park skiing is like a coin toss rn. People either be homie af, or they be jet skis butt plug annoying crybabies and there’s no in between

to the second half: who cares. Let dudes be dudes. Gather thy homies and have a good time that’s what it’s all about

to the first half: bro that was filthy love to see it XOXO

thats my one NSers post for the summer

Nah fr tho Jack you right. I’ve finally let go of all my grudges against people or stereotypes and the only people who ski I hate are the Jones, Holidayvalley’s management when it comes to parks, and safety patrols

One more to add to the hate list, ski racers and their presence on the mountain.

Idk I just let kids grow up. 98% of negativity in the park comes from like 15 year olds lol. That’s why there are so many fights in middle school and once you get to high school everyone kinda chills out and matures the older they get.

Yeah this is pretty accurate. I see so many kids acting edgy but all the older guys are super chill and just having a good time

the 2% become vail ski patrollers in the future

Bro honestly tho I feel a lot of the negativity can be self created bc you think the other people are judging you, when really they’re not. Running it with a crew is gonna be your best bet for an all around fun park experience

Yep. Most grown ups don't want to waste time and energy going out of their way to be assholes to people who aren't causing them a problem.

bring back on-mountain violence. When I see someone who isn’t a local pull up to the park at MY mountain (Deer Valley) I throw hands immediately.

Yes, I’m the guy who is fighting everyone at the bottom of Mayflower chair. Some days I only get one or two laps in because these people are tryna get this work.

I spent a lot more time in the park this year than ever before...Because Timberline is fucking flat.

Everyone my age (adult) was just stoked for other people.

Homie got deep real quick. Tbh this applies to more than just skiing

Tbh i kinda feel this. At our areas, especially the new gen, became corny af for no reasons. Acting out like they're the big bet with no park etiquette or manners to begin with.

on days like these, like in the lift lines, my patience is really getting tested.

I'm probably a boomer at this point but basic friendly vibe / manners should be a prequsite for when your hitting the park.

Never had a bad vibe at a skate park. At ski parks - most definitely.

But as someone already mentioned, having your own crew / bubble you mobb with is key, blend everything else out and don't even think about anything. That is the best time on the hill :)

I find that for the most part everyone is chill. Any judgement is usually projected unless they vocally call you out, in that case their probably 16, and egotistical.

I remember being like 15 and just trying to have fun in the park not trying anything too serious, I was wearing tie dye cause I was a kid. Some dickhead on the chair chirped me calling me cotton candy, couldn't even say it to me properly he had to be up in the safety of the chair. So just know if some kid is chirping and calling you out they are 100% of the time a pussy, and just learned 2's out they think they hot shit.

Also I don’t know why kids think that making fun other people makes them less likely to be bullied. It’s pretty easy to tell how insecure someone is by how they treat others.

the state of skiing is absolutely piece of shit right now since everyone is trying to emulate run of the mill instagram comp jocks like tanner blakely or zootspace guys lmao

I don’t think that’s totally true. I think there’s a lot of young skiers that are joining this growing sport without direction or confidence so they grasp at anything they can find that they think other people approve of. It’s less of just “dude people so dumb lmao” and more just kids lookin to find their place

Tanner Blakely is not who I would peg for a comp jock lol Hes way more fun to watch than, say, ragletti, etc.

I don't think this is accurate at all. People just naturally try to recreate stuff that they find cool, doesn't mean they are just trying to be copy cats. They are just trying to learn. As they get better they develop their own style out of that.

Obviously people are gunna ski like other people, wtf is wrong with that. Just be happy we have an insane amount of diversity in this sport and its not fuckin racing; where every single person try's to ski exactly like whatever norwegian won the last world cup.

One of the best things is finding a group of people you can ski with for a few days. Fuck around with each other on the lift, and then encourage each other to try new shit when your skiing together.

I just got to thinking about how every old fart is always convinced skiing is dying. It is not. We are seeing record growth with skier visits and pass sales. There are just more options for online content and manufacturers and less small resorts.

I wish everyone saying “skiing is dying” would stfu. Get over yourself.

I'm not 1 of those old farts but I was under the understanding that ski culture was on the decline but what you're saying directly contradicts that?

So which is it because I hear people on either side stating it as facts.

Where's ben shapiro when you need him I want some facts and logic here.

Maybe this tiny tiny tiny microcosm of skiing (newschoolers) isn’t seeing as much traffic as before. There are way more options for online media now (Downdays, Reddit, Facebook, insta, etc.) to capture people’s attention in regards to skiing.

But skiing itself (skier visits) is growing still.

Go look at Ski Area Management (SAM) info. It backs up what I’m saying
