The State of Democracy

What do you guys think about the current state of america's democracy?

I got it as an english essay topic, and i thought i might share it with you

Personally i think democracy in America is in a terrible state.

Until recently with Obama, people have been passive as fuck, not looking into current issues, voter turnouts something around 50 %, its rediculous that something our forefathers worked so hard towards is taken for granted, and ignored today.

make sure you put in your paper that our government is a republic, not a democracy.

personally i prefer an all knowing all controling government that takes all choice out of the equation. but maybe im just weird.

as ATLskier said. make sure you know we are not a pure democracy. the way our government is set up is fascinating. and IMO the people who set it up are pretty damn smart. maybe talk about the expansion of the presidents power, the expansion of the judical branch. and the way different sections in the government have changed.
