I made it out to Hemlock today to see all the people I don't get to see enough of anymore, including Schmuck who made a surprise appearance to the delight of all present. Also happy my car survived the trip, that place has absolutely, bar none and nothing else is even close, the worst mountain road on the face of this earth. I couldn't believe it. However, the comp went off, weather was spotty but not unmanageable (ie PNW Young Gun Open), and Cam Schuster deservedly took home the big prize.

PS: Prizes, since we're talking about that:

Girls 1st got next year's salomons+bindings, whatever the new park ski is. Same with Am16+ first and Under16 1st. Also gave out a full suit of oakley and a bunch of crowbars. Prizes for the Pro (you don't actually have to be pro it's just the top category, though Cam rides for Armada and Colston rides for LINE), 3rd was a custom boot job from surefoot (costs 800-1000 bucks), 2nd was a catskiing trip for 4 (went to Colston Beatson, largely because of one of the sickest rail tricks I've ever seen, I can't even describe it), and for 1st, Cam got 1500 bucks in cold, hard cash.

See we know how to do prizes for our rail jams here.

...Yeah unfortunately it turned into a rail jam after the JOI-style jump's knuckle started eating skiers. It was deadly and someone was gonna get killed, so we had to pull the plug. Still a good time for most, no one got seriously wrecked, and lots of kids were very stoked.

Still, if Brian hosts it at Hemlock next year I'm not driving up that road, I'll get a lift.

I got to the lineup for Spanky's a good time this morning. Had to wait for a bit, but I was in the first 20 people that skied it after they dropped the rope. it was really awesome.

Yes, they're on my friends camera. Nothing special, just 5 inches of windblown fresh, but we've had absolutely shit for the past 3 weeks for snow, so it was a blessing. Did so much hiking, mmmm legs burn but its a good burn.

ok, here's a quick splaination of what's up... i'm on probation for possession of weedz, up until this point in time i was under the impression my probation was going smoothly, although i'm on probation i still smoke mad weed and i have yet to piss and it's been nearly a year.

so, tonight i was hanging out with some buddies in a town about half an hour from my place. it was 1:30, so i took one of my buddies home and pulled out of his driveway to head home. now, i have a burned out tail light, i know about it, but i haven't had a day off of work since i found out about it, so it will get handled on Monday. the officer driving the opposite direction didn't know any of that, though, beyond that the light was burned out, and pulled around right in front of my friend's house. i was far enough away by that point in time to turn down a side street and lose them. so i started to take a different route back home and my friend called me. he'd seen the cops stop and turn around and figured they were after me. i told him they clearly were and i was still trying to duck 'em, then i saw the car in my rear view mirror about 100 yards back. i got off the phone with my buddy, pulled into a closed gas station (i was driving on a fairly busy road, knew i was getting pulled over, and figured that was safer. the officer agreed and didn't find it sketchy), and they hit the lights. i had about a gram of bud and had been smoking blunts for a few hours, but i didn't have any pieces, so hiding the bud was pretty easy. for anyone with an 01 Jeep Cherokee, you can pop the vents right next to the front doors out of place pretty easy and hide a bunch of stuff back there. so, he comes up, gets my paperwork and the waiting game began. now, i've been pulled over when i was on probation before and i've always been worried something might come up or there might be some kind of problem, but it's never happened, so i figured i was probably ok. the officer came back, gave me my ID and paperwork, and we had a brief discussion about the tail light. then he said, "mind if i ask you a few questions?" i said that was ok and he asked if i've ever had problems with drugs. i replied, "yes, i'm on probation for possession of marijuana."

"did you know there's a warrant out for your arrest?"

it turns out i missed a court date, likely because the papers were mailed to the wrong address (i've moved three times over the past three years and NMU can't seem to keep a current address), and there's a warrant out for my arrest for contempt of court and violating my probation. well, luckily for me, the pick-up zone is restricted to the UP and not all of Michigan. since i live in the LP, i can't be arrested on that warrant here. i didn't even get a fix-it ticket, just instructions on who to call on Monday to figure this bullshit out.

I'M STOKED ON NOT GOING TO JAIL TONIGHT!

Officially getting my nipples pierced tomorrow. Very stoked on my new place; it's a very good size for me and in an ideal location. I'm just really sick of moving.

Also stoked on good friends. I MISS BEEEEEER. That is all.

Congrats on the nipples Sarah!

As for my stoke, I just had a sweet day skiing. I got up there and took a few untracked powder runs, then met up with a few friends. I was able to ski a few hairy lines off the lifts before lunch and was super happy with how much better my skiing has gotten in a week. After lunch I let one of my friends pop the cherry on a cliff I cleared out a couple years ago that nobody's hit yet. I was going to hit it earlier this year, but screwed my knee when we were about two feet short of what I wanted in the landing. Of course it snowed non-stop immediately afterward. Anyways. After that we hiked the ridge and skied a little chute by the north boundary, then took a traverse further out. I got first tracks down a fun little straightline and almost got destroyed by my slough, then had bottomless knee deep snow for the rest of my run. The unstoked thread recounts the remainder of my day.

.

So today I had a great day skiing, just ripping around. I have been needing some snow time... I have had the last three days full of homeowrk... no school or work, just 3 days of homework.

This system was supposed to bring like... 8 inches at best, but we got a good foot or foot and a half in places. Stuck a nice little 20 footer like it aint no thang, Ripped some switch. There's a chute that i have been eyeing for a while, that i decided was a bad idea to ski today (which was wrong, I should have strightlined the bitch) but it's ok, because I know what it looks like from the top now.

Good day. time to watch some rock of love, and stay up all night doing more homework!

they're fun! i love mine, so my guess is you won't dislike them. from my experience, they get plenty of attention, so enjoi!

i'm stoked on piercings.

Hahaha yeah, I'm stoked! Nobody sees my tits, though, so nice try, Sean!!! I've been delaying getting them done for three years now (couldn't find a piercer I wanted to have do them), so yeah. I'm self-conscious as fuck about them, for some reason.

Oh wait, scratch that... Twinner, of course you may watch!

AND I'm so fucking stoked right now! I'm getting a pit pull puppy hopefully in a week or so (as soon as he gets neutered)... I'm adopting a little blue one, and he is the sweetest thing ever. He's about nine months and weighs nine pounds, haha. The only downside: his name (right now) is Jimmy, but I'll be changing that, for sure. Anyway, I fell in love with him at the animal shelter today, and I can't wait!!!!! Okay, so I fell in love with nine or ten dogs at the shelter today, but whatever.

Oh yeah!! You got a super up-close shot... motor-boated the crap out of them! That was good times. And then afterwards, I walked around the parking lot completely topless for three hours. Remember that, too?!

God-dammit I miss having easily accessible boobs. This kinda deserves the other thread I guess.

Heres what I'm stoked on recently - Lost, Flight of the Concords and Entourage.

So my buddy got kicked off the hill for two weeks for some stupid shit he did a couple weeks ago.... but whatever haha.

So we hop in his truck, and drive around Western Mass looking for gnar lines on the side of the road. And in doing that, we stumble past the frickin OTHER ski resort, BRODIE!!!!! hahaha, which is a closed resort about 2 miles from Jiminy that used to be owned by the same company. Anyway, bunch of closed lifts, absolute ghosttown, and 2+ of fresh. So we booted up it.....

And realized we're both out of shape, haha. But it was great. Little crusty, but a perfect welcome home for this mini-vacation I'm on.

In other more geeky news stoked that during our travels I also managed to pick up a Wii controller to hook up to my computer, to run my synth with. Going to be so damn sick for this mini band deali-o I seem to have going on with my buddy in Rochester. Think DJing by waving your hand like a conductor. It's going to be illnasty.

Total claim! Oh golly.

Was yours at a 14g when I last saw you?

Stoked that I have awesome friends and that Long Islands were $3 at the karaoke bar tonight. I did the best rendition of "We're Not Gunna Take It" ever!!! Yes, there was head banging and helicopter hair on my part. I almost fell off of the stage, haha. Mucho liquor + 80s rock band karaoke + oversized steps = death of Sarah (and fun!). Photo to come... maybe.

Everybody, meet Ninja! He's a nine week, nine pound, blue American pit bull terrier. Cutest and sweetest thing ever, and he will be living with me very soon. I LOVE HIM. Oh yeah, and he's 748397893 times more adorable in person. The end!

old people + lots of booze = terrible karaoke

at least thats what i discovered this weekend.

stoked on a super fun weekend hanging w/ashley and rob. didnt sleep too much but did enough drinking to make up for it hahaha

You have to see him in person! He's the best, and I love him so much already, even though I don't actually get to take him home for probably a week. Oh man, cutest and sweetest puppy ever. He wouldn't stop licking my face, and he did the BEST little cocked head thing when I first saw him. Love at first sight!

In other news, nipple piercings HURTTTTTT! After he did the first one, I was surprised because it didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as my navel project, so I let my guard down. The second one was OWWWW! These are the only piercings I've had (of thirty or something) that hurt after the first five minutes, so I went to the Dub and had some drinks with Holly Pocket.

BUT, I love them so much, and they look awesome! I got them vertically done, and I'm very happy. Yay!

Oh, and I got a new TV today... it's pretty much sweet nectar. I'm so much happier now because of the puppy, and even other people are noticing, haha. Now if only my headache would go away...

Haha, abandoned ski areas are so fun to play around at. We went inside the lodge and offices of the place near me that closed in the early 90s, and there were overdue collection notices, and all sorts of random paperwork just laying around.

The skiing was decent too.

Man, the weather has been so screwed up. Sunday it was sunny and 35. Yesterday it was sunny and 66, yes sixty-six. Today its 28 and snow/freezing rain/sleet.

HIGHMOUNT!!

Some of the kids broke into the lodge over there, and said it looked like everyone just up and left. Still skis and lunch trays all over. Rental shop looked like people seriously dropped what they were doing and left.

They also found a shitload of bright pink Highmount lift tickets, unused. Lesley, want some? Hahahaha.

Must be a Mont/Mount thing, haha. My place was called Bluemont. We even found resumes dated 1991 on the counter in the office.

At the top of the hill, all the chairs from the chairlift were just sitting at the top of the hill lined up in a field.

So damn random. You'd think that someone going under would try to sell assetts like a chairlift to save face.

I'm pretty positive this was place was abandoned a looooong time ago. I mean, the skis didn't even have real alpine bindings they said. You know those old school contraptions...? So what year would that be?

i miss highmount :(

i guess my tele buddies skied it saturday and said it was awesome. im jealous.

and yes i want some damn it! i want some NS stickers too
