JD sorta came upon this question in equipment chat. What do you guys think? If someone asked 'Whats newschool skiing?' Which vid would you show them. For me id show them red tape.

 
^^agreed, any poorboyz movie in fact. if you show them red tape, some of them will think that all ski movies look like that and that's not the case. And also, poorboyz always have the top 10 riders in their movies, and red tape doesn't have today's top riders (even if they still kick serious ass)

im gonna go with focused, just because of the overall chillness of the movie, because skiing is that chill to begin with, and focused captures that. and it obviously has sick riding too.

1242 or forward, because of the lack of big mountain, they are a good bed, we are talking about newschool skiing here, not big mountain, big mountain skiing is not newschool skiing, its boring and if I dind't ski and I was showed big mountain skiing for half the movie and extremely slow motion shots of some good stuff and and mediocre stuff and no rails (X) I would snowboard.

therefore...

forward because dave chrighton represents skiing the most... because he is sick, mikael has the most style and his skill makes skiing look cool...

tanner also has style but mikael is better. but tanner still represents...

and forward has tons of urban rails, showcasing half of newschool skiing, the other half being jumps where peps part in 1242 takes care of it...

in conclusion, really I would show them like two or three parts

dave chrighton from forward, mikael/tanner/pep from 1242 and voila! that is newschool skiing... not people wearing backapkcs on 10 000$ heli trips, that is rich folk trrying to look cool but its not.

if big mountain for skiing was more like big mountain for snowboarding... then it woudl be cool where every cliff is hit and tricks are thrown off everything, jsut watch back in black you will know what im talkinga bout.

thats it , shit talk this all you want... i know i missed some good parts but DC and PEP are the sole of skiing. mikael just is in his own league

i think we, as newschool skiers, have all formed mental blocks as far as snowmobiling and wendy fisher segments in matchstick movies go. as in, i have taught myself to forget about them.
