The Stoked Thread

Just called em actually, it's a remount and they said no problem. Do I have to give them a preference on where to put them?? Do they have to move them far from where they are now because of the existing holes?? How does a remount go??

Remounts are ticky. Was it a pull-out or were the bindings removed properly?

My friend had his bindings rip out and we successfully reattached it to the ski using heavy duty epoxy and toothpicks in the hole. He skied this ski in the park for about 5 weeks after this with no issues arising.

Obviously a shop will not go that route, but you may want to consider alternate options.

Ya not ripped out, the bindings are still in, I just bought em used and now got a new boot that doesn't fit the bindings. The adjustment in the binding is maxed out and the boots are still too small. Soooo re-mounting to fit new boots.

The shop should be able to plug the old holes, and remount perfectly fine just a small difference away.

So yeah.

Winter storm watch posted for tomorrow. 6-10 during the day.

Lake effect snow Friday.

Major east coast storm with possible heavy accumulations for Sunday,

MAJOR!!

Im hoping that rolls through, I get all my work done this weekend, try to get my billable hours in...if possible, and get out to the mountain on Monday! Or maybe I should head out on Tuesday after everything has settled? Any suggestions

Get out there Monday. It'll be epic. It's going to be COLD, which should translate to some nice blower.

No predicted accumulations so far, but if it takes the more westerly track, Western New York could see a foot from it.

I'm just so stoked on tomorrow. As of this morning, we were only supposed to see 1-3 inches from it, then they revised the storm path, and it's tracking more to the north, which puts me in the major accumulation area.

6-10 inches tomorrow with snowfall rates 1-2 inches per hour.

ok let me see if i can pull that off. if so, then ill totally be there. i just received an email about our free ski passes through ems.

read this bullshit:

EMS Winter Ski Pass Policy and Procedures

All employees wishing to take advantage of this awesome opportunity to ski for free or at discounted rates must abide by the following rules.

The Following Mountains; Gore, Hunter, Mt. Snow and Whiteface only allow two employees per day to ski at their mountains. A monthly calendar will be posted in the back room next to the weekly schedules.

To Reserve a Ski Pass

Each person will be required to sign up for the day that they are planning to ski.

Staff will be able to sigh up one week in advance starting on Sunday of that work week.

First priority will be given to those who have the entire day off and second priority will be given to those who work a half day.

Indicate which mountain you wish to ski at, H-Hunter, S-Snow, G-Gore,
W-Whiteface

Pablo, Chris, or Nick has to sign off to make it official.

Note: Hunter Mountain has a card that you will need to pick up in the office before heading to Hunter. Card should be returned daily so they will be available for the next days use.
The previously mentioned items must all be completed before you travel up to the mountain to ski. Don’t forget pay stubs and ID’s.

In the event that you sign up for a ski pass and do not use it, you will lose your privilege to use ski passes for the following week. Please be considerate of others wishing to use this program. Try not to monopolize certain days of the week and allow others to sign up as well.

All other resorts; Belleayre, Jiminy, Maple Ridge and Windham have not limit on how many employees can ski per day. However please note that Jiminy only allows ten free passes per season. Remember this is not to make life difficult but to avoid any mix up at the resorts that could result in loss of ski pass privileges.

Thank you for your cooperation. Happy Skiing!

That sounds complicated and a pain in the ass.

Though for me to ski at jay I have to have an original letter from our manager back home every time (they are catching on to my photocopies) and hav to go to customer service every day to get the pass. Thinking I might just make up either a letter valid for the whole season or make a fake pass

No shit. It basically stems from the fact that my friend and I got crazy ass pow last week at mt snow and two guys couldnt get up there because (1) i called dibs and legs were going to be broken if anyone tried stopping me and (2) the two other guys ended up working until 9 in the morning. pssh not my fuckin problem dude.

we;ve been told countless times not to abuse the system. now how is that possible with these gay ass restrictions?

Need I say more?

It'd be fine if that storm tracked about 100 miles further to the west. :)

the park at snow is killllller right now, though if they get that big of a dump on sunday, then there will be powder to be had in the trees and on the north face, hopefully sun valley opens up soon, never gets icy cause it faces the south, but the vermonster is killing it right now, props to their park crew for getting so much done so early in the season, and the pipe is almost finished as well

i know right?!?!

i wanted to get into the park this weekend but there were way too many people in there and i kinda get a bit intimidated around large groups of park rats bc im not as good as they are.

we got into the trees on the north face on sunday and it wasnt too bad but with another dumping HOLY FUCK! its gonna be siiiiiick.

and i agree with you. props to snow and their crew. theyve definitely stepped it up

ajay and lesley - give thanks to Peak Resorts for Mt Snow. Look for things to explode at Mt Snow.. I know a little somethin bout somethin up there. If you get a chance, send Tim Boyd a letter. Them guys are doing it and deserve the thankyou note!

I am stoked for you guys getting "our guys" behind the scenes.

jea we talked about that a couple of weeks ago. seriously though ive been skiing up at snow for about 5 years now and the difference from last year to this year is AMAZING. starting right out with the snow making like no other. im stoked on mt snow and will be sending them a letter thanking them for their efforts.

on another note, killington is now charging $80/day. fuck that

Whoa, that's more expensive than Whistler. Yikes dude!

Buttt I'm done with finals, and I kicked ASS on them, so I'm stoked.

Countdowns:

Alaska: 5 days

New Mexico: 3 months, 9 days

WOO!

hmmm 80 bucks and a longer drive or seasons pass and an hour to mount snow, hmmmm, although i get killy tix for 20 bones, but the park "rangers" (park crew) at mount snow are chill there a girl that rides twins but i believe that's the only skier on their park crew, although i hate it hard on that first butter box in the park tuesday, tip got caught and i went splat, the north face needs some loving though the runs are ALL moguls, most of which are the size of a car soft skis + moguls = bad news, but still much love for the park crew the propane tank jib was mucho fun and the jumps (25ft and 30ft) are set up perfectly, although the hip needs a little lovin

Damn son, wish I had a boyfriend who would cook, and homemade, too! Sounds like some CDR shit to me, haha. :)

I'm getting wastedddddd tonight!

Thats ridiculous. Our work season passes are just like any other pass except they have our company name on there. Thats seems way over complicated.

Yeah the one today seems pretty cool.

It just started snowing here. Big flakes, coming down decently. Calling for 1-3 inches per hour for a few hours, and total accumulations of 6-10 inches here.

^ Sweet! It's on its way. They've already closed a bunch of surrounding schools. Which means there's going to be lots of kiddies at the mountain...

I just wonder how the trails are going to be. I say that because yesterday they were cement. Icy cement. I hope they were smart enough to groom this morning.

Haha, they left the school open here. It'll be interesting this afternoon when they go to leave and it's straight dumping. Poor foresight if you ask me.

My hill was a rockslab last night. We had gotten 5 inches of super wet snow and it was sunny and mid 30s yesterday. i was there for night skiing and once that sun went down, my dull edges were USELESS.

Stoked about our firm's holiday party tomorrow night. Great food, open bar, dj, suits galore...mmmmm lets hope i dont get myself in trouble this year. Muhahaha

NEVER!!!

haha actually we'll see. im bringing a date with me too. hopefully his youngness wont reflect poorly on me. hahaha now thats hilarious

Smalbany is expecting 4-7 inches today!! Hellz yeah. Time to drag out the boxes, get a twelver, some blizunts and make it a night!

I cant wait for snow!!!

If i rememoved the word snow from your last few posts...it could be the storyboard for a porno...lol

im in the gutter i know

im stoked though because i just wreaked my oral exam....really good talk with the prof so i think i'll do well

hahaha you're right it would.

the pancake hamburger porno of 2007.

has a nice ring to it.

what was your exam on?

It was an oral exam/reflection for my Indigenous Studies class themed around community development. Very fucking cool prof.

The forecast for Whistler this weekend is snow. The forecast for the next week is snow. The long range forecast for Whistler is snow. 2 days this weekend will bring my total to 8, plus next weekend a couple days will have me hit 10 days before Christmas for probably the first time in 15 years. This is going to be a great season.

Oh, and I'm really stoked about my office Christmas party tonight. Nothing too crazy, but it is dinner and drinks at one of the best steak houses in the city. Booyah.

Wonderful snow today. It's awesome.

Went to Tim Hortons on my lunch and had some soup and watched the snow fall. It's so peaceful out when it's snowing hard as all the normally abnoxiously loud sounds are muffled by the falling snow.

So peaceful and serene.

I'm hoping to go skiing tonite after work for a bit. I've been out 5 times already and the local hills just opened last Wednesday, so out of 8 total possible days of skiing, I have skied 5 of those days.
