The skier slide needs a name

seriously, the skier slide needs a name. we have noseslide, tail slide, and skier slide. When im doing first hits on rails and my snowboarder friends ask me what im gonna warm it up with, what am i supposed to say here? So, I think we should put some serious thought in naming the skier slide.

How you gonna warm up?

Im gonna just do it.

Pretty easy, what also works is grease, clean, slide.

no, it doesnt work at all

the name of the trick - it needs a name!

slide is not a name!

5050, front board, nosepress, smith press, those are names!

"grease", "slide" are not names.

How illigitimate is our sport if we donnt even have a name for our basic slide?

I feel like im taking crazy pills here!

come on guys, we have no name for our basic grind

270 on blindside switups and stuff arent slides, they are tricks on rails, slide names ar elike nose slide, tailslide, blunt slide(lipslide tailslide), lipslides you know!

So how come our basic slide is nameless, and noone else has figured this out!?

^hahahaha dont talk about mainstream here, talk about a name. Not naming a slide basically states that we are fine with having no diversity in our slides. Im sick of seeing only skier slides, and on top of that they have no name!

how is a skier slide a front board, and frontside is not a slide, it is the direction of the spin or where the rail is in relation to the skier!

we don't need a name. If you are gonna tailslide the rail, that's worth of the name. But the normal grind is so basic, it doesn't need a name. Everyone can do it. If you say "I'm gonna grind that rail" everyone expects it to be normal. Just leave it be.

here is yet another example of an obscure thread leading to trash talking and deviating to something totally different than intended.

good work ns

at the coldwars rail comps at stratton, they have an announcer who kind of explains what each person just did, and they always say "skier slide" and it sounds so fuckin dumb. like "270 on to skier slide to 270 off". it only needs a name because it has a counterpart name in snowboarding, so when people see the skiing equivalent to a boardslide, the call it a goddamn ski slide or skier slide and it sounds horrible.

why not jsut say your gonna rail it? or slide it? so soon we have to have our own name on straight air to? just fucking tell them your gonna do the rail. wait, next dillema, we must come up with our own name on turning! and sitting in the elevator! and skiing should have their own name for eating! oh no! the world is gonna end

what the fuck man? look at the first post and every other post and they are all on the same subject, the only post out of line here was yours.

but we shouldnt change the name, fuck it. its fine

the only people that say skier slide have no clue what theyre talking about. just say im going to do this rail

railslide or jsut call it skatbaording/snowbaording names minus the board ex. Im gonan go slide that rail

how about right slid and switchslide for left and right. you will have know what is natural for each rider. so its a natural and unnatural thing not really just right and left.

just sliding the rail doesnt work, i mean sliding the rail with what, noseslide? tailslide? "greasing it" with what?

I mean, all you guys are talking as if the only actual slide you ever do on rails is the skier slide. doesnt anyone else see a problem with this?

jesus christ, why the fuck does it need a name? just so you can tell your boarder friends what you're gonna do? who fucking cares? how about, natural or unnatural. simple and plain.

I,m going to slide this rail.

I,m gonna 270 onto the rail, I'm gonnatailpress this rail..

sklide is ok for sa normal slide

how bout the super duper double parallel ski under-foot slide?

or we can just can just call it a rail slide, if necessary, but it's not. it's not like snowboarding where we have all these different ways to ride a rail - you slide it perpendicular and either nose, underfoot, or tail. does it mean that much to you to say how you're warming up to you snowboarding friends?

Well it depends if you're coming onto the rail frontside or backside, unless it's a ride on/not urban set up rail.

Frontside is the name of the basic grind in rollerblading, so that's why I said frontside.
