i posted this in the 'worst skiier' thread, and im going to re-post it here because i want more people to read this:

i just thought id add that while i was interviewing an anonymous pro skier, he mentioned how lame it is that people on ns are always talking shit and berating each other, and how it really pisses a lot of pros off and actually drives them away from ns.

its pretty surprising how much ns has regressed in the short time that ive known about it. im in school, and i get enough shit from people all day that i just want a place where i can talk about my passion with others that share it, without being flamed for asking a simple question. in my opinion, its pretty selfish how people either insult, flagrantly evade while ridiculing, or deliberately misinform others in these forums. we all need to remember that we all sucked at one point or another, and that we would not be where we are without the help of others. so, return the favor, pass on the good will. if you really are a skier, and cared about the life and progression of your sport, you would help those that asked, regardless of how idiotic you percieved them to be.

 
well put. How would you like it if you worked your ass off trying to get sponsored, then when you do some little ass hat calls you a hack. I'd never come back.

 
duyde not many people talk shit to pros, they practically worship them. i dont know which pros dont like this siite and i coule be wrong but maybe the pros just need to toughen up a bit if a little shit talking drives them away from a site completly.. look around you dude... there isnt a horrible amount of shit talking. check out a thread where somebody asks a question. i garuntee there are a group of people who help the person out.

Why would any pro skier want to go to this site? This site is filled with 13 year old little punks from the east coast who cant ski at all but still talk shit like they are hot stuff.

absolutely, and props to those that help the person out. my comments are directed more towards the people that dole out shit incessantly, and i dont think anyone would argue that they are a minority.

 
mammothpunks, if you feel that way then why do you log-in. I think what this thread is trying to get across is that its not people hatin on pros but people ideas and opinions. I totally agree, right on!

The worshipping of pros on this site is a little out of hand...they're just people...who have a job(a cool job, but still a job). Think about how many messages some pros would have everyone knew who they were. I think hearing what some have to say would be interesting, and a good change from the usual crap that usually gets posted.

It seems funny to me that so many of the members on this site are trying to obtain a higher status in skiing, yet CERTAIN members prove time and time again that they are a 'BETTER' person than such pros by putting them down. I have been put down time and time again, but the unfortunate fact is that YOU DONT KNOW ME! I come here to talk with 'peers,' yet for as many people that I find to be supportive, there is always someone to throw some BS out! Be happy, if you are an angry person, take it out on the hill!

the reason the pros shy away from this site is because they are out skiing not sitting on the web with no life.

linemaverick, i give back to ns by writing some stuff for them. the interview i mentioned will be up on the site soon, but the interviewee was not the one making the comment. i dont think i worded what i said earlier correctly.

So true, I was just thinking the same thing while reading all the posts uner (couldntgetausername)'s demo he so graciously posted for us... There is alot of shit talking and non-supportive gest flying all over this site, but keep in mind, if you really look at it, it's usually always the same people. Granted some people deserve to be blasted with some of the stuff they post on this site, but all in all even with the same people waxing negative style there's just to much shit talkin' flying around. Sad thing is, it's human nature, and you'll find it wherever you go, one man sez,'ooo my triple axl is better than yours' even though they're not talking about figure skating at all, dude, it just doesn't make any logical sense to expend so much energy putting someone else down. And it makes us, who actually car about the future of our movement, wonder how these people can say they're part of the same thing? It's going to happen, but with that said the only way to combat this, is to ignore it entirely, if someone gives a nasty comment, just don't respond to it, I mean this is a web site, it's not like your about to actually get physical over anything said here, or not in some cases... But when encountered by the non-enlightened few, just be smart about it, because those who actually know what they're doing don't have to prove that to anyone here by post fights, just let it slide...
