The Stoked Thread

yeah keep me posted. my friend and i were saying last night how last year at this time we were hiking belleayre with our skis. that was a great day too. people were coming to pick up their season passes or something and there we are at my car cooking burgers, smoking js and throwing back beers.

fuck i need to ski!

uhh i carry it with me at all times. dont worry though, they stick me in the room with all of the pads. its fun

Looks like snowmaking will start in the east at someplaces this starting sunday night.

LOW overnight temps, and daytime highs only around 40 degrees.

You people near Vermont/Maine/New Hampshire will be skiing very soon.

Some of the overnite lows at elevation for Sunday and monday night are hitting the teens.

Enjoy it! I've still got another month before skiing starts here. Black Friday is Holiday Valley's target day.

I'm going to a big ski swap that is at the county fairgrounds this weekend, in hopes I can find a good all-mountain twin for really cheap. I doubt I'll find anything, but one can dream.

On the temp topic, I was driving home from working at the bar early this morning, around 2:30, and my car said it was 36. Made me happy. I'm 14 miles south of Boston so up north it's gotta be cold.

i was just grindin with some patriots cheerleaders, don't worry pics will coome in the AM when i'm not too drunk to work my camera

I haven't talked to him or seen him in a good while. I'm pretty sure my friend Adam (Antadam) talks to Andy every once in a while

Dinner went amazingly well, got along great. Every bit of time spent with that girl makes me like her more... I hope she's getting as much out of it. Food was expensive (as was wine) but worth it, really excellent... for the information of others, I started with mixed greens with pecans and pear in a vinaigrette that had a hint of basil to it. She said it was the best salad she'd ever had, I was not quite so enthusiastic but it was still very good. My pasta, a farfalle in wine cream sauce with smoked salmon and scallops, was incredible. Probably the best seafood pasta I've ever had. I usually don't eat seafood, but it was amazing. We finished with pumpkin cheesecake with a sort of chocolate shell kind of thing. It was great, but I was pretty full by then. Service was superb and very italian. The wine list there is impressive (go to the website at villadellupo.com and check it out). Anyway we certainly don't agree on everything but they're all little things, and we have quite a bit in common ... including an enjoyment of fine dining, so I have a free-date-pass whenever I want, I just have to introduce her to a good restaurant. No real awkwardness or anything all evening. I actually planned to give her a kiss goodnight (and I think it would've been well received) but when we pulled up to her building a security guard was there eyeing my car suspiciously, so I figured no go. Still, that couldn't put a damper on the evening. I plan to see her again monday! Stoked!

Yay JD! That's totally awesome, I'm happy for you. Dinner sounds verrrrrrrrrrry yummy! Especially the dessert. I think I drooled a bit. :)

And I'm stoked on Belleayre getting a freestyle team! I know I made a thread, but still!

TURN MY HEADPHONES UP CAUSE I THINK WE'RE THE CHAMPIONS AGAIN WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTT WHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT

It was DAMN cold this morning, and there was ice on my car, and frozen puddles.

Woooo!

Plus snowmaking in the northeast!

^ There was frost alllll over my lawn this morning. It's still there! And the temps are just dropping. It seems like winter won't take forever this year. Weeeeeeeeee!

Jinx Shminx. Winter already has a plan. Nothing I say or do will change it :P

And for some reason, no I don't remember snow in Oct. I remember Halloween being fairly warm.

Mmm yes. Snow at Jay Peak. Not here in southern NY - I don't think. I'm not denying it, I just simply don't remember.

We got 2 feet in buffalo on october 12th. that was quite a mess if I've ever seen one.

I live to the south, and only got a few inches and even then the trees were bowing down really far. 500k people without power, many were powerless for a full week. Then it flooded as all the snow melted in the next few days.

We had a cold streak, but then it warmed up until 3rd week in January where it got REALLY cold, and dumped a LOT.

Well, you don't remember the October 12th because it was a lake effect storm that caused snow only in Buffalo, heh. I only live 15 miles south of Buffalo, and only got 2 inches, while Buffalo got 24 inches.

Yeah, but you would still think I would remember something like that. Ok, enough post whoring the Stoked Thread. Haha.

Ugh, it's not post-whoring if it's snow stoke!!

Talking about snow gets me way too stoked.

Stoked because I ordered Wanderland off of www.skifotm.com yesterday.

Can't wait for it to come!!!

Stoked to order wanderland tomorrow cause I left my wallet at home today.

Also was happy this weekend to get my new N'EAST magazine only to find a pic in there from BB ski resort's park. Anytime PA ski resorts get press it's pretty amazing.

-I have 22 remaining days at this job before I finish.

-Two weeks surfing and chilling Costa Rica over Christmas.

-This ski season will be spent in Banff, skiing every day!

-I bought new boots (SPK Kaos), skis (08 ARVs), outerwear (grenade & billabong) and other random ski goods (armada!) to use over this season. They're going to get good use.

-My APC Hipster dry denim jeans are fading awesome and looking really good, I am going to wash them for the first time in about a month. Around that time, I'll buy a pair of Nudie Slim Jims!

-I bought some new shoes that I really like

-Someone gave me a $100 liquor store gift certificate which I spent on a $65 bottle of wine (a really nice brunello) and a $30 bottle of Amarone. I drank the Brunello when I quit my job and will drink the Amarone on my last day!

-I may go to UBC next year for a second degree, this means I'll get to ski whistler and seymour!

-Was offered a job in a ski town in Japan. I would get a free pass, meals and a place to stay plus pay. Considering I don't speak Japanese, this is a pretty good gig. I may hook up a Japanese season in 08/09!

-Going home to see my parents and family on Wednesday, we haven't all been together since last Christmas!

-Whoop Whoop!

Very tempted to order the used Scratch BC WRS 178cms with Axial 120 binders for $390 off evogear outlet.

Hmmmm...

you do have the second highest payroll in the league, might have something to do with it. also NL is a JV league, your win against cleavland (what do you know, a team who developes their own players) was the series that really mattered.

you guys forget that 4 of the sox main players in the 07 world series are still on AAA salary because they are still on AAA salary they are as follows (youkalis, paplebon, ellsbury and pedroia) all 4 make less than 500K a year, yet they helped carry that team, as well as Lowell who isn't making bank by any means either

If you combined the Rockies payroll with the Red Sox payroll, you'd have the Yankees payroll. They exited in the first round. Money helps, but it by no means guarantees any sort of success.

well obviously you have to be smart with it, and get young players like manny (when you signed him) and bekkett instead of washed up ones like clemens and kevin brown. and the rockies payroll is pretty small, so that's not even a factor. as i said, the real series was against Cleavland, the rockies never had a chance, heck, my crappy mariners would have been in the wild card race in the NL, and they had a 15 game losing streak down the stretch.

WAY cold in my neck of the woods being forecasted for the end of next week.

Should be interesting to see how it plays out with the near record high lake temperatures, and some very cold air. If the pressure gradient and the winds line up, wooooo!

Hopefully. Haha.

I still have until the end of November at the soonest before lift served starts here.

So a few weeks ago, I got a Quiksilver Long Duk dong jacket for $50 brand new. Last weekend I got a pair of brown 686 pants for $59 brand new.

This morning I tried on all my ski shit, and i have two KILLER looking setups. One for warmer days, and one for cold days and cold nights.

The cold setup is the brown 686 pants, with the kelly green Sessions Wildfire jacket with the thick white stripe across the back and the chest. My trusty Oakley A-Frames, white frame with blue iridum lenses and a old, grandma knit white hat with a pom on the top. Gloves are Scott Park Rangers or cheap black mittens if it's really cold, but the Scotts Park Rangers are quite warm.

The warmer setup is Olive green Obermeyer Revert pants with the green and tan argyle Quiksilver Long Duk dong Jacket. Same hat, goggles, and gloves.

Oh, and I'm getting a Bern Baker audio in white for times when I want to wear my helmet, which I'll be trying to get into the habit of doing more often.

^ nice-a!

ive got to get a new outfit for this season. i basically wrecked my shit last season. i was going to head down to the burton outlet this weekend but instead may be heading up to mt snow to take a stab at some preseason jibbing

stoked cause i talked my way out of getting arrested tonight, i mean all i did was run around UMass campus in a gorilla suit jumping out of trees and scaring the shit out of people

That sounds like a great time, way to level with the 5-0. I was at a party last weekend where three guys were all wearing the same gorilla suit, it was very confusing. From my experience with the bunny suit on Easter at Sugarloaf I must say wearing a full suit with a covered face is pretty fun.
