I have heard that there is a bus that takes one from SLC to local resorts. I am going to be at the U next year, I have a few questions about the bus, if anyone could answer any of them, I would really appreciate it.

Where do you pick it up in SLC, and which resorts does it take you to?

At what times of the day does it run? I have classes that I have set up that I can ski half day some days and nights other days, so I was thinking getting passes to PC and Brighton.

How much does it cost? are there any sort of season pass things?

also.... could you all compare Brighton and Snowbird? I am trying to decude between the two. Interested in info about park, cliffs, powder, how the lines are (Really tech or wide open and fast, that sort of thing)

Also, if you feel the need to post something like:

"ah, the bird sucks none of the locals go there cause the snow sucks so pretty much stay away and let me have it to myself like omg lol"

just don't. I am looking for info. Thanks all in advance.
 
There is a bus that goes from down town to the BCC and LCC but it takes for ever to get to the hill, I would just recomend driving to the bottom of either Big or Little Cottonwood and parking in on of those lots as long as you have a pass for the hill the bus is free..I haven't heard of any PC bus but there is a shit tonn of kid at the U who ski PC so finding a ride with them is your best bet... Brighton is more mini golf lines and the Bird has no snow so don't go there.. but when there is snow the bird is wide open haul ass lines... but don't ski there the snow sucks
 
i liked Brighton and Snowbird both a ton. Snowbird is pretty gnarley, and the scene seems pretty intense. A lot of badasses who kill it, and a lot of attitude. Brighton is pretty chill, and has a better park than the Bird. i think i'm gonna try to get PC, Brighton, and the Bird passes. expensive, yes, but each of those places has a little something i want.
 
exactly... there isn't a single mountain I want to ski at there... so many choices!

Is Brighton more mini golf style and Snowbird wide open? does brighton have open terrain? I don't like dropping shit into trees much. I like a nice, obstacle free outrun, and hauling ass on powder days.

I'm at mammoth now, maybe if anyone has skied any combo of the mouuntains they can compare some of the terrain?
 
You can get reg. UTA bus year passes for $15 if you're a student and you do it in the fall. Ski bus is free with a Snowbird or Brighton pass. You can ride the reg bus to a stop where the ski bus will pick you up. It's super beat and takes about 2 hours to get to the mountain. I did it a few times last year, but it's not cool. I'd recommend making friends with kids who have cars. You can find the UTA schedules on www.rideuta.com

There is no public trans to PC
 
And you should get a Snowbird pass...longer, steeper, more open terrain...gets tracked out faster, though. Brighton has nice bc access.
 
i hear snowbasin is sick up north in ogden and they might make a high speed train going up there and have a gondola all the way from the valley to the mountain.
 
There is a bus to PC from SLC that runs in the winter, it is called the express or something but it picks up in SLC early in the morning like in the 5 am range, getting to PC around 7 am and returns to slc after the resorts close.

It is set up for employees of the pc resorts
 
brighton is all minigolf, and flat, really flat. i'd have to disagree and say the bird has a better park b/c: brighton's park is tailored to snowboarders; small lips onto boxes, and the jumps tend to be really booty. snowbird's park has more skiers, imo a better flow, and the jump trannies are smoother.the bird is indeed much steeper, and alot more vert.brighton has great bc access, better than the bird. the bird has alot of space to haul on a pow day, but there are also some areas that are really, really techie. there are alot of good riders at snowbird, i disagree about the attitude however.snowbird can get packed on the weekends however, and you get alot of gapers who crowd up the tram just for the sake of being on the tram, and then proceed to take groomers back down to the base.at brighton, you also get the super badass boarders who side slip/heel slide the entire way down a line.i prefer snowbird.
 
1st I agree. I went to Brighton once last season with my boarder friends and I only saw a handful of skiers.

2nd Doesn't the U have like some Ski/Snowboard club, where you can organize rides. BYU does. I think that's your best bet.
