it is quite good my friends, as it should be. Last year was pretty dope, correct? But, you see, it used to always be this way. According to my professor in my water quality class we have just had a general drought for the last five years in the east. It is normally like it was last year ;-) So get stoked for a money year of pow :) woohoo. oh yes, and the rainfall for this year has already surpassed all of last year. So, all this rain we have been getting will be.... SNOW!!!!!

Have a good season, maybe your asses will only be 1/2 as bruised because you can try new tricks in the pow. The other 1/2 of bruising is uh... well you know.

Actually, most people dont realize that the highest hills in the east are just as high as many of the mountains in the west. Take for instance, Mt Washington in NH. Top: 6288' or so. Glen, NH: 540'. Over five THOUSAND feet of vertical. Tetons: Top: between 10,000 and 12,770 or so. Jackson Hole (the valley): 6200'. Thats between 3800' and over 6000' verts. Not much difference, other than the fact that you start out at Mt Washingtons elevation in Jackson...

I was actually just out in Wyoming hiking the Wind Rivers. Most peaks: 12000 or so. The valleys? 9000. Only 3000 vert.

(granted, Im using the highest peak (by far) in the east, but come on, we have to have SOMETHING to brag about! :) )

Obviously the relief/gradient is greater (ie., the amount of elevation change is over a smaller distance out west).

Oh yeah, and dont believe all that Farmers Almanac crap. There isnt really a good way to predict what kind of season we will have. Who knows, we could concievably go straight back into a drough beginning tomorrow (not likely, but possible). Luckily, the next ice age is coming! (or is it already here?)

 
yeah farmers almanac is shit, but i read some shit that with that freak heat wave that hit europe theres some countereffect which is gonna make it a real cold yet wet windet. so lots of dry fluffy snow. im realy not sure if thats for europe on or canada and the usa as well. oh well who cares. im surfin all this year anyways.

HAHAAHAH no they arent dude wtf are you talking about, vertical rise might be closer but they are in no way as high as out west like you said the highset mtn in the east is like 6000 feet, you dont see ski areas at all below that range out here. And even then your vertival drp cant compare with us just give up the east sucks move out here

If you actually read my post you would know what Im talking about. OBVIOUSLY the mountain peaks have higher ELEVATIONS.

I would love to move out west--get me a job and Im there.

The one thing that the east does have is BUMPS. Western bumps blow. Nuff said.

 
But in the East can you go 2 seconds off of a run and get nipple deep pow?

Our mountains are like... steeper a lot of the time and more... mountainous.... and incredibly cheap, it's about $17 american for a lift ticket here.

to the guy who said 'can you go off the trail and be in nipple deep in pow in the east?' obviously...we had more snow on the east coast last year than the west Hhad... Shames Mountain never opened up till way after xmas..i went Whistler and came back east and there was more snow here

 
if we're talking vertical the east and west are similar, if we're talking acrerage the east usually gets decimated by the west. the west is better but the east will have some XMAS holiday powder!
