The only time I will ever shoot 4x5 is if I need to print something huge. As much as the quality of 35mm sucks, I am a big fan of it just because it is so much easier to actually capture a moment--and it's a few cents a shot as opposed to $1-2. I shoot a lot of people (yep), so the big camera will most likely only come out for landscapes or architecture stuff. Right now I have it all stripped down, I just need to seal up a few things and re-pimp it so it is ready to shoot.
hell yeah. our photoclub also has the means to develop 4x5 film, so I won't have to pay for a lab to develop it, which is like half the cost of shooting 4x5.
How much do most places charge for that? There's a shop here in Bozeman that will process medium format for completely outrageous prices--I'm not sure on what they are because I just use the photo lab at school. I think for me the biggest expense will be paper because I will want to do everything on 11x14 or 16x20 (at least!). Someone in my class just did a bunch of landscapes on 4x5 and printed them 8x10, which resulted in disgustingly sharp images.
I don't know. I had a roll of 120 velvia processed locally here, no prints, just processing, 6 bucks. I thought that was kinda expensive for 12 frames. But I usually just shoot B&W medium format so I can just do it myself for free.
But yeah, I'm gonna have to buy some bigger paper to print 4x5 on. We also have a really nice negative scanner, so I can play with the photos on the computer and decide which ones I want to print.
Stoked for the annual May Day jam at Big Boulder this weekend. Not sure why I am, I just hang around and film and stuff, I don't hit anything. Lift served this year! Gonna be fun. Come on down if you are in the area. There is a bar..
Awesome night. Ashley drove up to do hood rat stuff with me, which I totally needed. Thank you! We drank magic hats, made asian spring rolls, smoked, drank more, laughed hardy har har, drank more, smoked and then decided to head downtown to the infamous german Biergarten. What a sausage fest this was!!! So amazing. Before we even walked through the door I ran into a friend that I hadnt seen in years...he was fucked the hell up and absolutely hliarious. Such a good guy....and then there was blackhawk. See, when people come to Albany I take them to the ghetto chopper but since Ash has already experienced that place many times, I needed something new to treat her to...and that came in the form of mr. blackhawk (ian you've met this fucker). To sum it up, it was basically a repeat x10 of the Club "Ladouche" incident in montreal. Ashley I must give you so much credit for railing on him as well as you did
After that we went on a tagging rampage of suburbia...Im sure pics will be posted at somepoint.....
I, too, left the bar late last night and went on a tagging spree all around uconn. Should be a funny week, I don't quite remember where I put all of them
Battle Toads, Super Mario 3, Contra, Bad News Baseball, Super Dodgeball, Castlevania, Manic Mansion, Master Blaster, A Boy and His Blob, Skate or Die 2, Double Dragon...
ahhhhh yeeeessss
just got smith i/o's they're fucking sick! soo easy to change lenses (comes with two) and fits under my helmet perfectly. not to mention they look dope with the lens on the outside of the frame
Went to go and hike the mountain east of Alpental, and got about a quarter of a mile before I turned around. Foot plus deep post holing is evil, and I left my skins at school. So I went to Summit central and jibbed a box for two hours.
Came back, napped. Dinner with Katie. Went rock climbing. Then I rode my unicycle around the track a few times for the Relay for Life event.
