The Stoked Thread

yeah so do my bosses. luckily its PTO. hahaha suckers. i get paid to go skiing. i love it! each shit you miserable attorneys!!! muhahahahaha

Fuck! I'm driving back to Rochester Sunday night, and first day of classes is MONDAY! WTF!!! I can't skip that!!!!

Dude, Holiday Valley opens Wednesday, $4 for a lift ticket if you get there between 9 and 10 in the morning.

Also...

"Blinding blizzards will hit the Great Lakes snow belts late in the weekend and early next week. Keep in mind that at least in northern Michigan, the lake-effect snow will come on top of the more generalized snow that falls this weekend. You have to figure with all the snow on the ground and more coming down, it's going to be a very wintry scene up north. I hesitate to use stronger words to describe the storm up in that neck of the woods, since big snows are usually dealt with pretty well.

In any case, the heaviest lake snows will impact the northern and western Great Lakes Sunday night and Monday, then be at its worst in western New York, northeastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania Monday and Tuesday. Furthermore, the snow belts downwind of lakes Erie and Ontario are likely to have an extended period of heavy snow which could result in totals near 2 feet!"

Oh, hello weather. Nice to meet you. What's that? You want to bend me over the highway and rape me with no lube? Sweet.

Ugh. No. Soooo much lube... Allll the lube.

I doubt the lake snows will affect the I-90 tooooooo much. Mostly tug hill and "ski-country" of WNY, which means me! Yay!

I loooooove lake snow.

and I got to ski it today, untracked, face shots off the wazoo. it was amazing. no pictures, I was preoccupied with skiing. but I'm going back tomorrow, and we'll bring the cam

^ Yeah, pics! Love pics of you guys enjoying the pow. No matter how jealous I am.

Stoked that I had a really good day of work. My lesson today was a returning client, I guess I can now call them. Which totals 4 clients! Woot! He's a rider, so we're on the trails (thank god). I have him again tomorrow. Double woot!

My Larose Pro's came yesturday! Stoked!

Fucking soft and light...im pumped to try these in the park.

Free skis feel good :)

Soft compared to my Blends and Madtrix

they flex pretty easy dude. then again, i'm used to skiing stiffer skis. I'm jacked to see how these ride!

Skied today in Whis. It was deep. That was sweet. However I put another core shot in my Thugs (thats 3 for anyone who is keeping track) and spent 3.5 hours on the road home only to have to turn around cause the highway closed. So I'm stuck in whistler while it's dumping. Not such a bad thing. The big boards are coming out tomorrow morning for a couple hours before it all turns to rain.

Awesome weekend over all. Hit up the NS Office on friday to see the boys. Rode Jay Peak saturday and sun with full mid winter conditions. Foot deep fresh lines all over. And the upper mountain was closed so a few short hikes yielded even more freshies. Opened our sweet ass house in jay for the winter, complete with perfect mini-park hill setup in the back yard. Woke up this morning to 6" on the ground with another estimates 2"/hr till mid afternoon.!!!

Snowed 4" yesterday morning, but it rained last night which left us with maybe an inch at most left...

But it's snowing out now, 2 inches or so since 7:30, with it forecasted to pick up more as the afternoon goes on. Lake effect snow warning, with more than a foot forecasted thru tomorrow afternoon.

Holiday opens for skiing Wednesday with likely incredible conditions, and a $4.00 lift ticket!!!!!! Yes, four dollars.

We're supposed to get 10-20" today and tonight, which is sweet because the last storm packed out to about 10" of useless fluff. We need a base right now, so I'm hoping for some sloppy crap.

Rochester weather sucks. It's nuking in VT. Remind me why I'm going to college?

Oh wait, wrong thread.

Uhhh stoked that it DIDN'T snow on my drive home last night.

Bahahahah. Just found out my home mountain is shorter than the mountain out here.

Jiminy Peak, MA: 1150' Vert

Bristol Mtn, NY: 1200' Vert

Oh and it supposedly nukes out here. Alot. So mabye this winter won't suck so much dick after all.

Oh and the student pass gets me discounts at other places like: JAY PEAK, Holiday Valley, Okemo, and some others....... fuck yeah!

Ian, seriously... blow off class Wednesday. $4 (four) at Holiday for an 8-hour lift ticket if you buy before 10am, and it's PUKING out now.

A foot plus by tomorrow afternoon.

I bought this bag yesterday. It's pretty dope and pretty fucking huge. 120L + skatewheels. The ability to seperate into two different bags.

I went skiing on Saturday. Blue Mountain in Ontario was cold, flat and extremely crowded. At least it was good to be out skiing again. We had a great time and the jams were good. I was using my old boots, which are far too packed out and big now for me to even use them correctly. My ankles were hatin' it and I couldn't do nose presses because my heels lift about 2 inches.

I had originally planned to pick up a pair of ARVs in 175 but Armada didn't have any more in North America so I would have to wait a month or so for skis from Europe. Instead, I decided to buy a pair of JP vs. Juliens in 178. These are real fat pow skis. Now I'm going to have 1 pair of centermounted soft park skis and one pair of 103mm waist soft fatties which are basically straight skis. What am I going to use for actually skiing? At least on blower days and any sort of gnar, I'll be set. I still want a pair of Seths or ARVs!!

I have less than 5 full work days left until I finish for the winter. Hell yes! Also, I found out last week I have 6 days vacation pay coming as well, Jea!

Ohhh yeah... My hill sits in the Boston Hills.

I'd be really surprised if we got anything close to this, but here's the forecast for Big Sky, MT:

This Afternoon: Periods of snow with areas of blowing snow. High near 29. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 20 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 15 to 21 inches possible.

Tonight: Periods of snow, mainly before 11pm. Low around 26. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 20 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Breezy, with a west wind 23 to 26 mph decreasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. New snow accumulation of 9 to 13 inches possible.

also stoked on the new england snow, as I will be back there in 2 weeks, and will now have a great base for park coverage

tomorrow's gunna be a powder day for me it's still puking in vermont, mount snow is gunna have added 2 feet on since before the storm, though i am very jealous of you kids that will be at jay, we're talkin 3 feet by the time this storm is done

I swear Jay peak is fake.

I am not looking forward to the drive home this evening. The roads are a complete mess, and the fresh snow we got is being blown about like wild in the 45mph winds.

I'd hope you're not heading north...

Those back roads, with snow and wind, are very dangerous.

I was driving them last year on a very windy day and complete white-outs wern't rare...very scary when being followed by my friend and an 18 wheeler.

Try to put off driving until morning maybe?

Be careful man.

Eh, it wasn't too bad. Mostly back-roads.

Few bad whiteout sections, but nothing I haven't occured. I've driven here in Western new York and driven thru storms when there were full-out driving bans and 3-4"/hour snowfall rates.

It was maybe a 5 out of 10 on the bad driving conditions scale tonite. I was expecting worse.

Wooo! Holiday Valley reported 14+ inches as of 7am this morning, and it's still coming down with up to another foot possible before it winds down tonite.

They open tomorrow, and the weather is looking awesome. Calm winds, high in the mid-20's and some sun possible in the afternoon.

It's going to be an epic opening day.

I know for a fact that I am skiing tomorrow, Friday afternoon, Saturday (maybe 9am-10pm?), and Sunday morning.

Man I would love to go up there tomorrow and blow off work, it seems a little far for me though to go to western NY.

Steve how long would it take you on 86E to get to binghamton or I81 area in eastern NY??

4 dollars is hard to pass up, MRG does a deal like that too every year on their anniverary of the first opening day. I think MRG's is in late january and also around 5 bucks.

Seems like a pretty painless drive from binghamton to Ellicottville. Just over 3 hours, mainly in I-86

I must say though, if you have the opportunity to ski VT, go there. We only have 750' vert at Holiday Valley. The snow will be great, but you might need to poach to get fresh as they are just starting operations and will only have 3 lifts running and under 10 trails.

Plus, for the $4 pass, you have to buy your ticket no later than 10am.

SKIED POWDER ALL DAY YESTERDAY!!!!!!

OVER A FOOT AT MT SNOW. SOME SPOTS 2 FEET OF WIND BLOWN POW!!! GLORIOUS DAY!

Ya that is a little far west for me, I gotta drive two hours north just to get to binghamton and from there I might as well keep going north to VT.

^ Nice Lesley!

I was bitching about how I wasn't getting any snow...but yay! Last night and so far all this morning it has been snowing. Yay!

Stevens Pass is opening Thursday, I'm going Fri, Sat and Sun! Kinda looks finnicky in terms of snow conditions right now tho... Baker got 5.5 inches yesterday. Of rain.

Stoked that I just got some free tickets to Windham. Lesley wanna go? Gotta do it before the 16th though....

Would love to but i really dont have the time. Between both jobs, a shit load of holiday parties and trying to put some $$ I really cant justify it.

Now if you were to say 'Hey lesley, I got two tix to Jay wanna go?" Then I would so be there! Muhahahaaha

umm because of this terrible thing called work. anyways why would i? yesterday kicked ass. no one was there!
